I am not trying to minimize the fear that a lot of trans people in the USA feel about the proposed regret study in the pipeline, but we have to look at the consequences of similar studies, such as Cass Review, in the UK, a profoundly more transphobic state than the USA. The study did not stop access to HRT in the UK, even though the UK doesn't even have informed consent for HRT. It will be much harder for HRT to truly go away in the USA precisely because the government actually doesn't control the flow of all HRT to the people that need it in the same way that the NHS does. The infrastructure for informed consent HRT in the USA, incidentally, is taken for granted by trans people in the USA, but there is a reason why I keep saying that the one clinic in Tokyo is the only informed consent clinic in all of East Asia. Ultimately, what'll stop the access to HRT from this admin is the tariffs on the medical goods, moreso than anything else.
