DA:I Dalish - omg not another mage on your way good luck we don’t have templars and magic is so very uncontrollable without them around to oppress people DA:O Dalish - Mages are super important the best and purest of us and we have enough so that it’s a competition also sometimes we’re so desperate for mages we need them sent to us like in the case of Merrill

When I hear the song Medicine by Daughter, I think of Warden Mahariel and Warden Tamlen. Possibly one dying from the Taint before the other. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Also drawn on my tablet in a drawing app, and with no stylus. I think I’m getting the hang of that!

Dalish children sitting in the mud and drawing vallaslin on theirs and their friends’ faces.
Dalish children running around naked until they become apprentices and the warriors and hunters don armor for the first time.
Dalish children about to become apprentices who steal one of the clan’s halla for a rite-of-passage joy ride that has half the adults screaming and the other half cheering.
Dalish children learning from trial and error which bugs and leaves are safe to eat and which should only be touched if you want a medical emergency.
Dalish children who never get sick catching a cold for the first time and convinced they’re dying.
Dalish children sleeping in and outside of aravels in piles of limbs and smooshed faces.
Dalish children always getting something to eat even if the hunters have to starve themselves.
Dalish children growing up speaking their clan’s colloquial mish-mash of Elven and the country’s Common.
Dalish children learning that lethallin and lethallan are synonyms for trust and love and home.

DRAGON AGE 2 SENTENCE MEME ↳ purple hawke edition
❛ you’ll have to be more specific. a lot of things are my fault. ❜ ❛ don’t worry. killing people and helping people are what i’m best at. ❜ ❛ with what i’ve bumped into in _________, nothing surprises me anymore. ❜ ❛ let’s be more specific. i don’t do anything involving children or animals. ❜ ❛ so i shouldn’t slit my wrists and dance naked under the moonlight just to fit in? ❜ ❛ i’ll have to remember to use that. ‘ a demon made me do it. ‘ ❜ ❛ you mean this is real? no wonder i can’t wake up. ❜ ❛ you should pay someone else. like me. i like being paid. ❜ ❛ is this the part where you tell me you’re an abomination? ❜ ❛ look at these guards. i doubt either of them has to worry about having pretty children. ❜ ❛ leave it to me. by the time i’m done they will swear that the sky is green. ❜ ❛ just point me in the right direction, and i’ll get you some peace and quiet. ❜ ❛ so… care to explain your particular brand of crazy? ❜ ❛ this person is like an underpaid brothel wench. (s)he enjoys leading us on. ❜ ❛ still trying to ferret out everyone’s business, i see. ❜ ❛ don’t worry. (s)he probably means to carry you off into the moonlight on the back of a horse. ❜ ❛ i thought the point of hiding was not to be found. ❜ ❛ that does ring a bell. hard to remember… i’ve killed so many things. ❜ ❛ i’m sure something is wrong somewhere, but right now it can wait. ❜ ❛ you think he put the cobwebs up to discourage tax collectors? ❜ ❛ we could bring him back as the undead and then kill him again. ❜ ❛ we’ll bring him back in one piece. or maybe two. hard to say, really. ❜ ❛ betrayal sounds bad. next time, i’ll go with flowers. ❜ ❛ that’s why i remain unimportant. less pressure. ❜ ❛ your boys don’t sound bright enough to follow a map. i’m sure they didn’t get too far. ❜ ❛ i assume you mean he’s ‘ crazy ‘, not just ‘ very upset ‘. ❜ ❛ funny… in my house we always felt running away from violent mad(wo)men was a good thing. ❜ ❛ so the wild-eyed hysteria is just for show, then? ❜ ❛ if they hadn’t seen the place, i’d expect the first complaint to be about the corpses in the hall. ❜ ❛ (s)he does like to add one and one and get eleven, doesn’t (s)he? ❜ ❛ usually people don’t say things like that unless they’re about to stab someone in the back. ❜ ❛ i can only imagine there’s a huge market for the homes of deranged killers. ❜ ❛ why don’t you start small, and leave the chains for when you’re more experienced? ❜ ❛ no need to go overboard with the thanks or anything. ❜ ❛ i never meet anyone normal… ❜ ❛ no, i just came here because i have nothing better to do. ❜ ❛ are you about to die? am i? why so serious all of a sudden? ❜ ❛ then i’ll only ask very smart questions. ❜ ❛ we’re not looking for virgins’ blood or the tongue of a hanged man or anything, are we? ❜ ❛ i’m surprised you know what a note is, let alone know how to read one. ❜ ❛ you could send him gold and he’d complain it was heavy. ❜ ❛ i bet their first task will be cleaning up the entrails the last shift left behind. ❜ ❛ so the best way to make daddy love you is to steal his money? ❜ ❛ i don’t think ‘ sense ‘ is really my strong suit. ❜

