connor-frayne:
“You an’ your shrimp,” Connor chuckled, reaching up to teasingly prod her cheek before going back to looking at his phone, browsing through the menu he’d brought up. It was probably easiest to just order online and get it delivered, because he really couldn’t be bothered to move. “Yeah, I feel that, darlin’. You could probably eat everythin’ on this menu an’ not gain weight. You’re tiny. Where d’ya put it?” He laughed softly, selecting the stuff he wanted on the menu and adding it to the order. “So shrimp fried rice, crunchy shrimp rolls an’ some dumplings? Anythin’ else?” Connor asked, adding Aaliyah’s stuff to their order too.
“Look, Con,” Aaliyah said with a laugh, “it’s so good. It’s just tasty. And you know I don’t eat other meat. Just seafood.” She nodded, still laughing. She was so glad they were finally out of C.A.R.M.A. Kind of. They weren’t fully out, but they didn’t live on the C.A.R.M.A. campus anymore. “Oh y’know, I’m just so badass, I gotta keep my food intake equal to all the bad guys I put in jail. And that’s all for me. For now. I might order pizza later... We’ll see.”

“I’m a powerful woman Aaliyah, but unfortunately my skills don’t include time travel. I’m afraid my word will have to be enough this time.” Elisabeth hadn’t been pleased with the decision to be placed with a bodyguard, but at least she’d given her most trusted agent the position. “Fine with me, I could use the exercise.” Getting through the increased security (honestly, it was starting to feel like Fort Knox) took a small measure of threatening the agents with insubordination, but eventually she was able to get herself and Aaliyah out of headquarters. “I can handle my Indian food just fine,” she responded, lips turning up in amusement. “No need to worry. Lead the way.”
“What a shame,” Aaliyah said with a soft laugh. As they walked through the streets of Pansaw, there was something nagging Aaliyah about the whole ordeal. She was Elisabeth’s bodyguard, but surely this woman didn’t actually need a meta-guard. She was more than capable, mysterious, and surely had multitudes of defense training. “I know you can, I was just teasing.”

connor-frayne:
Connor just closed his eyes and smiled, enjoying the feeling of Aaliyah’s fingers running through his hair; if he were a cat, he’d most likely be purring. Giving a content sigh and a shrug, the Brit couldn’t quite make up his mind, so he was happy to go with whatever Aaliyah wanted. “Chinese is fine by me. Could definitely do the crispy deep fried chicken in lemon sauce right now…“ he trailed off, thinking about it for a good half a minute. "Fuck it, ‘m’starvin’. We’re doin’ Chinese,” he decided after fantasising about it for a little while, then reached into his pocket to get out his phone. “You’re an excellent pillow by the way, ‘Liyah. Jus’ thought you should know.” He grinned. “D’ya know what ya want, or d’ya want me to pull up a menu for you?”
It was nice knowing that she was living with her best friend. Her and Connor were able to protect each other through thick and thin. Whether the damage was emotional or physical, they were always there for each other. It was going to be good living together. “Oh, I already know what I want. It’d be a bit much for me to say everything on the menu with shrimp... But definitely the shrimp fried rice and those crunchy shrimp rolls. And maybe some dumplings?” She chuckled softly. “I’m just really hungry from moving all our crap up all day, y’know? Honestly, I’d eat anything at this point so I think the sooner we order, the better.”

Snorting loudly at Aaliyah’s comment, Lessa snatched the staff that was thrown her way. “Can’t really call it flattery when we both know you could kick my ass all over this room.” She gripped the staff with both hands, testing its weight and balance. “In the words of the old movies, ‘Do or do not, there is no try’,” Lessa laughed. She shook her head again at Aaliyah. “Well, unless we were in a zoo or an alley, I doubt I’d have the advantage over you even then.” She smirked and stifled a laugh, “Or maybe back in prehistoric times. Bet ya I could have ridden a dinosaur.” Lessa knew Aaliyah was trying to get under her skin, but she shrugged off the comments. Finding a comfortable stance with the staff, she asked, “Am I on defense or offense?”
“I can still be flattered though,” Aaliyah said teasingly. She couldn’t help but laugh at her fellow Rebel, she knew it was mostly a joke. But Lessa also had some really badass street skills. It was going to be extremely interesting to see the contrast between her own skills and Lessa’s, that was for sure. “Now I want to see you riding a dinosaur, that’d be a sight to see.” She made a jab for Lessa with the bo staff, making sure to only hit Lessa’s staff. “Well, babe,” she smirked, “what side do you think you’re on?”

