Why wouldn't Siyeon's or Penelope's mother approve of Callisto. Because of how they meet? Because Callisto is Royalty and rich, what they weren't? I am sure they didn't like Callisto at first, because of how they meet, but both of them loved their daughter dearly. So I'm sure they can get over it, if it means their daughter is happy.

And just because Penelope's mother was poor and died a miserable death doesn't mean it's the fault of the royals or noblity. She probably would approve because Penelope will live under better circumstances as empress then a beggar.

Also I highly doubt they would approve of Iklies or Derrick.

First of all: WHO THE HECK USES THE HASHTAGS "anti-VADTD character"? LMAO

Now, seriously, I don't understand the mania of some people for being obsessed with hating Callisto or the idea of Callisto being the HETEROPATRIACAL COLONIZER MAN OF TURN??? (*insert Spider-Man 3 OST Black Suit Theme*)

When he doesn't give a shit about the power, the empire and the action of kissing Penelope while she was disguised as a man.

Everything Callisto did before and during the novel was for his deceased mother, who was discarded by the emperor after she gave him power and crowned him. Callisto's plan was to kill the emperor and his allies, give all the wealth to the people and watch the empire burn. There is a great parallel between Callisto and Eckles's motive for revenge, but since the first was not a slave (but cannon fodder for the emperor) no one pays attention⸮

They say that Callisto is a blank slate but the only and truly blank slates are Derrick and Eckles!

Throughout the novel Derrick's role is to be the remorseful male lead and and Eckles is the character who has the role of carrying the initial premise of the novel: a male lead who can kill the female lead... And those facts doesn't change even in the side stories.

In fact, only Callisto, Winter and Reynold are the protagonists who help Penelope, but at the same time they are also important in the plot, and by plot I mean the real plot: defeating Laila. Each one of them was an essential key for Penelope to defeat Laila, like Winter being the MVP of the story, Callisto helping find Penelope's magic wand, Reynold practically giving her access to the crossbow, among many other things.

Unlike Derrick and Eckles... but not because they simply served to be the antagonists, but because they were created precisely to play their aforementioned roles, because those elements are characteristic of the author's works.

I mentioned it a long time ago and I will mention it again:

If you are not aware of the author's previous work, it is easy to conclude that the author was unfair to some characters. But the truth is that the author LOVES the topic of obsession and death. Before releasing this novel, the author wrote another novel with a similar plot to this novel (Red and Mad) and another (Stalker Stalker) with the plot of someone being harassed by a person from the past. The author does not make others shine more than others, everyone has their shine in the novel but it does not mean that it is totally good or bad. In a nutshell, while you think the author is dirtying the characters, the author is really throwing honey at them and really loves them just the way they are, because that is their way of writing and their literary style.

coming up with the plot of an isekai is so fucking easy she was your average korean woman and she got hit by a truck because she didn't look or whatever when crossing the street BUT GET THIS her soul transmigrated into the body of a young beautiful noblewoman despised by all around her looking into the mirror she saw a face she immediately recognized from the cover of a trashy romance novel her best friend back on earth forced her to read - it was the face of the villainess who tormented the angelic female lead of the novel and was executed for it thank god she was in a child's body so she still had more than enough time to turn around the plot of the novel only one problem her father and brothers were abusive cold-hearted men so she had to act cute and suck up to them in order to get by luckily with the power of love she melted their icy hearts or whatever and their love for her reached obsessive levels they spent so much money on her and wouldn't allow anyone to so much as touch her kinda sus if you ask me but moving on her maid and knight are so loyal and submissive to her its also past normal levels she has virtually no flaws at this point her mana levels are incomprehensibly high she could blow up the whole kingdom if she wanted to she is incredibly popular she prevented the great war or some other important political achievement life is an absolute bore that's just how great she is that's when our male lead enters the chat you can practically smell him that's how generic he is he's the best swordsman in the whole wide world he spends all his time training and when he isn't training he is reading he is a duke's son smart rich emotionally unavailable has some hidden trauma related to his mother and was abused as a child anything you could want in a man you see and also did i mention the black hair? because he has black hair and although he is hated by all the world his servants think he's like the Best Guy Ever (TM) not sure how he gets them to believe that since he's been pretty darn rude every time he's met our female lead but oh look a shot of his sweaty torso maybe he's not so bad after all don't our protagonists make a lovely couple?

I KNOW RIGHT, I'D KILL FOR STORIES WHERE THE FL CAN LIKE ACTUALLY ESCAPE THE MALE LEAD OR THE STORY AND WHATEVER AND FUCK OFF TO DO WHAT SHE WANTS LIKE. It also personally annoys me a lot when she can't do what she wants because of people and plot. Idc, let the isekai'd girl enjoy her second chance, actually without shoeing in the male lead on our face.

And as with every trope, Callisto Regulus is an exception and I'm glad we got shoed in the face with him.

Manhwa concepts I wish were real:

Successfully divorced or never married the Male Lead: FL either was transferred into the body of the og ML’s soon to be ex-wife or fiancé. She knows the og ML doesn’t love her, so she finds a way to successfully divorce him or break off the engagement before og ML meets the OG female lead. This causes the og ML and the og FL to meet and fall in love with out the new FL being in the way. FL then does shit she wants and finds a man who actually loves her.

Contact:

FLis transferred into the body of a side character who has a bad end. Instead of making a contract with the OG ML to save her life through some kind of marriage/engagement/ dating/ whatever romantic shit there is, she instead makes a contract or agreement with the og FL to either A. Be lady in waiting or B. Business partner (come on, FL’s always have a business venture). She never meets the og ML until the og FL meet up and thus the story proceededs just, new FL doesn’t die or meet a bad end

Best one: Going with the story

FL plays the part successfully as villainess, older sister, lover of og ml up until the og leads meet and then she dips out or just becomes a background character. More explanation:

Say the FL is transferred into the body of a side character/villain who is madly in love with the ML which makes him disgusted with her which pushes him to meeting the FL and falling for her. The FL, instead of acting cold or acting like they don’t like the ML, plays the part of the side character/villain perfectly and makes the ML think she is madly in love. This makes the story play out to the point where the og ML and of FL meet and the new FL stops her acting and thus acts heart broken, but really she doesn’t care. The og leads get together and the FL lives her own life after that.

The reason Callisto Regulus hard oversteps every trope that could've made a manhwa bad because of the male lead is because he is perfection given form in the imperfect, almost trope character structure. I am right, and will not be taking criticisms.

I mean yeah, has anyone been sane this 2020 and 2021? Isekai's main focus is literally letting you transport your attention to a world completely different from your own while making the mc feel very familiar due to their circumstances in order to take the burden of our realities off our shoulders. We all want to escape from our realities in different ways, isekai just reallly focuses on that niche.

I mean, it's even more telling why it's appealing more to girls/women, especially those in Korea, Japan and China and a lot of writers are from there.

I’ve become obsessed with otome isekai manhwas over the course of the pandemic, and when I saw how little fanfiction there was for manhwas in general I thought it might be a fun idea to start this event. I know the otome isekai manhwa community on Tumblr isn’t very large but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to try. If you are interested please fill out this google form before November 10th.
