Hera.Well, I'm here, to remind you of the mess you left when you went away. It's not fair, to deny me of the cross I bear that you gave to me. You, you, you oughta know.

A groan fell from her lips as she rolled over in bed, tapping her alarm clock to silence the noise. “What the hell did I do last night,” she questioned aloud. Her head was pounding, body feeling like it got hit by a freight truck. Hera grabbed her phone from her beside table as she slowly moved to sit up. The screen read 3:33pm, making her relax as her fake memories began to fill her head again. A twelve hour shift at the hospital. Her fourth in a row. That’s why I feel like crap, she thought to herself, nerves rolling off her back. “Time to do it all over again.”

What do you love most about Ares?
His strength (and I mean that in every sense of the word). I have never once worried about Ares getting everything he can out of this world and it is such a comfort to a mother knowing that her child will truly thrive. | @thriveonconflict

Artemis watched Hera for a moment, weighing the elder goddess’ words. “I have no quarrel with you,” she replied, “Or with anyone. Should I be afraid of someone hoping to strike?” It wasn’t quite asking if Hera was threatening her, but it was close enough. She shrugged, “See if they’re taking care of my wilds mostly, see how they are. Watching the children take in the splendor of nature for the first time is always a delight. How’ve you been all these years?”
“I wasn’t implying that someone was after you. Simply making sure you knew to never let your guard down.” In all honesty, Hera didn’t have any issues with her at present. Everything that had happened in the past was ages ago now. The other girl was no longer on her radar. “And what happens if they aren’t? Do you really think it smart to take it upon yourself to punish them?” At the simple question, she shrugged one shoulder. “As fantastic as always.”

Do you think you are a good mother?
I am a fantastic mother and anyone who thinks otherwise should take it up with me. Sure, I may have incredibly high expectations for them, but what mother doesn't? I know what they are capable of and I know what they need to do to succeed.

“Lucky we are immortal so i never have to.” Iris replied, tossing her a little wink. They were quite playful with each other, the winged goddess always trying to keep Hera distracted from her many responsibilities and woes that seemed to cloud her mind. Of course Iris walked right into bringing up those thoughts that very moment by mentioning her child. “Oh darling, we are really all just kids though, given that we never have an proper end like mortals with their age. Let’s just focus on the happy parts of the evening instead.” Iris said in an attempt to wave the notion off and cox the other from their brewing storm. “Well, if you mean fix of six, then yes. One or two, you know I never do anything without going full out, and I wanna be full while we are out.” They giggled. “ Just give me a moment, My queen.” Iris fluttered off to the snack table, coming back a moment later with not one, not two, but three small plates of food. “I couldn’t decide, care to have a seat and make a little event out of this?”
Hera’s head fell back as she lightly laughed for the first time that night. “The perks of having a friend so dear,” she told them with a smile. Despite bringing up more frustrating situations, Hera appreciated that Iris was always ready with a bright side. While she didn’t always agree, it was nice to see. “My children still go through their phases. Ares is just lucky that I stopped trying to interfere eons ago.” Which maybe wasn’t completely true, but she tried her best. Hera’s lips curled into a small smile at their comment on being full. Of course she knew there was no way to stop Iris from doing everything to the extreme and in truth, she wouldn’t really want to stop them. With a slight nod, she then watched as her friend fluttered away, eyes scanning the room again. “May have been easier to simply move the table,” she commented. Hera turned to make her way to an empty table, knowing Iris would follow along so they could have their own little feast. “I meant to ask sooner, but do you have any idea of what we’re celebrating here tonight?”

Do you love Zeus or would you leave her for someone else?
Do I love that she constantly goes around and makes a mockery of our marriage? Absolutely not. Will I leave her because of it? No.
When Zeus and I married, I took a vow to honor said marriage, so I will not go back on my word. Choosing to spend eternity with someone is not a decision I take lightly, and being who I am, it is not one that I will ever break.
I love her, but I am not in love with her. That is a part of me she no longer deserves.

‘You look like you’re having as much fun as I am.’ Hades raised an eyebrow as he spoke to the Goddess.
@magicwasteland·
Hera couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at her lips. “What gave me away? My spinning on the dance floor or the sound of my laughter heard through the halls,” she asked with a playful sarcasm.

“oh i am truly not worthy to look upon such a goddess,” narcissus put a hand over his heart, bowing at the waste before the queen. “queen hera what an honor to run into you this evening. stories only do your beauty a fraction of the justice.”
She slowly lifted a hand, encouraging him to rise again. “Ah, if you keep up with this flattery, we’ll be great friends before the night is over.” Hera prided herself in knowing of each and every individual in Olympus. “Tell me, Narcissus, are you enjoying yourself this evening?”

“Of course.” Nemesis didn’t like causing trouble, at least not among the gods, and this certainly was quite the rift of things to stir up. “I will continue to try my best.” Though, even her best felt a bit underwhelming. “I’ll just keep my eyes open for anything, but I haven’t seen anything so far. Shall we get a drink?”
It was impossible not to see how serious Nemesis was about the situation, so Hera felt it necessary to at least look into things. “I believe a drink will do us both well. As much as I understand where your concern is coming from, I don’t believe it to be necessary. I would have heard about any sinister plans.” Or so she hoped.

