hi everyone! ah, it’s been so long! :( i’ve missed you all terribly. quite a few things happened, so i’ll leave the rambly update under the cut below, as well as some in-character updates and the likes! 

my winter break went really well! i just turned 23, and was able to rest after finals. unfortunately, ( trigger ) tested positive around the time i was supposed to return from my hiatus and also started my new semester at the same time! which is why i’ve been away for a little longer. i’m doing really well now! :) onto mai, i’m going to be dropping her birthday threads (specifically) since it’s been some time now. i’m more than happy to hc any of the current threads, threads that were supposed to happen, or any of the plots in the post in general! for the time being, i’ll say that mai left the program temporarily to take care of work related things. <3 onto jaehyun, i’ll probably state the same reason and say that he had to return back home due to his minister status!

゛ &.      🕊️    ›    everything about her birthday party had been perfect.  really,  from the tiered cake and her favorite people dressed to the nines.  everything was just right,  a perfect blend of planned and spontaneity for the night.  most faces were familiar,  some new.  one in particular had stuck in her mind since she saw him in passing,  but she’s able to keep her curiosity at seeing him again at bay until she spots in a secluded part of the booked out building.   ゛funny seeing you here, ゛mai’s words are nearly silky smooth,  frame stepping into view in front of him as she sports her most swoon worthy smile.  a chance meeting that briefly slipped into a little bit of something,  soon turned into nothing once she was in zhaohui’s arms.  now,  fate had brought them together again.  calculated fingers toy with a button on his shirt,  ゛enjoying yourself? ゛the princess inquires. @georgetstuart​​

゛ &.      🕊️    ›   ゛just for me? ゛eyes grow wide,  expression full of glee as she laughs.   ゛you’re spoiling me,  ariel.  i think it’s high time we finally tie the knot,  hm? ゛the fifth princess teases,  downing the rest of her wine before quickly refilling the half-empty bottle into her glass flute.  mai ponders on it for a little,   ゛what do we think about ‘ dedicated to ariel’s favorite and sexiest princess ‘?  it might be a bit too obvious that it’s about me,  though.  ゛the brunette laughs,  tucking a strand of hair that escaped behind her ear.    ゛or what about the one i used back when we were in school?  what was it,  daisy dove? ゛her laugh grows louder and wider at the name,  recalling all the memories between her and ariel attached to it.  their days of playing pretend were long gone,  but it had been almost a sacred space for them.  where they could just be free.   ゛i miss it.  it became too suffocating in thailand,  ゛mai sincerely admits.   ゛of course you did.  i’m sad i missed out,  i could have been your cute little plague nurse. ゛

゛ &.      🕊️    ›    the time mai spent away from thailand didn’t reflect in her relationships with her sisters (at least, the ones she liked) and it was evident in the ambiance the mahidol girls had created between themselves.  there is a small ache that mai feels in her chest,  one full of little regret that she grew up so far away from them.  and at one point,  she purposefully chose to stay behind in france.   ゛an edm festival?  ゛mai scrunches her nose upwards.  at least he could have went somewhere more interesting if he was going to avoid her! like space,  that was far away enough.  ゛araya,  oh my god.  ゛the princess’ eyes lit up,  a feign gasp emitting from the back of her throat. ゛ you’re the worst liar,  ever,  you know that? ゛she laughs.  mai can’t help but grow more curious at who had triggered such a response from her sister.  ゛did something super juicy happen between you two? ゛ she was already internally working on plans to figure out who the mystery person was.  she watches her cup empty,  and a waiter prepare to bring her another cocktail.  mai gives the elder girl an almost pitiful look,  nodding softly along her words.  ゛that really is a horrid scent.  but you can take ines perfume shopping later!  i need to hear about the person who has gotten you all flustered up,  ゛

before her bday:

a day full of leisure. spa day, shopping day, day trip to a nearby town, booking out a club for the weekend, with phones turned off, etc. you get the picture! just full indulgence and completely withdrawing from their worlds for a bit. literally pure fun and bliss and not a single care in the world.

a small but really sweet picnic date <3 a nice view and mini celebration that’s cute and simple, really instagram worthy. much needed catch up, with definite grabbing ice cream afterwards.

the one who has been 👀 with mai since her arrival. they’ve been meaning to ask her out on a date, nothing too serious that leads to a marriage proposal yk, but nothing too casual that it just seems like friends catching up. where will the night take you two ~ (0/1)

the bday day:

the surprise party. intimate but grandeur at the same time, with all her favorite people in one room. theme, dress code, and all up to the party planner. just would like everyone to be on their best bonkers behavior!

゛ &.      🕊️    ›    a frown coats her features,  twisting further as her sister explained the person in question,  ゛yeah,  she’s my friend,  not him.  ゛a brief pause takes its place between her string of words,  hoping the silence filled in what mai couldn’t get out and say — that her sister mattered more.  ゛that’s weird,  araya.  do you want me to sweep his leg at the next party?  ゛she opts for instead,  only half kidding.   mai swears she could make it look like an accident.  ゛who?  ゛this time she stabs a dice of kiwi.  ゛no,  not yet  . .  so,  maybe,  probably.  hopefully?  but let’s be honest,  he’s probably pulling strings and planning me a welcome parade.  ゛the girl rolls her eyes,  setting the fork down and plucking up the stem of her wine glass.  ゛so,  anyone that you’re trying to avoid around here,  dear sister?  ゛mai teases,  and tries to hold back her laughter,  instead bubbles of giggles burst through blackberry stained lips.  like a dam breaking.

