How Often Should You Cut Your Hair?

I feel it depends on your hair and what your end goal is. There is no one answer to this question. For me personally, I like to go to the salon to trim the ends to avoid split ends. This year, due to the coronavirus lockdown in India, my hair grew so long but it looked so damaged and dull. I had breakages, split ends and hair fall. It was like a nightmare altogether. So, as soon as the salons opened up the first thing I did was cut my hair really short. Normally, I would visit the salon three or four times in a year to cut my hair.

If you have long hair, you should first check if there’s frizz or breakage, split ends, dull and damaged. If the answer to all the questions is yes then its best if you visit a salon. Otherwise, you should usually visit the salon at least once in three months or eight weeks if your hair is more to breakage, split ends, and appear thinner..

If you have mid-length hair and your hair is in good health, the pros say that you should trim about three or four times a year.

If you have short hair, then you should trim it once every three and seven weeks. But if you have a bob cut of a certain shorter cut hair that you would like to maintain it that way, you should probably trim it at least once every three weeks.

If you just want to prevent split ends then you should trim your hair every eight weeks. This will keep your hair looking healthy.

If you have naturally textured hair, the pros recommend 6-12 weeks if you have wavy or curly hair and for coil-y, tight curls you could trim in a two months time.
