It's been a really long day
So, I think we have my curriculum sorted out for next year, just going to purchase next year due to the one year access code. Surprisingly a lot of it is going to be a continuation from what I had back at public school. It's going to be interesting to see what the online tools look like because we never used them back at school.
So, my subject list is going to be: English, Maths 10A, Science, History, Geography, Civics & Citizenship, Economics & Business, Religion, Health & Physical Education, Child Studies (for obvious reasons), Digital Technology, Food Technology, Theory of Music 4, Cello 4, Piano 4, Acoustic Guitar 4, Musical Theatre 2, German, and Latin.
I know it looks like a lot, but it actually really is not. Though Cello 4, Piano 4, and Acoustic Guitar 4 might not come to fruition given that the baby bump might make it harder to play the instruments, but I personally have no problem having those extended to next year if the need arises, especially since they are non compulsory and it shouldn't impact the reporting too much (especially when explained why). The only one that might is Physical Education as, given it is compulsory, I do need to show I meet the standards, though I hope I get some leniency with the pregnancy, especially since I am already a fairly active kid and will be working on the health component at least.
Choices listed below
English: Pearson English 10 (Pearson)
Maths 10A: Maths Quest 10 + 10A (Jacaranda)
Science: Science Quest 10 (Jacaranda)
History: History Alive 10 (Jacaranda)
Geography: Geography Alive 10 (Jacaranda)
Civics & Citizenship: Economics, Business, Civics and Citizenship 10 (Cambridge)
Economics & Business: Economics, Business, Civics and Citizenship 10 (Cambridge)
Religion: Understanding Religion 10 (Cambridge)
Health & Physical Education: Health and Physical Education for the Australian Curriculum Years 9&10 (Cambridge)
Digital Technology: Practice IT for the Australian Curriculum 2 (Cambridge)
Food Technology: Food for You Book 2 (Cambridge)
Theory of Music 4: Theory of Music Integrated Course and Workbook Grade 4 (AMEB)
Cello 4: Cello Series 2 Grade 4 (AMEB)
Piano 4: Piano Series 18 Grade 4 (AMEB)
Acoustic Guitar 4: Rockschool Acoustic Guitar Grade 4 2019+ (Rockschool via AMEB)
Musical Theatre 2: Musical Theatre Series 1 Grade 2 (AMEB)
German: Katzensprung 3 (Pearson)
Latin: Cambridge Latin Course IV (Cambridge)
Now, for Child Studies, there isn't really a textbook that I can use, so I'm going to have to go about that a little differently. Fortunately, Child Studies isn't actually a class option in grade 10 here (only in NSW), so it isn't actually going to be counted in my reporting. Anyways, between the antenatal classes and than the practical experience of taking care of my own baby, I should be fine. Especially since my mum is kind of forcing it to be in the pile in order to make sure I actually do put in time to study how to take care of a baby.
Now, mum is probably going to get a lot of additional resources to use, especially once we knuckle down what is involved in each subject, but this is the general idea of what my homeschool year will look like. I will eventually add in another textbook (horay) based on what TAFE course I want to study in 2024, but that is a discussion for later in 2023.

So, given that there are a lot of black Friday savings on stationery right now, mum does want to go shopping with me for what to get, especially since she said she wanted me to enjoy being in my study area in order to motivate me to my school work (fair enough). Like, we've both definitely seen some fun or cute items that I would love to use next year, especially now that I don't have any dumb restrictions on what my stationery can look like (why couldn't I have some colour on my book covers?).
However, mum wanted to take care of next year's curriculum before we go splurging on supplies. Fortunately she had saved up quite a bit of money that was supposed to go to my public schooling next year - especially since I would have needed a lot of new items for grade 10 - but since that isn't happening, she has money saved that she can use towards my curriculum.
For now the plan is to browse around on official textbook publishers websites and see what they offer, especially the ones that I used this past year at school. We're not sure whether I would actually continue to use them or use another company's textbook, but we're spending today (and probably also tomorrow) investigating what the best options are for my one year of homeschool.

So...I told my boyfriend the news today. He took it well.
No, not really, he was a bit too shocked by it all. He had come over to my place since he hadn’t seen me at school for two days and was worried about me (aww) and mum figured that I should tell him. Probably best that I did that without his family around, to be honest, they really would have had some rude things to say.
I can’t blame him too much for his response though, it’s hardly like he planned to have a baby before we even finished compulsory schooling. Not sure whether he intends to stick around for this baby, I hope he will, but given how our conversation went I can’t be too certain.
Hell, I’m still trying to wrap my head around this, and I’ve known for four days longer than him. This little baby still doesn’t seem entirely real to me. Mum says it might become better when I go to the doctors in a few days. I hope so.

Well...this has been an eventful day.
After discovering I am pregnant on Friday (now officially five weeks), mum had requested an urgent meeting with my principal in order to discuss the issue and what it would mean for my tenth year. However, instead of being understanding of the circumstances (or remembering the fucking law and that I am under 16), she insists that I be excluded from school for the rest of the year and that I am no longer welcomed back to the school for tenth grade.
So, I'm now going to be homeschooled, starting from next year (taking the rest of this year off to get ready).
I'm really just starting this blog in order to essentially journal my pregnancy and my studies once homeschool commences. I think keeping a routine log of what is happening in my life would be beneficial for me as I try to go forward with this situation. Mum has been nothing but wonderful in handling the news this past week, and I owe them everything, and I'm sure they will support me in my education journey and pregnancy journey.
Words I never thought I would utter at fourteen.
I suppose this would make my occult studies and pagan practices easier to maintain than it was while I was at school, so there is definitely that benefit for me. I might even share some of those aspects of my life on here, though for now they are currently on the back burner until other, slightly more pressing matters, have been resolved.
Anyhow, hi to everyone who is reading this, hope you enjoy reading about the drastic changes that are happening in my life. I enjoy Tumblr's privacy, so I think I'll stick around as I go further along in my studies and in my pregnancy, and any interest rabbit holes I go down throughout my time on the platform.
