Last night, at almost 2am, I crept from my room, past my sleeping family.
I haven't been home in a while, I forgot which steps creak and which ones don't.
I step outside in my pajamas, my boyfriend's hoodie sleeves pulled over my hands.
The tree my dad wants to cut down is bare, brown leaves on the floor and large mushrooms sit at its roots.
I lay underneath it, and look to the sky. There are no stars. It is empty and cloudy above me.
I beg for faith. I ask for something - a sign to push to forwards, to give me hope.
But there are no stars in the sky.
I hear footsteps around me but when I look there is nothing there. No life and no stars.
I go back to my bed, feeling pretty hopeless. I wake late the next morning feeling the same.
When I go downstairs, my grandparents are visiting. My grandad remembers that he had something for me - something he found among the gravel.
"A fossilised plant stem, I think." Is what he tells me as he puts it in my hand, it's small and grey.
And it looks like a star.

Tips for Making Your Own Correspondences
I would like to start this by saying please be culturally aware when doing this. Respecting closed practices is something we should all be doing!! Some things are not always yours to use, please be considerate of that!! This quick guide is meant to make the most of the things you have on hand, and can be used for anything you can spare for spell work.
Start by making a profile of your object. List out its functions, associations, characteristics, etc. to get a full understanding of it. I mentioned starch in a previous post so I’ll use it as and example:
Starch is used as a thickening agent in cooking, this is the time I interact with it most often. Sticking with that thought, starches come from lots of different vegetables. Common ones in recipes are corn, potatoes, and peas.
There are already many associations here: cooking, various plants/vegetables, the recipes that require these ingredients. This initial list of associations is where the profile starts, research the various things that fall under these main points to analyze your object. This has the potential to be very complex, so if you want to stick close to what is relevant to you, that’s okay!! This is with the assumption that after research you can determine any parts of the object’s history you should be wary of, just be mindful!!
Once you’ve created your profile, use it to make your correspondences!! Going back to the starch example, I mentioned it being used to “thicken your skin.” I used starch specifically in this because it’s something the object already does. This object is already capable of this thing, so I call on that thing in my spell work. That is my basis for making correspondences. Simple but effective, and has opened plenty of doors in what I’ve used. Being a witch is about being crafty and making the most of what you have!! I hope this post helps people do that!! As always, do your own research, be safe, and happy witching ♧

I see…
🔮🪄🔮🪄🔮🪄🔮🪄🔮🪄🔮🪄🔮🪄🔮🪄
- I see Circe in the reflection of my mirror as I say my divine prayers in the morning, and as I adorn myself with my devoted jewelry before I go out on the town.
- I see Circe in the runes i draw and the wards I lay scattered through my home, and I feel her around me in the process of making them.
- I see Circe when the lights in my house flicker when I’m thinking of or engaging in Magick activities.
- I see Circe while I meditate to allign my chakras and charge my energy to confront the days or weeks ahead of me.
- I see Circe when I feel the childlike joy that encompasses me as i engage in the divine, when i explore the metaphysical realm and the magical properties and spiritual belonging I get to experience in doing so.
I see Circe

Potentially hot take, but I actually think it's really important for white witches and pagans to learn about black and brown spiritual practices (from practitioners of those traditions choosing to talk about what they're comfortable sharing with outsiders) not in a "I'm going to learn hoodoo!" kind of way but in a "these conversations are how we kill harmful stereotypes and learn how to be a good ally" kind of way.

