one of my trans friends added me to a discord channel called "egg group chat" and I was starting to get very introspective before I realised they're organising a group buy of eggs from a local farm

If the Senju inherited Yang release and the Uchiha inherited Yin release, then that implies the creation of Konoha village is a combination of those, since Uchiha and Senju created that village together (hopefully I am understand the concept of Yin and Yang correctly).

When Madara talked about "two opposing sides working together" to create "true happiness", I think this therefore alludes to Yin and Yang cooparation?

And it is incredibly interesting, because when Madara and Hashirama first met, as children, it was Madara, the one who inspired Hashirama to come up with the solution.

Madara, representing the Yin, in a way created "form out of nothing" by inspiring Hashirama, who then, with his Yang gave life to said form and formed the village to life.

Tobirama might have tried to manipulate things to make it seem it was all Hashirama's work, but the fact remains that Hashirama and Madara created that village together. Hashirama himself admitted (to Madara) he can't do it without him.

Hashirama alone would have never created the village without Madara, because he would have no form to breathe life into.

The Uchiha were, ultimately, deceived and oppressed by Tobirama the Senju, and that will remain a fact, but the village would have never came to be without the Yin of the Uchiha clan.

Anyway, these are just my ramblings as I keep wondering about the manga.

outdoor cat defenders really are simply some of the most Delusional people on the planet, like you can list fact after fact all with verified sources about how bad it is to let cats outside for both them & the environment around them and people will cover their ears and be like "umm not my frumpkins he knows not to play in traffic & he has magical resistance to coyotes and disease"

Since making my last post about handwashing, I read the comments & tags and learned that many people believe handwashing is only necessary to remove visible dirt from our hands. This surprised me!

Handwashing is a vital component in preventing the spread of infections & disease! : )

Since it's come up again I will once again remind you that it's a good idea to make a habit of washing your hands with soap + warm water whenever you come home because hand sanitizer does not kill some unpleasant and dangerous germs like Norovius (as just one example).

You cannot rely on only washing your hands after you've been around someone visibly ill or touched something that looks dirty. Germs are microscopic and can exist on apparently clean surfaces. People can continue to shed Norovirus for weeks after they were sick, and Norovirus can survive on surfaces for as long as two weeks.

Imagine getting sick from someone a month after they've recovered because you both use the same doorknob! This is only one example of a highly contagious illness spread by germs which cannot be killed by hand sanitizer.

Please practice handwashing when you arrive home, before you prepare meals, before you eat, etc.! We cannot mitigate every risk, nor should we live in fear, but if you have access to soap and water, handwashing is a simple way to dramatically decrease risk of infection!

We live in a world where healthcare is largely out of our hands for many, maddening reasons. This is something you can do to protect yourself and others that is genuinely worthwhile.

This is unrelated to anything else with the silly “Dire Wolf” controversy but them putting these images in all the articles give me the weirdest uncanny valley discomfort. Like it is hard for me to take these photos seriously. Do you know why?

Wolf pups just do not look like that. Because wolves typically have their pups in underground dens, it is an evolutionary advantage for the vulnerable pups to blend in with the dark earth of the den. If they were born white, they’d be sharply contrasted and easier for predators to spot. Even arctic wolves are born dark and gain their typical white coat a little later (though not all arctic wolves are white either).

Fun fact in Game of Thrones they used domestic dogs to play the dire wolf pups; puppy Ghost is cute but he’s clearly no wolf!

Giving birth to pups that are darkly colored is a pretty basic adaptation in a lot of canids that litter underground. Red foxes and arctic foxes are also born a very nondescript shade of dirt. Exceptions exist, but this is just a thing that a lot of wild canines do. Here are various canids (red fox, Ethiopian wolf, maned wolf, and African wild dog) that do this

I don’t know if we have any proof that dire wolves had their pups in dens but it would be kind of weird if they didn’t. So even if the dire wolf had a light coat as an adult they would likely still be born with a darker color to act as camouflage.

So when I keep getting this image

blasted on all my feeds you can understand why my brain has trouble registering it even as a gray wolf pup. It’s just weird. It looks like what chat gpt would spit out if you requested an arctic wolf pup. That thing would stand out like crazy in an underground den. You can make something look like something else all you want but the evolutionary history of a species is too complicated for us to ever faithfully recreate from scratch.
