For my final project, I decided to include elements of Earth Art, Pop Art, and Formal Elements. This work was a lot of fun and I wanted to try to juxtapose the luxury items that we often get caught up in with the beautiful Earth that we are on, which sometimes gets overlooked in the era of technology.
For the Earth Art portion, I started by making a background of earthy toned browns and oranges and blending them together. I then collaged some images from my magazines that I thought celebrated nature and the beauty of the Earth.
For Pop Art, I found images throughout my magazines that I thought represented "luxury" items, products, or ideas. These symbolize parts of life that I feel like we can get caught up in with the rise of technology, social media, etc.
Finally, for Formal Elements I split the work into two sections, with one having warm earthy colors, and the other having a cooler blue hue to further juxtapose the ideas. I also made the brush strokes in different ways for each section.

This is a great piece! I really like that you kept Haring's vision in your re-creation while also giving the artwork your own details!

My chalk design was inspired by Haring's work entitled, "Best Buddies." I used the similar two-dimensional, vibrant shapes and colors that Haring employs in his work. I attempted to keep the design as consistent with the original artwork as my talents would allow. I love art!

I chose to do this artwork to demonstrate the societal pressures to become the perfect version of ourselves. I made the human-heart figure to demonstrate that society encourages people to be tough, trendy, and sweet at the same time. Finding balance within these realms can be hard. I also included flowers, leaves, and makeup/sparkles to highlight the struggle between natural beauty and trendy beauty. Society expects men and women to look naturally beautiful, yet encourages beauty-enhancing methods.

My collage gives insight into the societal pressures to look a certain, and perfect, way as a woman in the digital age. I included a variety of images of women in portraits and several different mirrors. These symbolize how women have to be "picture-perfect" and how we always are looking into the mirror to ensure we look flawless.
In contrast, the piece could be interpreted as looking to many different women with diverse appearances and empty mirrors without expectations for a more positive outlook!
This assignment was very fun, as I liked putting together so many different gold clippings with elegant vibes. I also boiled down some pink flower petals to make a dye to paint the background.

Here is my collage depicting the societal pressures we face in a digital age. I included a combination of sayings that put pressure on us to be perfect or to change ourselves to conform to what society wants. I also included some sayings about the digital age or images of technology to represent how those societal pressures are constantly bombarding us due to how much technology has developed.

Here is my chalk art drawing! It is inspired by Keith Haring because I noticed a lot of his work had big, bubble letters and had lines and other designs around the message to make it pop and feel fun! While the saying is short and sweet, I hope its a feel good message to anyone that walks by it on the trail!

Here is my Earth Art! I started by using earthy tones to create the background, then I painted a leaf green and pressed it onto the background a few times. I finished the work off my pasting some images I found in my magazines that I thought showcased the beauty of nature, or words that went along with the nature theme.

And here is a great song by Louis Armstrong that celebrates nature!

Here is my feminism project! The product I chose is a serum that touts its "youth regenerating code" which already gives off the notion that we aren't as beautiful as we age and that we should strive to look younger. Based off this, I included the sarcastic phrases "Beauty = Your No. 1 Priority" and "They'll love you" since it seems like these products want us to care more about outward beauty than inward beauty. And here is an awesome song called "I'm Every Woman" by Chaka Khan!

Here is my Arte Povera project! It was fun going through my magazines looking for words that would seem comical on an outfit. I also tried to make it seem like the outfit was popping off the page by watering down my paints and making long, wavy brush strokes for the background.

Here is a song that I think symbolizes going against the grain!

To create my background, I painted a small stress ball (in place of a marble) and then let it roll around on my paper to create movement. It was really fun seeing the different patterns that the ball created as well as the way the colors mixed. I opted for an overall theme in my Pop Art project of opposites, with the background made by the stress ball looking more chaotic, while the orange border around the paper is more ordered. There were also opposites in play with the word "food" that I found repeated, while the repeating products I found were different types of drinks.

Here is an awesome song that is inspired by the product, Red Solo Cups!

Here are two awesome songs by Tina Turner: "We Don't Need Another Hero" and "What's Love Got To Do With It", both released in the 80's. She was an amazing singer and her fashion sense was amazing as well!
