i’m going to be discussing another fandom here and that is dangan ronpa: v3 and the character of shuichi saihara and the popular saiouma ship.

it’s bad, not because of ouma, but because of saihara. another ship where people want to make the smaller character the woobie, because ouma was not actually a bad guy. but they want to see him abused and someone always.has to be abused in a popular yaoi ship, so you have pregame saihara or “kagehara” abusing ouma. 

it doesn’t make me like saihara, as a matter of fact i hated him for taking the protagonist spot when we could have had a girl, and now because of the fandom  we have to deal with misogyny and a specific type of protagonist. i never saw anyone saying things that made hajime or naegi seem like mras who talk creepily about women, but i have for both saihara or kagehara. i feel safe calling him a misogynist and an abuser since the content the fandom puts out justifies this. they must be getting it from somewhere.

i think it says a lot that in the saiouma ship the fans like ouma more too. he’s a shitty character, another line of “uwu disaster boys” and i’m really not liking the ableist depictions the fandom runs with when they have to have abuse. they need a boy abusing their woobie, because ouma can’t be good without abuse.