When people say, “nature is my religion” are they talking about flies that feed on shit, maggots in decomposing corpses, lionesses with stained teeth and mouths full of blood? Are they talking about floods and fires and things from which we should always run? Are they talking about carcasses, rot, death?
Or do they just mean “this particular copse of benign trees is my religion”

Crafting a Spell is Just like Cooking
This was a revelation that hit me recently, and I wanted to share it.
When you first start cooking you are not going to create gourmet food right off the bat. You might start with simple foods and will definitely be following a recipe.
Mistakes will be made, food will be burnt, and you might even confuse baking powder for baking soda. I sure did.
But as you get more experience you will learn what flavors go well together, how much spice is too much or too little and start questioning recipes. You might even start creating recipes of your own or growing your own ingredients!
This, to me, is exactly like spell crafting. We all start off recreating spells from other witches' and as we learn we start understanding what does and doesn't work for us until we start creating our own spells.
Don't let someone belittle you for having to look up a spell. We all start somewhere and it is perfectly fine because you can grow and learn from it.

"But I need generative AI to help me with witchcraft-" No, you just suck at witchcraft. Sorry, but that's literally all there is to it. If you were actually studying techniques, and actually using your senses and mind to truly observe and comprehend the world around you, you would not need generative AI to tell you what to do.

Cheap Divination Method: Witchy Alphabet Soup
An idea came to my mind today: How can I guess specific words, names, without use a pendulum? I don’t want use the Ouija and I can’t tune with pendulums, so I was short of methods, and for a while wondered what to do. And today I got the idea. CHEAP idea (Trash Witch at the rescue).
The idea is: Make an alphabet soup in a paper and drop anything ring-ish, so the letters that are inside the ring, are the used letters of the word.
How tow make it? Two “ingredients”: Paper and rings.
First you need to get a paper (A4 kind of paper is the perfect size), it can be blank but if is squared sheet, damn it will be way easier. Then you fill it with letters. You can be savage and do it randomly, or follow a typical alphabet soup squared form (which is not needed, I just use squared sheet because I can measure better how big the letters are and how far they are from each other).
The tricky part is which letter and how many from each other are needed. In English speaker people is easier. Here https://wordsearches.brightsprout.com/word-search-maker?gad_source=1 is an alphabet soup maker, quite cool, just follow it and you will be fine. Have in mind that the frequency of letters in English (from most to less common) are etaoinshrdlcumwfgypbvkjxqz. So make sure to have enough of the first half at least. A good rule to make it is writing that first etaoinshr word 4 times, then dlcumwfg 2 times and ypbvkjxqz one time. Repeat it until fill the page (I think repeat it 5 times give you a good chunk of letters with which you can work, but it depends of how big is your page). Make sure to make it a little messy, but just flow with it, who I’m to tell you what to do.
DISCLAMER: Different languages have a different letter frequency, so you will have to check that if you want to do it on your native language. In my case (Spanish), the frequency is e, a, o, s, r, n, i, d, l, c, t, u, m, p, b, g, v, y, q, h, f, z, j, ñ, x, k, w. But in any language, do the same, part the set of letters in 3 (very frequent, common and less frequent) and do the same than in English.
So after that you will have a nice page of letters. So now with the ring part.
Here the trick is found something ring shaped where the center is empty, so it let you see the letter inside, and heavy enough to toss it in the paper. If you do it with rings made of paper, will be maybe too light. A firm cardboard can maybe work. My favorite are these ring links used in jewelry to put different pieces together. They are heavy enough for the work.
Tumblr media
If you drink a lot, you can maybe use the ring pull, but you will need letters big enough because the joke is that you need one letter fitting perfectly inside (If inside the ring is two half letters, is not an answer. It must be at least 90% the letter to consider it a firm YES).
You can also play with what you have. If you have one ring, good, throw it one time, take note the letter, throw it again and again, until you have a word that have some sense (Yes, it can have mistakes but if the final word is something like HELTP you can know that say HELP. But if it says INWLSW is like nonsense).
If you have several rings, you can throw them all together. I personally use 5 because witchy pentacle, right?
In my case will look like this:
Tumblr media
So yes, that’s my initial idea. Be free to use and experiment with it, see if works for you. Plus, it looks innocent enough to witches in the closet!

