Enzo was going about his daily snacking on locals, not paying much attention to who he grabbed though as soon as he went for the kill, he noticed something familiar, the striking golden locks. Retracting his fangs and realising his hold, he took a step back. “Well well. Look who it is.” The same witch he’d previously bitten into. “Witch.”

kitty was on her way back to her car from the garage when she spotted what looked like a couple in an alleyway. but something felt off about the whole thing. and then, a familiar face appeared from the other’s neck. “oh good lord,” she muttered. “vampire,” she countered. “having a midnight snack, i see.”

“Just because that’s how it’s been doesn’t mean that it has to stay that way.” Andrew replied. “Give it a chance. You owe yourself at least that.”
kitty took a deep breath and nodded hesitantly. she didn’t trust easily. not anymore, at least. “i guess at least one night wouldn’t hurt,” she said softly.

“Well to be fair, I never stayed in one place too long.” Ronnie shrugged. Kitty had been a little younger than her, but they lived close enough that they had formed a sort of friendship. “What are you doing here?”
kitty nodded. she remembered that ronnie had moved away before she’d been locked up. but kitty had always liked her. even became friends. “latest in my string of places i stay. just working at a car garage. what about you?”

Josie couldn’t help but laugh softly. “You know I don’t really think of it as a boarding school. It’s been my home since I was a kid. I don’t really know anything else.” And in some ways Josie hated that. She hated that she’s been sheltered.
kitty nodded. a part of her couldn’t help but feel a little jealous. there were kids who hadn’t been ripped from their home and way of life. “i’m sure it’s nice to have a home like that, though,” she said. or a home at all.

♊ ― he nodded thoughtfully, a silent true, true in the way his brow rose. “what you really should’ve done is fried my hand off. or popped a few blood vessels.” he tapped his temple. “a classic!” but she looked confused, more so than anyone who knew what they were doing would. “not enough books, then. vervain ― it’s like acid to vampires. makes your blood not so smooth going down.”
kitty blinked and tilted her head in confusion. “and how exactly would i do that?” she asked, not realizing that he knew about her abilities. about what she was. she rolled her eyes. “okay most of the books i read were fiction and that’s totally up to interpretation. cause, ya know, up till now i thought that vampires were a myth.”

“You and I both. Aren’t we a pair?” So it seemed, he got the joke. “Oh by the way, I’m Enzo.” He should have begun with that. Yet he still was lacking the politeness in introductions he once had. Forgetting friendliness and going directly for enemies by opting for the bite first and ask questions letter version. Not the best way to go about it, but the conversation did turn around surprisingly.
kitty let out a slightly choked laugh. she took a deep breath. “i’m kitty,” she replied, looking up at him. “if i wasn’t so messed up in the head, i’d probably be asking a million questions about vampires that i’ve had for a long time. but i can’t seem to think of any of them,” she chuckled softly. “at least you don’t seem to be a jerk vampire.”

starter for @magicalxkitty!
🖋️ ― Seeing a mechanic already at the shop, Stefan waved at her as he approached the open garage. “Hi.” He looked around briefly, but doesn’t waste too much time acting casual. “I saw them ad. Are you still hiring?”
kitty looked up when she heard someone close by. “hi there,” she replied, wiping her forehead on her forearm. “oh. yeah i saw that. guy decided he wasn’t making enough and decided to try raiding the register. maybe he should have been a better mechanic,” she chuckled. “but uh, boss is on a break right now.”

“No more magic but fangs instead.” Unless of course she was a siphoner witch, but that was a story for another time. He was sure she’d already been through a lot, adding that all to the confusion would do no good. “Choice is all yours.” He gave her his blood already, so, her fate was now in her own hands. Not his. “But maybe the magic isn’t your problem.” He suggested. “You witches are a lot stronger than you think. With and without your magic.”
kitty blinked. she wasn’t honestly used to having a choice when it came to the big decisions in her life. at least she hadn’t for the last six years. it was throwing her. “my choice,” she breathed to herself. she looked back up at him when he said her problem wasn’t the magic. “i have a lot of problems,” she tried to joke, though she wasn’t sure it came off right. her chest tightened at his comment.

♊ ― considering the magic coursing through her veins, he wasn’t surprised she clocked him as a vampire. was curious that he was ‘another’ vampire, though. “hm.” he let his fingers slowly unfurl, releasing her wrist. watching her carefully… then he cocked his head at her, squinting in thought. “why are you just standing there?” stepping back or trying to create distance from him didn’t count. “let me guess. you’re taking vervain.” he wasn’t going to fall for the old poison apple trick.
kitty tilted her head in confusion at his reaction. she retracted her hand back to her chest. she was tired of all the vampires grabbing her. she frowned at him. “what are you talking about? i’ve read enough books to know that running isn’t gonna do anything against one of you. aren’t ya’ll like super fast?” she asked, her twang peeking through. she tilted her head. “what’s vervain?” she asked, confused.