Iris’ wings gave a little flutter when the other complimented them. “Oh, this, please I do try but it is nothing compaired to your natural glow, my dear.” They mused at the other. SHe felt so nurtured near the other, having been cast aside as the main messanger of the gods and put much more under hera’s direction, they saw her as their stability at times. “Oh my well, Ares and aphrodite were oftly passionate on the dance floor, haven’t seen hermes in a wile or plutus… huh… and oh had a lovely dance with your brother in law bur besides that, I’ve really kept myself busy with the snacks.”
“You flatter me all too much,” she easily replied. “Though I hope you never stop.” It was rare for Hera to have such a special relationship and it was one she wouldn’t trade for the world. At the mention of her son with Aphrodite, her nose immediately scrunched up in disgust. “Still not sure what he sees in her. Kids will be kids. May he just snap out of it sooner rather than later.” Her eyes quickly moved to the familiar mop of hair on the dance floor and then back over to Iris. “Think you can sneak a snack or two for me? I’ve been awfully distracted tonight.”

hera !
“oh, please,” she scoffed, taking a swig from her drink, already feeling the headache coming on. “this isn’t the wedding of thetis, they’re already halfway to an orgy down the hall.” the moment the thought of joining them struck her was clear on her face, bright as day. she didn’t voice it, didn’t have to. “everyone has seen it all before, hera ! “ if not with one of her various flings, then with ganymede — she had no shame about pulling her cupbearer onto her lap in front of the whole host of the gods. “you think your petty vengeances garner you any more respect ? they will not. i don’t want you on my arm tonight.” at this point, it was rare that she ever did. “find someone else.” she said it like a dismissal, although she knew it wouldn’t be taken as such. the two of them, once they started, rarely stopped.
At the mention of a potential orgy, she rolled her eyes. Last thing she needed was her wife joining in while she was left mingling on her own. “Just because they have seen it does not mean that it needs to be flaunted constantly,” she told her. “This is a gala not a brothel!” Hera easily crossed her arms over her chest, leveling Zeus with a stare. It no longer hurt when she was dismissed. At this point in their relationship, it was inevitable. Though that didn’t mean that she just accepted it. She held her own until they both stormed away from each other. “You know as well as I that I will not find someone else because one of us respects the sanctity of marriage.”

@magicwasteland· || Hera & Persephone
Hera always bestowed the urge to bow, on Persephone. The Queen of Mount Olympus carried herself in a way that Persephone had never mastered. Where She was all sharp angles, scuffed satin slippers and poor posture, Hera was the opposite. She was tall and regal, stunning and wore her regality as easily as one would wear a shawl.
Persephone stiffened slightly when she stopped in front of the Queen and couldn’t resist the urge to give her an awkward little bow of acknowledgment. “You look well.” Persephone said gently, smiling up at the Queen but unsure of what else to say. “…the sun agrees with you.”
Despite the various mingling bodies around her, Hera found herself content to watch it all. To stay off to the side and keep track of the various couples, the arguments, and the fools. Should she be approached by someone, she’d partake in the useless chatter, but she never did the approaching herself.
“Persephone,” she commented in a way of greeting. A polite smile tugged on her lips at the clumsy way of a compliment. “As do you,” she replied simply. “Though you could use a bit more sun yourself. Come back up to the real world more often. Hades will survive.”

“Nothing new, which is my point exactly. People are here from all over…it only seems suspect to not think something is going on. Something nefarious.”
“Have you noticed anyone acting suspicious? Anyone who doesn’t quite fit in here? If there’s something terrible going on, we’ll get to the bottom of it. Try to just enjoy yourself.”

Artemis at least had the decency to look a little embarrassed, “I’m used to being the hunter not the hunted.” It was a weak joke that did little to cut the tension. She relaxed though at Hera’s question, “Oh I have no idea. I’ve been doing a tour of the National Parks in the New World.”
Hera rolled her eyes at the joke in her excuse. “You should never get used to one thing over another,” she started. “That’s when someone can strike.” While she wasn’t a hundred percent sure if Artemis was being truthful or not, she accepted it for now. “Anything specific you’re looking for or do you just like to human watch?”

@magicwasteland- Event starter·
There she was, their shining Queen in all her magnificent glory. They approached the other with wide open arms, wrapping her into a tight hug before kissing both her cheeks. They loved their relationship with the other, something much closer to platonic soulmates than a queen and messenger. “Hera, my dear darling shining star, you look gorgeous! Do have a drink with me, won’t you? I fear I won’t get time later if you go off now.”
As soon as Hera saw Iris approach, her entire demeanor softened. While there were quite a few people who always had her on edge, her friend was one of the few who did the exact opposite. “I look gorgeous,” she repeated with a chuckle. “Have you seen yourself this evening?” Her hug easily matched the excitement and love coming from them. “Wouldn’t dream of grabbing a drink with anyone else. Catch me up on things I may have missed!”

“This is quite the party, bringing people together is one thing, but I suppose bringing everybody together like this must be some sort of special affair.”
“Do you think so? Seems like every other party I’ve been to. If you think we’re all celebrating something special, what could it be? There’s no wedding, no new child...”

@magicwasteland·
As a general rule, Artemis tried to avoid Hera. It seemed a logical enough choice given the circumstances of her birth. Of course sometimes, like tonight, it couldn’t be avoided. Still, when she spotted Hera walking her direction, Artemis attempted to duck into another room, pretending as though she didn’t hear someone calling her name.
“Artemis,” she called out cooly, slowly but surely making her way over to the goddess with her head held high. Hera easily followed through the rooms, keeping her eye on the brunette dodging other guests. “To think that you could really run from me,” she commented as she shook her head. “You know better than that. Now tell me, what do you know of your- Zeus’s latest conquest.”
