mumu plots i wanna do bc ive been binging 2000s movies & shows

cruise/travelling tour - (insp. the lizzie mcguire movie) 2 week cruise to certain european cities? concerning cruise ship employees too not just the guests! subplots: getting lost in the city they docked in, entering the wrong cabin, missing the cruise ship bc of a late night out, mysterious guest that one employee took an interest in, bffs joining the cruise bc of a pact/bucketlist, sightseeing, flirting with locals, couple on a honeymoon, couple on a Fake honeymoon

modern royals - (insp. princess diaries) young royals in training (gives room for 25+ muses) to assume their thrones or just royal etiquette. arranged marriages, galas, banquets, sneaking out, missing lessons, flying off to a diff country (or at least attempting to), a muse like Mia Thermopolis shielded from the pressures of royalty until the age of 18 so when she starts it’s all very new, dinners with politicians, dancing at balls, newly-wed royal couple, etc!

university town square - (insp. gilmore girls) with a focus on town square shops, boutiques, stores, bakery, and the like! purely reliant on character stories. we can set up category channels for each shop and have threads. a mix of a university x small town setting if u will! give me tired college students! college students that dont care! part time student/part-time shop attendant, etc!

tv show set - (insp. sonny with a chance) there’s so many ideas for this! main actors hating each other, secretly dating the second lead, manager and stylist, editing staff, the tension in the writers room, navigating the press, making friends/enemies with fellow actors of the show, making friends with actors from a rival show, stylists knowing all the drama and beef between their clients, paparazzi, trying to get through filming during ungodly hours.

mystery gang - (insp. scooby doo) could be a group of friends that have a youtube channel together for fun, or could be a professional bunch of ghost hunters. each case they get is purely for work but somehow they get entangled with unsolved crimes and uncovering secrets while they’re at it.

PLOT !!

muse a and muse b are two people that know each other from the same friend circle. They are constantly bickering, testing each other's patience, exchanging intense eye contacts. . . etc. muse b hits on muse a on purpose, trying to get them to admit they like them, but muse a is stubborn, prideful and won't hear of it. UNTIL one day they made a bet, muse b requested if they win, muse a needs to live with them for 2 weeks meaning: sharing the same space, same bed. . . Naturally, muse a loses, leading to SUCH DELIGHTFUL, EVENTFUL, INTENSE, ADORABLY AWKWARD MOMENTS JUST. . . please please please! !

after reading a fic last night i REALLLLLY want a royalty AU where muse a is a princess and muse b has just been assigned as her royal guard. but here's the kicker muse a is kind of a pain in the ass, always trying to sneak out past muse b, and always keeping muse b on their toes. muse a cannot care less about being royalty she just wants to live and sneak off to the woods or see the merchants market meanwhile muse b is sulking after her trying to not lose their job as royal guard -and of course muse b slowly starts to let muse a get away with things growing a soft spot for them.

bonus points if they have to travel across the land for something and have to share a bed??

give me a plot where muse a and muse b, while best friends, are on total opposites of the spectrum – muse a is a total ladies-man/maneater, while muse b is incredibly awkward and fumbly around the opposite sex. they go out to bars, to clubs, to dinner or to brunch – it doesn’t matter, muse a finds it hard to leave without getting the waiter/bartender’s number while muse b tries to figure out if the human body will ever be capable of controlling the blush response. after witnessing the millionth strikeout during a night out at the bars, muse a decides to give muse b some pointers – except muse b has never felt more comfortable flirting, even if just for practice, with anyone else before<3

give me sparks flying, muse a seeing a totally new side of muse b they didn’t think existed; give me staged, practice dates; give me muse a teaching muse b how to win someone over, give me muse a teaching muse b all the ins and outs of relationships - give me muse b taking everything they’ve learned and showing up at muse a’s doorstep anyway - give me muse b taking all the advice they’ve learned and turning around to use it on muse a because the only reason any of their teachings or advice ever seemed to work anyway was because they were with muse a the whole time !!!!! give me an ‘i was in love with you the whole time and had no idea until you taught me how to give a proper kiss, and now your lips are the only ones i ever want to kiss again’ ship, thanks !!!

Wanted plots based off of rom-coms:

10 things I hate about you: muse a, the badass, was paid to date muse b, the hard headed and scary one that doesn’t date, so that the person that hired them could take out their sibling. Lots of ups and downs with muse b trying to resist muse a’s attempts at charming them and then inevitably giving in. Could even mix in the part where muse b finds out the truth for some extra angst!!