“You don’t know what it is, do you?”
“I told you what it is, it’s a horrible monster. Now shut up before it comes over here and eats us.”
“Kindness suits you.”
“I think I’m quite allergic to it.”
“I’m placing you under arrest for murder, conspiracy to commit murder and, I don’t know, possibly littering.”
“So that plan worked out well.”
“Your entire plan consisted of, and I quote, “Let’s get up close and then see what happens.”’
“I think the whole thing worked out rather beautifully.”
“You are vastly outnumbered.”
“Your situation has become quite untenable.‘“
“You are within moments of being swarmed by these filthy creatures of undeath and torn apart in a maelstrom of pain and fury.”

“Are you kidding? I jumped off a building – of course I’m hurt.”
“Panic? Fear? Three empty parking spaces in the Sanctuary?”
“If things go wrong, I’ll lead them away.”
“If you don’t see me in five minutes, then I’ve probably died a very brave and heroic death.”
“Oh and don’t– Oh, and don’t touch the radio–I’ve got it tuned right where I want it and I don’t want you messing that up.”
“You are such a moron.”
“Don’t be jealous of my genius.”
“Every solution to every problem is simple. It’s the distance between the two where the mystery lies.”
“I love you all, even those I don’t particularly like.”
“Found something?”
“Look, this is all very, very weird.”
“How would that be OK??”
“Stop doing that.”
“Stop doing what?”
“He could be a butterfly dreaming he’s a man.”
“I haven’t had a chance to do it nearly as much as I’d like.”
“You have no idea about presents or what they mean. The last present you gave me was a stick.”
“So this is it? Is everyone here?”
“Aren’t you afraid it might get stolen? We’re not exactly in a good part of town.”
“It’s really not as bad as it sounds.”
“So this—What’s happening and what’s going to happen, this isn’t your fault.”
“You can’t control everything, and not everything is your responsibility.”
“I wanted to tell you then, but I didn’t have the words and I didn’t have the time.”
I’m here because I choose to be.
“You save my life. I save yours. That’s how we work.“
“Until the end.”

Eloren tried to hold in the visible awe at the sights around her. This temple was... amazing. She had seen many ancient elven temples on her travels, all ruins. This - this was something different entirely. And Mythal. How could this even be?
Try and contain yourself Eloren, she scolded herself. You are a Veteran Grey Warden Commander. Hero of the Fifth Blight. You are not some shem'len child in a sweets shop.
"Is - is this Arlathan?" The question slipped out before she could stop it. She winced and looked down. If this was Arlathan (she couldn't believe she was actually considering that a possibility!) then she technically should know that. If this wasn't Arlathan, then she made herself look as a fool and also, she technically should know that too.
“Oh yes da’len, we have been close friends for many years.” Many wasn’t a strong enough word to describe how long she’d known the one The People now called The Dread Wolf. She knew him by his true name, whispered it in private in conversations between two souls. Now and then, his true name spoken aloud, but often caused anger in Elgar’nan that she would dare.
Mythal lead the strange girl who didn’t seem to know the most talked about subject across the nation, hurried toward the maidens who greet her with smiles, “Please draw a hot bath and find something more festive for our new friend.”
“Come come, is there anything else? Questions, things you need?”

The Dread Wolf? Fen’Harel?
Was this some kind of trick? Perhaps played by the Agents of Fen’Harel? But - that didn’t make sense. None of this made any sense.
“I... see.” No, no, she really didn’t. Eloren gently played with the ends of her long hair. She needed to stop and think - to work out where she really was. If she asked any more questions, surely - surely Mythal would be curious as to why she didn’t know so many things she probably knew.
“So you and the Dread Wolf are... friends?” Well, there was something the Dalish didn’t know.
“This is the temple of Fen’Falon.” Mythal whispered, like the name was a secret, as she gestured toward the wolf statues so prominent in their culture. “However, I wouldn’t advise calling it that to the sentinels.” The wolves were accompanied now and then by a dragon statue.
“They do not approve, you know.. of anyone being a friend to the Dread Wolf.” She had never been too concerned with the opinions of others, unless it came to her children.
