Friendly Reminder
- Nesta Archeron resisted the power of two High Lords. One of them is the most powerful High Lord of history.
- Nesta Archeron stole too much from the Cauldron, a artifact that has unimaginable power.
- Nesta Archeron almost made Cassian, a 500 years old Fae, to fell on his knees and beg for a touch.
- Nesta Archeron killed hundreds of enemies using her powers without training for battle.
- Nesta Archeron faced the King of Hybern alone to protect Cassian.
That’s how our girl is powerful. Please feel free to continue this list.

People have a problem with Nesta Archeron because they want perfect, blameless, and nice female characters. The complex, complicated, rough-around-the-edges, traumatized-but-still-sexy characters are reserved for men only. Why, even in literature, are women still carved up, folded, and set neatly into their boxes? Male characters never get admonished for their short-comings or their mistakes or their past. They get praised for being “bad boys”, “gruff and “sexy”, “confident” and “well-rounded”. Female characters who don’t fit into this double-standard sized box are stamped with words like: “bitch”, “hard-to-love”, “abusive”, “toxic”, “mean”, and the list goes on. A male character has flaws and he is “well-written”. A female character has flaws and she is “a bitch”. A complicated male character gets a Character Arc. A complicated female character gets a Redemption Arc. A male character gets to grow. A female character has to apologize.