゛ &.      🕊️    ›    ゛you’re the reason why i came back,  obvi.  ゛and because it was finally time for mai to step out of thailand to start seeking out solid support for nisa’s rightful spot on the throne.  the brunette turns her torso and catches a glimpse of ariel’s silhouette against her own,  a reminder in flesh that she had another home.  france was always something thailand could never be to mai — a place where she didn’t matter so much.  ゛i just wanted to get a signed copy in person!  ゛mai takes a long sip of chardonnay,  and lets herself comfortably seep into the atmosphere they both stirred up whenever they were together.   a little bit like magic. ゛so,  what was living in the real world like?  ゛curiosity stains her throat,  eyebrow raised as she inquires about ariel’s halloween.  

“i’m so glad you’re here.” ariel muttered to the air as the credits to cléo de 5 à 7 rolled on, seeing her friend had unleashed a longing she didn’t know she had. it was almost as if they were back in ariel’s apartment on île saint louis, the clock inching closer and closer to midnight as they knocked back glasses of wine and recreated the dancing scene from bande à part. she shot the thai princess a teasing little grin. “did it really took me publishing a book for you to finally keep me company? parties with expensive champagne are fun, of course, but it does get quite old.” she reached for her glass of wine, accidentally knocking off a few books from the pile on her side table in the process. “it was nice to do halloween in new york though, it reminded me of what living in the real world is like.” ( @maimahidol​ )

゛ &.      🕊️    ›    in eager anticipation of meeting her sister,  mai booked out a michelin star restaurant solely for the purpose of having some privacy together. jetlag was smeared onto mai’s lids, but a few sips of her second cosmo helped alleviate the drowsiness coursing through.

゛oh, shit,   ゛the brunette’s eyes widen at her older sister’s words,  sharp teeth clamping down on ripened strawberry stabbed on a fruit fork.  the princess thinks she could hear the echo of her bite bouncing on the walls.  the waiters came sparingly,  arriving with fresh drinks or gourmet one biters.  for the most part,  the mahidol sisters were left alone.  mai thinks she can finally breathe around here.

the fifth born princess to the mahidol family, born in the winter of 1995. 

raised by her mother, she doesn’t have vivid memories of her father as much, and admired nisa since birth. her life was fairly chill until age five, when she was (unofficially) a part of another banishment her father implemented over his wife, her mother. during this time mai was shipped off to france, where she began attending private boarding schools. she was plucked out of france during grade school, and was part of yet another banishment a few years later! this time she didn’t leave france, and her mother returned without her. personally cut off ties with her father by this time.

blossomed in high school, graduated as valedictorian, head cheerleader, and queen of the formal. her it girl aura followed her since then, even when she decided to return back home. it was a weird feeling but she decided to go back so she can start taking action in gathering support for nisa and also basically to upstage her dad *hair tuck* <3 her return is greeted by a media frenzy, they instantly fall in love with her and worship the ground she walked on. and well, miss mai ate it up! she loved the attention and endless admiration, and watching how quickly things could go up and down depending on if she said something positive or negative on a particular item. she likes control and the thai media is essentially her puppets. mai’s presence was idolized, but her philanthropic work also pushed her into the limelight. she works directly under executive leadership for un women on behalf of the united nations, and she’s the face of notable charities as well. mai also travels around to work hands on, as she has a preference for. her fashion and beauty work is limited as she prefers her humanitarian work the most, but she started a project in 2018 that funds and overseas internships for fashion students in underfunded communities to work directly under the creative team of luxury brands. in thailand, she has been credited in helping diversify and having an eye for new talent in the emerging fashion scene. 

she just finished her scout tour in regards to her project in asia, with the last stop actually being in tokyo! in both desperate need of a break and wanting to shift over politically a bit more seriously, mai decided to join the program after wrapping her final major schedule. her primary reason in joining has shifted in acquiring allies, keeping an eye out for potential enemies, and networking with others in general to support nisa for the throne. will go to the ends of the earth for nisa and her mother, so she is not wary of backstabbing to ensure her sister acquires the throne (she already bends the thai media in their favor back home).

 wasn’t necessarily a bad kid, more so cheeky and playful than rebellious . acted out a bit during high school ( partying, smoking, drinking, etc ) but all of that is under wraps, and no one really knows about the details of her time in france !

she’s not short ( 5′5 ) but will only wear things with heels/platforms because she wants to be tall really badly :( her achilles heel .

loves to travel ! her work already keeps her consistently on the move, but she does want to settle down at some point .

with her philanthropic work , she’s the face of notable charities and works under the direct leadership of un women for the united nations . takes part in hands on work as well as takes part on speaking tours .

with her fashion work , she funds and overseas a fashion internship program . she is the muse of thai designers disaya and stretsis .

likes to be around people, talks a lot and is a true social butterfly . doesn’t have a low social battery but needs alone time at certain points . 

has become big on trying to keep her private life as private as possible, but it’s a bit impossible back home .
