A young man, alone, stands on the sidewalk. He stares, mystified, at the white landscape. The snow littering the ground reflect the streetlights causing them to sparkle, like it were covered in gold glitter.
The child begins pushing themselves, their hair covering their face so he can’t make out any features. He walks over to the child, “Hello there, do you want some help?” He asked, as he has always considered himself good with kids in the most platonic way possible.
The kid looks up, and to the surprise of the young man, the kid’s entire face was covered by a piece of paper. Suddenly, words started appearing on the paper, “누구세요?”
He gave a confused look to the child, “Er.. I can’t read that, would you mind..?” He questioned, the child merely sat there quietly before the Korean disappeared and was quickly replaced, “Who?” The paper said as the child pointed to the young man.
“Oh me? I’m merely just a Samuel Windsor, at your service!” He does a mock salute, smiling fondly when the child puts a hand to their “mouth”, the paper saying “*낄낄* *낄낄*”. “What? Are you laughing at me?” He joked, happy that he could make this child laugh.
“So, what’s a child like you doing out here?” Samuel asked. The child stopped giggling and looked down, the paper writing as followed, “abandon”.
Samuel reads this one word and his gaze grows sad, “Ah.. so you were kicked out?” The child nods. “And you don’t have anywhere to go?” He questioned, his gaze growing sadder when the kid nods again.
“I.. know we met today but... do you wish to come home with me maybe?” He asked as the child “looked” up at him in surprise. “You don’t have to, it’s merely just a suggestion.” He quickly added on, before yelping when a medium sized object suddenly tackle hugs him.
He looks up and noticed it was the child, the paper repeating “yes” over and over again. He fondly smiled, and gave the child his scarf, “Let’s go then!” He ruffled the kid’s hair before starting to walk, chuckling quietly when he felt a small hand grab onto his coat.

The captain pulls their blade out of its respective sheath, “Halt! Something else is with us, be on guard!” He barks. The men draw their respective swords, the cold metal reflected off of the bright crescent.
One eye appears in the dark underbrush, before another, and another, and another, and eventually, 11 eyes stared at them. Specifically, at the blades. “Men! Pre-“ The captain didn’t get to finish as a black blade the color of the void whips out from where the eyes pierce through the night.
Blood sprays as the captain widens his eyes, he was dead before he hit the ground. A young soldier starts to get ready to scream until a different sword whips out and silenced him as well.
The soldiers stumble back, “Run!” A soldier shouts, before they all turn tail and run, unaware of the blades of black zipping through the night sky.
The beast stalks out of the underbrush, the blades jerking out of the lifeless corpses of what once was lively bodies. Could they once have been sons? Fathers? Husbands? It does not matter now, as the swords slowly get lifted up by the maws of the Sword Collector.
