Zoro: Remember how you didn't know that song until you met me?

Lil: *looks at him confused* I definitely knew that song before we met.

Zoro: No, I remember you saying you hadn't heard it.

Lil: *starting to get annoyed* You are mixing me up with someone else. I knew this song.

Zoro: Except you didn't.

Lil: *frustrated* You can't tell me what I knew before you. I'm older than you!

Zoro: *very calm and very amused* Exactly, so your memory is going bad.

Lil: *actually mad* I cannot believe you right now. *throws a pillow at his face* You're sleeping alone tonight.

*Two weeks later driving around - Down in a Hole by Alice in Chains comes on the radio*

Zoro: Ooh... I am so sorry. It was this song.

Lil: I'm dumping you.

{This was my actual first fight with my husband. Yes, I still bring it up 12 years later.}

Zoro: *Immediately steps on Lil's feet and trips them both up*

Lil: *Stops and adjusts their position moving one hand from his shoulder to his lower back*

Zoro: *Looks down at her surprised* What're you doing?

Lil: Leading. *Looks at him confidently* When I move you follow, ready?

I was about to ask about Mundane Kaku AU, then I saw it

We've talked a fair bit about the Kaku AU anyway! (Not that I wouldn't happily remind you) It's the lil slice of life until it's not a slice of life one ;)

I have mentioned Mayor Crocodile before too but I don't think I've gone too far into detail. In all fairness, it's not something I have entirely sorted out in my mind yet. It was more of a brainwave that I decided I needed.

Props to @lyndsyh24 for it, because I was happily living in the modern au with WG arranged marriages and toying around with all the various possibilities when I was like "how would it go with Crocodile?"

And of course, because it is Crocodile, it would not be so simple.

Partly bc I think he's probably not the generation that's being targeted by this - in his 40s, it's really younger people who now have to go through the program, so in some ways he's dodged it. But when he encounters the proposal that he should really be leading by example as he's the Mayor, he starts calculating about how he can make this work.

He doesn't want a wife and child/ren. But maybe he can manipulate the system to work for him instead.

So I imagine that reader is probably a fair amount younger than him? Not too young, probably still mid-twenties. I think reader is probably a little in the same boat as Wani, not wanting to get married and have babies but how do they avoid it? I think possibly too reader will have PCOS or something that will involve low fertility and that's how Wani zeroes (hehe) in on her.

I don't know the full beats of the story outside of that yet, but we'll see where it goes when I finally get to sit down and play with it.

Oh man, off the top of my head all I can think is like those Science Fair type presentations or whatever.

Lil has resources (I imagine there's at least one workshop on those big house grounds.)

Quill has Experience.

Marco has an ulcer xD Walking in on you building a small engine to be powered by a potato, but somehow Quill knows how to get maximum effect from a specific kind of potato and the little engine ended up over-clocked and he comes in to check on the two of you (maybe bringing in snacks) just in time for a propeller to lodge into the wall from the explosion.

Now you're both trying to explain how you blew up an engine with a potato.

But I imagine it's a lot of stuff like that.

It is a lot of "Well, that's *technically* possible, yes." from Quill and a lot of "Awesome, let's do that!" From Lil' XD

I don't want to give too much away...but -

In this world relationships prior to your match aren't forbidden. You don't get matched until you're an adult. Some people sew some wild oats. The problem that Reader ran into is that she fell in love.

Then he was ripped away and they were both matched with someone else.

The series starts out with her making kind of a huge mistake... And having to keep that from Law because of legal ramifications.

Her and Law keep each other at arms length for their own reasons. But, they only have 6 months to get married.

Who caves to who? Do they catch feelings?

They're still figuring it out.

I gotta say I love that Puppy Love is slow burn, and Birds of Feather was like - three days in they're tearing each others clothes off in the hallway xD

Online is Shanks simultaneously being very smooth and constantly putting his foot in his mouth. You get to have cute text banter and awkward irl interactions.

In The Brothers you get more Newgate family dynamics. The boys are always getting into trouble and needing to be wrangled. Plus pre adoption Marco and Reader stories 🤍💜

*digs around in notes* Ahem... Here we go...

1. Puppy Love - Sister book to @quinloki 's Birds of a Feather. The receptionist at a small animal vet hospital is trying to figure out her feelings for their moody surgeon Law. It's a slow burn - big surprise if you read my work lol. Lots of awkward cute interactions.

2. Closure - Government mandated marriage AU. Reader has to get over the past to move forward with her new fiance Law. This has all the angst but some sweet moments too.

3. The One - Slow burn age gap AU with Zoro. Reader is Newgate's daughter. Lots of family drama and fun. This is also my longest book at 40 chapters.

4. Online - Online dating AU. Shanks and reader chat online but accidentally meet in person. Only one person knows who is who IRL. It's cute and a little awkward because this is who I am as a person lol.

5. OP Head Canons - I have a whole list of characters people for some reason enjoy my take on.

6. The Brothers - Spin off to The One. All the shenanigans Reader goes through with her new little brothers Ace, Sabo and Luffy.