The wedding date: muse a’s sibling is getting married and so muse a hires muse b, an escort, to accompany them home for the wedding. It’s the first time muse a has been home since their fiancé broke things off with them and muse a wants to put on a show that they’re okay and not still caught up on what happened. Muse b charms her and her family and they fall for each other, and her family opens up about certain family secrets that muse a didn’t know before. Cue the drama of muse a being upset that muse b found out before she did and let the angst unfold!!

Going the distance: muse a meets muse b while muse b is in town for a few months for an internship. They vow not to make it anything serious since muse b isn’t permanently there but when muse b’s internship is over, muse a confesses their feelings and the two agree to do long distance. Just give me the ups and downs of long distance!! One trying to find a job where the other is, the late night phone calls, the quick trips, and the universe working against them.

The proposal: muse a is on the verge of getting deported and muse b, her assistant, makes a deal with them to marry them in order for them to get their green card so that they can stay in the states. The downside? The two of them hate each other and muse a knows nothing about muse b. In an attempt to get to know them better, they go home with them over the weekend and in between the fighting with each other and the family, they fall for each other.

27 dresses: muse a is always the bridesmaid for all of her friends and muse b is the opposite. They hate weddings, despite being a writer for weddings due to their own fiancé cheating on them years before. Muse b is trying to find an out in their career so that they can take it in a different direction other than weddings and while trying to come up with a way to do so, muse a leaves their planner behind in a shared taxi/uber with muse b, in which muse b discovers how many times muse a has been in a wedding. So, muse b takes the story to their boss and is given this one chance to make a story better than the ones they write for weddings. Muse A’s sister is getting married and muse b uses that as an excuse to get closer to get their story and in the midst of it all, they fall for her. Before they can take back the story or tell muse a about it, it’s published and they’re completely embarrassed. Cue angst and feelings!!

ok but a plot where exes live together… they can’t afford to live somewhere else for the time being so they figure staying in the same apartment they’ve spend in as couple for months/years is the only temporary solution for now… give me the constant confrontation of watching each other date other people, realizations that what muse a never did with muse b, they do better with their new fling/partner and what muse b could never give muse a, muse a now receives from new partner etc etc. the jealousy, lingering bitterness, out of spite still flirting with each other, hooking up on the nights they drink a little too much or maybe indifference and realizing they consider each other as platonic soulmates, because romance doesn’t work for them???

plots based off (a few) of my favorite indie romance-drama movies which you should totally watch if you haven't already:

before we go (2014): muse a misses their train home and is stranded in the city with no money or phone. muse b, who works at the train station or maybe just finished dropping someone off at the train, takes it upon themselves to help muse a get home.

the giant mechanical man (2012): muse a works a dead-end job as a costumed street performer and has never really had a sense of identity. muse b has never been able to keep a job, but starts working at a park where muse a often performs.

not another happy ending (2013): muse a is a writer for muse b's publishing business, and muse a has been pushing off their deadline due to writer's block. muse b realizes writer's block only occurs when muse a is happy, so they sneakily try to find ways to ruin muse a's happiness.

like crazy (2011): muse a and muse b attended the same college, but muse a is an international student who has to go back to their home country after school ends. they proceed with a long-distance relationship that is on and off.

one day (2011): covering the span of 10-20 years, muse a and muse b are long-distance college friends who meet once a year and love each other at different times until it's too late... or it isn't.

blue valentine (2010): muse a and muse b's relationship was full of sparks when they were younger and they loved each other recklessly. but muse a gets accidentally pregnant and the two start a family before they're ready. as time goes by, muse a and muse b grow apart.

comet (2014): muse a and muse b met while watching a meteor shower and start a whirlwind romance that, after a few years, is reaching its end. muse a makes a wish wanting to go back to the day they met muse b and enters a parallel universe with the opportunity to change the course of events.

a young woman, muse a, lives in a small town with her mom and alcoholic stepfather. her mom works long hours, and her stepfathers blows all their money on alcohol and gambling. she feels trapped and hopeless, dreaming of leaving town and starting a new life. she meets muse b, and it is love at first sight. muse b talks about wanting to move to the city, so muse a starts to work as a waitress to save up some money because she wants to follow him. they purchase an old car, fixing it while dreaming of the day they leave behind the godforsaken town. once the car is ready, they load up their few belongings and set out into the great unknown. so much angst, domesticity, & sweetness, pls!

