The song is about finding peace within violence. Peace within the person’s abuse. Forgiving those who continue to abuse them.
Yeah, I'd rather be a lover than a fighter (fighter)
'Cause all my life, I've been fighting
Never felt a feeling of comfort, oh
And all this time, I've been hiding
And I never had someone to call my own, oh nah
I'm so used to sharing
Love only left me alone
But I'm at one with the silence
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me, there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me, there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been silent for too long
I've been quiet for too long
I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me, there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long
I'm in need of a savior (savior), but I'm not asking for favors
My whole life, I've felt like a burden
I think too much, and I hate it
I'm so used to being in the wrong, I'm tired of caring
Loving never gave me a home, so I'll sit here in the silence
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me, there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me, there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been silent for too long
I've been quiet for too long
I've been quiet for too long
I found peace in your violence
Can't show me, there's no point in trying
I'm at one, and I've been quiet for too long

The song is about wreckless love. A fun youthful love. To go skinny dipping, skydiving, long drives, holding flares, graffiting streets
‘Setting fire to our insides for fun’ damaging ourselves for reckless fun because we’re depressed but also reckless.
Shadows settle on the place, that you left. Our minds are troubled by the emptiness. Destroy the middle, it's a waste of time. From the perfect start to the finish line. And if you're still breathing, you're the lucky ones. 'Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs. Setting fire to our insides for fun Collecting names of the lovers that went wrong The lovers that went wrong. We are the reckless, We are the wild youth Chasing visions of our futures One day we'll reveal the truth That one will die before he gets there. “And if you're still bleeding, you're the lucky ones.”
and if your still being vulnerable with your love, then you’re a lucky one.
“'Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone. We're setting fire to our insides for fun. Collecting pictures from a flood that wrecked our home, It was a flood that wrecked this home”
destroying ourselves because of our vulnerability in love. collecting photographs that have caused disturbance. A metaphorical flood in the home, yet your heart bleed and overflow. “And you caused it, And you caused it, And you caused it Well I've lost it all, I'm just a silhouette,
I’ve let myself bleed too much, that I’m a silhouette. A shadow not an object or person.
I'm a lifeless face that you'll soon forget, My eyes are damp from the words you left, Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest. Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.” And if you're in love, then you are the lucky one, 'Cause most of us are bitter over someone. Setting fire to our insides for fun, To distract our hearts from ever missing them. But I'm forever missing him. And you caused it, And you caused it, And you caused it

Turning Tables.
This song talks about love. The idea of ‘turning the tables’ is like ‘if the tables were turned”. In the reverse Adele sings she will leave him instead of him leaving her. She has turned the tables on him and left the struggling relationship ‘close enough to start a war’.

This song is about love. If we look at the saying “it’s water under the bridge” it means that whatever it is has passed and means nothing now. The lover in the song seems to not care about the relationship or Adele but Adele sings that she still wants to keep a connection despite her pain.

Heavenly, that was me
A vision at seventeen
Loves to read, loves to dream
The college of Magdalene
You saw a light starting to shine
Wanted it only for your eyes
Older and wise, God on your side
(I paid for your life, I paid for your life)
I was innocent when you said I was evil
But I took your stones and I built a cathedral
Found my peace when I lost my religion
All these years I wished I was different
But, oh, no, now I know
I'm holy 'til you let me go
Tried to pray the pain away
Just like you told me (but something had changed)
Came to shelter from the blame
But I left taking all the shame
Oh, you saw a light starting to shine
Wanted it only for your eyes
Older and wise, God on your side
(I was the martyr who paid for your life)
I was innocent when you said I was evil
I took your stones and I built a cathedral
Found my peace when I lost my religion
All these years I wished I was different
But, oh, no, now I know
I'm holy 'til you let me go
I'm holy 'til you let me go
I'm holy 'til you let me go
I'm holy 'til you let me go
I'm holy 'til you let me go
They told you that?
That's what was the most shocking to me
Was not that it happened in the first place
But that there was no one looking after you
The song is about abuse. She was innocent at 17 dreaming and reading books. She was Christian “college of Magdalene” mother Magdalene.
Perhaps the shining light is gengis khan.
“I payed for your life” I took the pain for your life. Your life was painful so you took it out on me. I payed in pain for you.
“I was innocent when you said I was evil” you threw salt at me calling me demon child when actually I was innocent and just had mental health issues. Salt to exorcise demons or possessed people.
“I took your stones and I built a cathedral” sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. You gave me pain and I built something beautiful.
“I was the marytr who paid for your life” martyr is someone who dies for a cause. I died for your pain. You hurt me and I died for your pain.
“Came to shelter from the blame and I left taking all the shame.” I hid in my room sheltering from the pain but. You blamed me and I took the shame. I felt ashamed by you calling me autistic.
You pointed at me shouting I was autistic over and over.

“Yeah, you really tried But I was planted all the lies you told me, oh All the shit you've done You can't outrun the way you understand me
You acted like you bought me at a bargain sale You don't even care You focused your frustration on a small detail Blew it out of scale, like my ponytail
Well you don't want to see the girl I want to be
Then why, then why should I listen If you don't want to do the things I need from you Goodbye, goodbye 'Cause I gave it away, I gave it away, I gave it away And I'm taking it right back
I'm no blow up doll, no free-for-all No slave to your decision, ooh Gotta find a way to break the spell To get the hell away from those who block my vision
You used me as a fragment of your grand design, hey And you, you don't get to put me on your bottom line You don't get what's mine, and I'm doing fine
Said you don't want to see the girl I want to be Then why, then why would I listen? You don't want to do the things I need from you Goodbye, goodbye
I gave it away, I gave it away, I gave it away I'm taking it right back, baby
Well you don't want to see the girl I want to be Then why, then why should I listen If you don't want to do the things I need from you Goodbye, goodbye
'Cause I gave it away, I gave it away, I gave it away, I gave it away I'm taking it right back, hey Taking it right back, baby Taking it right back”

Well I think its quite obvious what this love song is about. It’s telling her ex lover that he cant keep using her or trying to make her into his idea of perfection.
It’s nice because this seems to be a personal song for me. “You focused your frustration on a small detail. Blew it out of scale.” and the line “I’m not blow up doll, no free-for-all. No slave to your decision” makes sense to me, since in essence I’m a blow up doll too.