thank you so much!! it will be very very helpful ( ╹▽╹ )
(it's @massinha on the witchcraft sideblog)
hii, can you tell me more about the enchantment you put on your watch and how it works, pretty please? ʕ·ᴥ·ʔ
also, please excuse my main blog, it's a safe space but if it makes you uncomfy feel free to tell me >< /gen
hi! (。´∀`)ノ i don't mind your personal blog at all! i'd be happy to expand on enchanting! d(・∀・○)
**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ preface ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*
all of my spell work is rooted in my own personal beliefs and practices. i'll gladly share my own process, but i won't be sharing my full spell. this is because i truly believe spells are most powerful when you make them your self! you can definitely use what i share as a sort of guide or template, but don't be afraid to customize my work to make it more suitable for you! 人´∀`)
**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚about the enchantment˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*
for this enchantment, we want to work with intentions of focus, memory, and motivation. the enchantment itself is honestly really simple. we want to boost focus to prevent procrastination, boost memory to help keep track of time, and boost motivation motivated for the tasks ahead.
if you're new to spell crafting, a website called "pinecone.pub" is a pretty useful resource for finding herbs and crystals to match intent! don't be afraid to get a bit creative. maybe you might decide to utilize the element of water to symbolize the smooth flow of time. or you could use sunstone to symbolize the desire for productive days! spend some time thinking about what you want to add, and follow your intuition!!
one thing i really recommend is waiting to cast this spell when you feel the most energized. personally, i'm more of a night owl and i tend to get most of my best work done in the evening. so, i cast this enchantment at around evening time! listen to your body's circadian rhythm. do you tend to feel more energized during the morning? maybe the afternoon? whatever time you notice your energy naturally peak is when i would recommend casting this enchantment.
**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚the process˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*
now that you've gathered your materials and chosen your time, this is how i cast the enchantment! feel free to customize these steps to fit your craft better!
: ̗̀➛ cleanse your work space and your materials. be extra sure to cleanse the watch you're enchanting!
: ̗̀➛ in a bowl, place an unlit tapered candle in the center. this candle will sort of act almost like a timer. the fire acts as a catalyst for enchantment. i like to use a small votive candle holder for this, so the candle holder goes in the center of the bowl with the candle in side.
: ̗̀➛ place the watch you're enchanting around the candle holder. if you aren't using a candle holder, you don't want to wrap the watch too close around the candle for safety reasons
: ̗̀➛ now, while focusing on the intention for each ingredient, surround the watch in the bowl with your chosen ingredients. if you're using herbs, know that you don't have to fill the entire bowl with herbs. just use enough to create a circle around the watch.
: ̗̀➛ after adding all your ingredients, light the candle. keep watch as the candle burns - we don't want to start any house fires!
: ̗̀➛ once the candle completely burns out, the spell is complete!
**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ what comes next ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*
an enchanted watch can be very useful if utilized correctly! here are a few tips i use to get the most out of this enchantment.
refresh the enchantment every quarter. every january, april, july, and october i redo this enchantment to keep it fresh. one thing i really like to do is include an element of each season in the spell to help resemble the passage of time! for example, in january i add a pinch of sugar (i always associate winter with sweet treats lol), in april i add the bloom of a wisteria tree, in july i use watermelon seeds, and in october i'll use an acorn.
make an effort to create a schedule to follow! this spell works best when you have an actual schedule to follow. the enchanted watch helps keep you on schedule... but how are you going to stay on schedule if you don't have a schedule? there are loads of ways to make schedules! i personally recommend time blocking. asana has a great article about it called "7 tips to start time blocking your schedule today"!
ᴄᴏᴍᴘʟᴇᴛᴇ!
that's essentially it!! i hope i was able to explain it properly... i feel like i'm not the best at explaining my spells (๑•́ ₃ •̀๑) if you still have question, let me know!