a plot where muse a and muse b have been friends since childhood — here and there, they would have a one night stand, but never really allowed themselves to progress into anything more than just friends. now, as adults who are figuring out the dating scene isn’t as easy as their parents made it seem, muse a and muse b are seeing each other more and more frequently. eventually, muse a starts seeing someone new, and has less and less time for muse b. i’m talking jealousy, tension!!! muse b realizing maybe they’ve had feelings for muse a the whole time, muse a having to make tough decisions — either continue dating this new person or hurt muse b!!! i liiiiive for drama pls

childhood sweethearts (with a twist)

okay but a plot where close childhood friends reunite — except muse a was in love with muse b growing up, and muse b became muse a’s best friend’s high school sweetheart. muse a concealed their feelings for muse b all throughout their friendship, in high school & college, although both muses definitely had feelings & felt sparks for one another long before muse b started dating muse a’s best friend. despite the connection they’d felt, neither wanted to jeopardize any of the friendships between the three, and ultimately, muse b ended up married to muse a’s bff… except now, years later, muse a and muse b reunite at muse a’s best friend’s funeral. imagine the hurt of losing a loved one but having the comfort of yet another loved one?? blurred lines, tension, second-guesses…….

let me take care of you (southern charm)

okay so i’ve been kicking around a ranch hand plot where muse a is looking for help around the ranch they’ve just inherited due to a death in the family, and seeing as they’re just one person with lots of land, and virtually no knowledge on how to take care of it, it’s impossible to go it all on their own… enter muse b. muse b, a man who not only knows how to work the land but can take care of the ranch with ease, finds it impossible to not take care of muse a, while he's at it. just give me texan sunsets and lovers with low static music crooning in the background from some vinyl record please & ty

friends with benefits (with feelings)

a friends with benefits plot where muse a is dead-set, hellbent on not having a relationship and not getting too intimately involved with muse b; muse b has been in love with muse a for years, and muse a knows this, but still can’t bring themselves to get emotionally attached. i need tensionnnn and like, a lil toxicity ykwim??? for the angst omg

will you come find me (after the party?)

so hear me out — a plot where muse a and muse b met at a friend of a friend’s party & instantly hit it off. muse a is immediately infatuated with muse b — they laugh, talk, drink; they even make an incredible beer pong team. at some point during the night, muse a decides to put the moves on muse b. however, after leaving to get them some drinks, muse a comes back to find muse b kissing someone else… and to make it worse? it’s their boyfriend/girlfriend. tbh this plot could have the potential of a shakespearean comedy if we did it right akdjgh ok i'm talking messssssssyyyy

you feel like home (but i’ve got a different address)

okay so i need a tense plot where muse a and muse b are soulmates, beyond the shadow of a doubt — but muse a is married to a nightmare of a spouse. little by little, they spend more time together one on one, but it’s getting increasingly harder for muse b to see muse a with their spouse, especially knowing how that spouse treats muse a. idk this is a rough plot/work in progress plot but i feel like it has potential to go somewhere!!!

someone please give me a mxm plot based off from afar by vance joy. muse a and muse b who have been best friends literally their whole lives, maybe living in a small somewhat conservative town, and muse a has always know that they're definitely not straight and has pretty much been in love with their best friend, muse b, since they could remember. they've always had a very close and maybe even slightly flirty friendship but nothing has ever really happened. muse a's parents can maybe be conservative and close minded and have always sensed that muse a craves more than a friendship with muse b but they've always told them 'that's not the way that friends behave' and have made it evident that they shouldn't ever act on their feelings, which has resulted in muse a loving muse b 'from afar' because aside from their family, the thought of ever ruining their friendship scares him. now imagine one day they're hanging out with friends or something and maybe they're all really drunk and playing dumb drinking games like never have i ever or spin the bottle or even truth or dare and maybe in one of these games they get dared to kiss or something and maybe they're hesitant, especially muse a, but muse b could be like 'you're my best friend it's all good' and kisses muse a but it could turn into the smallest little make out sesh that actually leaves muse a speechless and muse b is eventually pulling away too quick and while muse b laughs it off and maybe muse a attempts to do the same, it rings in the back of muse a's head the entire night, and they decide the next day they would tell muse b how they feel even if it ruins the entire friendship, but what if the next day as muse a is going to tell muse b how they really feel, maybe they walk in on muse b making out with a girl or something and it could be like "hey, this is my girlfriend" or something and muse a is just like "oh okay, cool cool" but it actually kills them on the inside? i want angst, unrequited feelings, drama, denial, tears, coming to terms with your feelings, heartbreak and the usual queer dilemma of the century which is loving someone 'from afar' that you could probably never have. please please just give me this and make it HURT