“Just as picturesque and all ending in tragedy.” As romantic novels did best. “You’re right about one thing. I did offer.” Although the help had certain conditions which is what he was getting at. “By offering you my blood I gave you a choice, a choice I also gave to the other witch.” He was working an angle as if to turn tides that had already been washed to shore. “But it was never enough.” But it was the kindness in his heart, that he couldn’t take that choice from someone, even now. “You could become a vampire. Your witch problems would be solved. All I have to do is snap your neck…”
she let out a soft snort. those stories never seemed to really touch on the messy parts. the parts where you wondered if you should keep going. the pain, the empty feelings. she tilted her head, wondering where he was going with that start. “okayyy?” she asked, urging him to continue. she was a curious thing, after all. she blinked in surprise. she wasn’t sure if that would truly help her hunter problem but it might her hospital one. she didn’t know too much about real vampires but she’d read enough as a tween to know the gist. vampires were strong. he could never hurt her again if she was a vampire. “it would be gone...,” she muttered. but would her fear?

he just looked at her, a little confused by her words until he realized she must have joked “oh ha, i have visited many cities on only a month, can’t always be sure because i never read the sign” he laughed “i am sure it must be much better to have your own car, drive wherever you want and whenever you want, wish i could have the same freedom. yep, a newbie, but got family and friends here. you’ve lived here a few months? this may sound strange to say to someone you have just met — very mysterious and inexplicable things, has it happened here not long ago?”
kitty chuckled, leaning against her car. “yeah? big cities or small towns? i usually end up in smaller towns,” she said. “though it does tend to be easier to tell where you are when you read signs,” she added playfully. she nodded. “yeah for sure. i don’t know what i’d do without a car. especially since i'm a mechanic,” she replied with a nod. “oh well that’s cool. yeah not too long or anything but it’s a pretty decent place i guess. you’re right that does sound strange. and a little suspicious to be honest.”

“Funny you should say that because that witch, the one who I protected, got stolen from me.” He was very touchy about that and the entire subject in general. “Everything I did back then was to protect her and while it was quite the love affair it is no longer.” He didn’t know where he stood anymore. He no longer had reason. “That kindness got me killed. It got me here left with nothing, so, even if I could help you. Why should I?” There was nothing in it for him and he was pretty much sold on going the route of a raving lunatic from here on out.
“geez what were y’all doing? playing keep away with someone?” she asked. “that sucks though. so you fell for her? sounds very romance novel,” she replied, though there was no judgement in her tone. she tilted her head. maybe he understood how it felt to put trust in something and get it snatched away. “look you’re the one who offered, remember? and it caught me by surprise. you don’t know me. i don’t know you. why would i expect you to help me? besides, i’ve been okay on my own so far. it’s better that way than before. the vampirism just kind of threw me off guard.” she was just trying to be honest. she wasn’t trying to trick him or anything.

“Yep, a whole school. It’s meant to help people like you and me, and it has. Since I started there a few months ago I already have better control over my magic.” Andrew replied. “You’re not alone.” He had a feeling she was someone who had felt alone for a long time.
“help. i don’t know. i’ve been told i’m pretty past help,” she said sarcastically, though it wasn’t with her usual tone. she winced again. if she was going to go with him, she’d have to get over that aversion to magical words. she had no idea how, though. her eyes burned. she wasn’t alone. “i’ve been alone for a long time.”

“Not entirely.” He just let out a fair few important details. “I did help a witch hide from a shady organization who went around collecting all sorts of hidden gems like you, actually, they captured me first until they later realized I’d rather work for them.” It was not until later did he discover he couldn’t trust them at all. “They promised me information about my family and then later claimed to be family.” Enzo never did discover anymore than just their word. “As they were less inclined to tell me more, I took something they wanted, the witch.”
kitty kept her distance as she tried to keep her face blank. she’d let down her guard and now she was trying to build it back up. she knew better. her eyes narrowed slightly as he called her a hidden gem. she wondered. was it that type of organization that had killed her parents? but he’d said they collected. she shook her head mentally. it wasn’t the time to dwell on that. “right. so now you steal people. you’re very confusing,” she told him with a small scoff.

“Ah, sorry. Yeah, no I also stupidly offered a drink to whoever sat down before even checking to see who was beside me.”
kitty let out a chuckle. “well i mean at least you’re friendlier than some of the other people i’ve met,” she replied.

♊ ― “i know, i know. you’re not inclined to believe a word out of this mouth. i commend you for that, truly.” despite the validity of his sentiment, the words came out flat. not disingenuous, but hardly substantial. “that being said, i’m feeling quite parched. so if you don’t mind.” he grabbed her by the wrist, eyes not leaving hers as he fully intended to compel her to compliancy.. until he felt the familiar buzz of magic from their touch. his eyes sparkled in delight.. and realization. a subtle smirk. “definitely not crazy.”
kitty let out a slight huff as he praised her lack of trust. he didn’t exactly seem like the trusting type, either. her face dropped and she took a step back. “oh good gravy. not another vampire,” she muttered just as he grabbed her wrist. her eyes widened as he locked eyes with her. something felt off. something felt different. “what....?” she asked, completely confused about what was going on.

“Nice to meet you.” She offered a welcoming smile. “Sort of. My school relocated here a few months ago.”
“yeah you too,” she replied, her smile small. kitty nodded. “ah. that’s cool, i guess. haven’t been in school for awhile,” she said with a shrug. “and i never went to a boarding school.”