Overview
This beloved seasoning is native to Central Asia and northeaster Iran. There are many subspecies grown in food gardens worldwide and used for many different purposes. There are two types of Allium sativum, hard neck and soft neck. Hard neck garlic does better in colder climates and is harvested, not only for the bulb, but also the scapes. Soft neck tends to grow better in warmer climates and is ideal for making braids.
Planted after the first frost, garlic has historically been used for food, medicine, and magic. It is ready for harvest when the leaves begin to wilt.
⸙༄𓆤𓆩𓆪❁𓇢𓆸🏵
Folklore
The folklore here is included because not all witches are of European descent and I wish to be inclusive. Please be respectful of cultures which are not your own.
Tumblr media
-Legend of Tangun-
A bear ate only a bundle of mugwort and 20 cloves of garlic for 100 days, while avoiding sunlight the whole time, to become a beautiful human woman. She gave birth to the founder of Korea.
Tumblr media
-Hecate's Suppers-
Garlic wreaths are one of the many offerings given at the new moon crossroads suppers of the cthonic goddess Hekate.
Tumblr media
-Vampires-
Rubbed on the heads of children in China and malaysia, slavic countries hang them in braids and wear them around the neck. They also stuffed corpses mouths with them and poured them into suspected vampires’ mouths after staking them through the heart or decapitating them (the corpse). (Information was found in a book titled "In Search of Dracula: The History of Dracula and Vampires" which is, unfortunately, no longer available on Archive.org where I originally found it.)
⸙༄𓆤𓆩𓆪❁𓇢𓆸🏵
Uses in Witchcraft
A protective plant against death and spirits. One effective way is to braid them together, asking for their protection, and hang above a doorway or on the doorknob. You can also add cloves to food or jars/bags when dried. Powdered garlic may work in powder formulations for banishings and general protection. It's also a common ingredient in Four Thieves Vinegar which is good for cleaning, magical and mundane.
⸙༄𓆤𓆩𓆪❁𓇢𓆸🏵
Safety Notes
Those with gastrointestinal sensitivities or ulcers may find that garlic aggravated their condition. Use only culinary amounts if on blood thinner or during pregnancy, in the postpartum period, and during lactation. Avoid 2 weeks before and after surgical procedures.
⸙༄𓆤𓆩𓆪❁𓇢𓆸🏵
Conclusion
While garlic is not a native plant for me, it is one that I grow every year in the garden and that I'm planting right now. Ironically it also keeps rabbits and other animals away from my spring seedlings. Protective all around then! What do you like to use garlic for?

the scientific method in magic 🧪✨
employing the scientific method for spellwork and witchcraft in general can be super helpful for a variety of reasons. namely, it involves critical thinking to formulate and cast spells, and to assist in reflecting on your practice and methodology.
the steps involved:
observation & theory
question
form a hypothesis / make predictions
experiment
analyze the data & draw conclusions
communicate
let's use a glamour spell (in celestial magic fashion) as an example for the following bit:
✧✧ observation and coming up with a theory: i believe that i can use magic to cast a successful glamour spell that will earn me compliments on my outfit, but without being catcalled or anything of that nature.
✧✧ question: how can i reach my desired goal? how can i cast this spell in order to make it successful? what items would i need in order to do so? what day of the week or time of day would be best?
✧✧ hypothesis: if i enchant my favorite perfume with venusian energy and use it on myself and my clothes, i will reach my desired goal. if i anoint this obsidian pendant with full moon water, i can program it to add a protective shield over myself against unwanted attention from unsavory people.
✩ with the hypothesis, i think it's important to also include the timing for the spell - how long do you want the effects to last? are you doing the spell in one day or spread out over many days? maybe you just want the effects to last while you are wearing that perfume and pendant. does the perfume work without the pendant and vice versa?
✧✧ experiment: this part is kinda self explanatory - the way you perform the spell or enchantment is totally up to you.
✧✧ analyze: what went well? what didn't? what might you like to change? how did you feel during this time period? did you reach your goal in the end?
✧✧ communicate: in this case, record your findings in whatever way you see fit but you're not obligated to share them with anyone. recording your results will help you gain perspective and ultimately help you to better formulate spells in the future.

