rimmer/lister really is the Ship Of All Time. the adhd x autism couple. the sun x moon couple. rivals to lovers but they're not really rivals they're just coworkers who piss each other off (and they're not really lovers either). lister thinks that he hates rimmer but starts having gay kissing dreams and getting sad and nostalgic the minute rimmer is gone for more than a few days. the fact that rimmer was bought back from the dead to keep lister sane. to keep him company in the vast emptiness of space. they're best friends. they hate each other. they could have any room on the ship but choose to stay bunkmates. they're constantly bickering but they deeply need each other. they know each other better than anyone else in the universe does...........

red dwarf show vs novels is crazy because you watch the show and you're like 'wow this is really funny! some of these sci-fi concepts are really cool though, i wish they were explored more' and then you read the novels and its like oh.
