Final Publication Spreads
I am really happy with how this has turned out. I think it fits the target market well as well as being legible and aesthetically pleasing.

About Me Page Developments
Another thing Fiona mentioned in my feedback was that the about me page wasn't very exciting and was quite boring. I took this advice in a positive way to try and better it. I tried to think of ways people can view themselves and thought what better way than a mirror. Sometimes people look at themselves in the mirror and tell themselves that they can do it or use it to look at themselves and convince themselves they are better and able to do whatever they choose to be. I thought using frames was a more fun and creative way of expressing notes down so thought this would make it more fun and interactive.

Front Cover Concepts
Looking at different layouts of the front cover page of my publication booklet design. I’m leaning more towards the top one mostly, but still unsure.

Poster Development
After redoing my publication design I needed to touch up the posters so that they matched in with the cohesiveness of the project. These are the designs I have come up with and I think they work well with my project background.

Decorative Page Adjustment/Development
After receiving feedback from Fiona regarding the decorative pages and her questioning about why the words were necessary, and coloured different and if there was another way I could showcase these. I decided to draw icons for each career on Illustrator and use these as an indication to what the words were displaying, but in a more fun way that is also relevant to the other illustrations showcased in the publication.

WIP 3
Based off the feedback I received from Fiona I create more of a design system throughout. I think I want to add in more elements of pink throughout similar to the interview pages and see how that looks. I am also unsure on using photography however I don’t have enough of my own images to use it throughout the entirety of the publication.

Creating a new Design System
I made a couple of concepts for a design style which I then emailed through to Fiona. Her response was “Looking better – see if you can find a system to lock up the name and role so they seem connected. Keep using ques from research 😊”. I am going to continue with these elements throughout the publication design.

Looking at a more Muted Colour Palette
After my chat with Fiona as well as some other feedback I received I found that they said the original colours were too overpowering and weren’t necessarily working. I wanted to keep a form of pink throughout but have it in a more so muted way. This beige colour was displayed a lot throughout my research around contemporary design styles and I thought it worked quite well when paired with black typography an the pink as well.

Font Adjustment/Change
I thought with changing the design system it would come with changing the font and colour palette as well. I was looking at contemporary type faces and used the image search on Adobe Fonts which gave me some similar fonts to the one I had liked on Pinterest. I found this one when scrolling through the variety. I really like this as I felt like it had a little bit of character. The serifs make it quite feministic as well as being bold and legible.

Contemporary Design Style Moodboard
After speaking to Fiona I decided to take a look into the contemporary style of design. I really like this style a lot and feel like I can use these images as a great source of inspiration in my work. I want to also try use photography as another element throughout the publication.

Feedback from Fiona
Today in class I got feedback from Fiona regarding my publication prototype. Above is some of the comments she made. The key things I took away is to create a better design system, contemporary practise style and incorporate elements that introduce the idea behind the booklet.

Feedback on Prototype
I asked a friend in class for her opinion on my prototype when printed. Below are some comments she made:
Orange can be slightly hard to read - maybe adjust the colour to be lighter and more contrasting.
Make pull quotes in interview bigger and bolder.
Adjust the quotes throughout in speech bubbles to be a bolder font.
From here I am going to adjust and make these changes and see if it turns out better when in a printed manner.

Next Steps
Now that I have been approved of an extension this takes some of the pressure and stress of. I am going to use this week as prototype week as I missed that opportunity last week. I am going to try print off the publication I have designed and see how it works as a booklet. From here I can make more changes such as font size and colour adjustments as well as scale and grid arrangement. I will then get some feedback from one of the teachers regarding their thoughts on my prototype.

Updated Interview Pages
I had to play a bit with layout for these two interviews. With one having a lot more writing to fit I had to create one to be a DPS with writing that is displayed on two pages whereas the other one just being displayed on one page. I think these work well together and the illustrations blend in well with the rest of the publication showcasing cohesiveness throughout.