5 tips for the work-at-home witch ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
when i'm not witching around, i actually have a day job! my job is primarily a work from home job, spending my days alone in my room writing reports and reading legal documents... it gets stale (●´⌓`●) this is a list of some little witchy things i do to keep my head on straight and prevent myself from going mad and impulsively quitting my job!
some of these tips might also work for students!
you might have to switch it up a bit, but some of these tips could help you get through homeschooling, digital learning days, or homework.
₊˚⊹♡ 1. light a candle ♡⊹˚₊
one of the first things i do when i begin work for the day is to light a simple votive candle. the element of fire is a strong element, and by lighting a candle you can harness the energetic energy of the flame. the goal of lighting a candle while you work is to keep yourself "fired up" per say ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ . light the candle with the intention of remaining motivated and energized. for extra effectiveness, you could dress the candle with herbs that also have energizing metaphysical properties. (remember, though, always double check that your herbs are safe to burn!)
₊˚⊹♡ 2. use a sigil ♡⊹˚₊
sigils are an extremely simple yet effective way to use magick! personally, i like to draw the sigil on the back of my dominant (or "working hand") with a non-permanent marker. if you follow this method, be sure to wash it off once you've finished work for the day! leaving a sigil on your body too long can be a bit draining in my personal experience.
if you're more artsy, you could make a piece of art out of a sigil to keep on your desk. a painting, a piece of embroidery, a sketch, or even some digital art done and turned into your desktop wallpaper (tech witches would love that, i feel.)!
i personally like to make my sigils for work out of phrases like "may i work efficiently", "may my work be done properly", but & "may information come easily to me".
₊˚⊹♡ 3. money bowl ♡⊹˚₊
i actually haven't done this yet (˃ᆺ˂) it's a spell i plan to do during the next full moon.
but! the idea of a money bowl is to essentially bring more money in to your life. if you're looking for a promotion or a pay raise, a money bowl on your desk certainly won't hurt!
₊˚⊹♡ 4. work outside ♡⊹˚₊
if you're able, work somewhere other than you're typical working area at least once a week. coffee shops, libraries... even a different room in your house! the change of energy will keep you from feeling too stagnant.
i really recommend taking your work outside, if able. sometimes, i print out a few documents i need to read and go sit out under a tree in my yard. sitting outside in nature not only helps to keep you grounded, but it also helps foster your connection with the local nature spirits. connecting to your local nature spirits AND getting your work done at the same time... talk about multitasking! (ᴗᵔᴥᵔ) if you can't work outside, then take time during your breaks to step outside. a small walk or even just sitting outside under the sun is enough to help keep your centered.
₊˚⊹♡ 5. enchant a watch ♡⊹˚₊
i have severe ADHD, but i also have severe severe severe anxiety. because of this, under my doctor's guidance, i can't take ADHD medicine for fear of my anxiety medicine not working effectively. since i'm rawdogging my ADHD i tend to have a hard time staying on schedule... so i've enchanted my watch!
i recommend using materials that promote focus and organization. ever since casting an enchantment on my watch, i've noticed an uptick in my overall productivity in all facets of my life - work included. i haven't missed a deadline, and while i still have a nasty habit of procrastinating, once i finally make the effort to begin work i find myself staying on schedule way easier than before.
that's it for now! if you have any questions or would like me to go further into detail about certain things, feel free to send me an ask! <3

one of the best minimalistic witchy things you can do is clean your house.
seriously. light a candle and go to town. in the process of cleaning, you’re also metaphysically cleansing your space which opens doors to renew wards and put up additional barriers if necessary.
you’ll feel much better afterwards, and remember to take breaks if you need to.

Witch tip: Be sure to distinguish which correspondences are social constructs (for example, associating roses with romance), and which are informed by nature (for example, associating the color red with life, because blood).
This isn't to say that social construct correspondences are bad or lesser - they aren't! But distinguishing between the two helps you develop a better sense of what you can play around with, and how.
