There’s A Storm Coming
The rain is nearing
I can smell it in the air
Wind picking up speed
Clouds begin to hover
I feel my chest swell
Suddenly I feel hallow
A weak shell
Empty, void of life
One gust of wind
And I topple over
Shattering on impact
1,167 pieces lay naked on the ground
Rain begins to flood over me
Washing each individual piece
Wiping away every nightmare
Drowning every fear
My lungs fill with frigid water
I feel like I can breathe again
I don’t fight it
I lay there limp, still
All 1,167 pieces of me
Eyes wide open
Surrendering to the inevitable
Knowing it will all be okay