“I prefer formalities,” Hayden answered while she dug through her bag. It didn’t matter if it was here at the rebel base or at CARMA’s headquarters, there were people that deserved respect and she showed that by using their given titles. They’d earned them after all. “Look at this,” she pulled out a file of one of the agents and handed it to Aaliyah, “Agent Slade Darkmoore. I’ve found some interesting information on him. It means that either CARMA does not follow up on their agents or they are covering up his extra curricular activities.”
“Alright, if you’re sure...” Aaliyah said, shifting a bit uncomfortably. She wasn’t that fond of formalities, they made her feel like she had more power than she deserved. Power that she could use to harm people. She took the information from Hayden and slowly flipped through it, wondering how much time Hayden had spent spying on all the assorted C.A.R.M.A. agents. It felt familiar, the work. She recognized how the information from C.A.R.M.A. was set up instantly. And all the info on this ‘Slade’s’ extracurriculars was very helpful as well. “What an edgy name...” She murmured softly. “Do you think there are more agents like this? More agents we can use to start toppling their infrastructure, prove to them that they’re not as strong as they think they are?”

secondcommand-sinclair:
The corner of Elisabeth’s mouth quirked up in amusement as Aaliyah caught herself from using her first name. She would’ve let it slide if the young agent had of anyway, whether it was professional or not; she tended to be a little more lenient with employees she favored. “Would you believe me if I told you the food used to be better?” The commander did chuckle then before pushing off from where she’d been leaning against the doorway, beckoning for Aaliyah to follow.
“I have a car waiting for us, or we can walk, depending on what you have a taste for.” Someone would surely complain about her trying to get herself and Aaliyah in trouble by being out and about unaccompanied by no other agents, but Wolfhurst was typically safe enough given its higher class of patrons, and should anything happen they could handle themselves just fine.
"I think you’d have to take me back in time to really convince me of that,” Aaliyah said with a laugh as she followed the second-in-command lead the way out of the building. She was enjoying the fact that she was able to get closer to Ellie, she definitely preferred her to Sal or Monica. “Well, honestly, I prefer walking around, especially since some of the best food places are real close to headquarters. My favorite Indian place is just a few blocks away. Unless you can’t handle your spice, Commander.”

monica-theambassador:
Monica glanced her as if she had said the absolute worst thing there was. Maybe she had. After all, the Rebel Army was not an organisation she wanted to be associated with at all. But Aaliyah was not to be blamed for that. “I’m curious, Ms. Rowell, what is your take on the whole… dream world.” They both had seen the other side better than anyone had, it was definitely worth it to explore that. “How accurate would you say it was? As in, how things were run, the location, all that.”
Aaliyah could feel the tension in the office already, anyone with a brain could feel it from outside the room. She didn’t need to straighten out her skirt again but she did so anyway, merely out of nerves if anything else. “I think it was quite the uh--” She coughed awkwardly, unsure how to finish that sentence. She knew it held some ground in reality, there was no way it didn’t. In the dream she had still been a meta, she still loved the cosmos, she still dressed as fashionably as ever... So that meant there was some truth to it all. “It was quite an adventure, though, I’m not sure what about it was rooted in truth and what was rooted in falsehoods.”

monica-theambassador:
It was nothing but a dream, that was what Monica had to keep telling herself. Her son was still dead. Gone. But, she was back in the real business, instead of doing something as tedious and meaningless as fashion. That was a slight silver-living that faded compared to the loss of her baby. The only thing she was still worried about was Sal. In their shared dream, they had been married and he knew about her ability. Chances were, he knew and would use it against her to ruin her career and get her out of the CARMA business, into which she finally managed to dig her claws even deeper. Her strategies were in the making, but it all dependent on Sal’s next actions. Where even was he?
Someone interrupted her critical thought process. “What?” She barked. “Can’t you see I’m busy?” Monica snapped again. It was clear that panic was getting to her, she was becoming unsettled in her ways and she needed time to recollect her mind. She sighed and tried to act as she normally would. “Close the door.” She eventually ordered and gestured to the chair in front of her. “You’re going to help me with something.”
The dream had come and gone and Aaliyah felt weirder than ever. She was a Rebel Nova in the dream. And it was making her question things. You know who else was a Rebel Nova though? Monica. One of her fucking bosses. How fucked up was that? And she had powers. It had Aaliyah’s mind racing. Was Monica a Rebel in this reality? (The only reality that really mattered as far as Aaliyah was concerned). But the curiosity still ate at her...
Aaliyah had knocked on Monica’s door, wondering how this interaction would go down when she was snapped at. “Well, definitely different than you treatment from when we were colleagues,” she said as she straightened out her skirt after she had sat down. Aaliyah knew she shouldn’t be pushing her luck like this, but she didn’t like how she was feeling after that whole weird dream situation. She felt lost from herself. “What do you need though, Ms. Sloan?”

“Mm, I know, I jus’ ain’t really a people person sometimes. Workin’ out in the privacy of my own home would be amazin’,” he said with a grin before joining her on the couch, sighing as he moved to make himself comfortable, which mostly meant he had his head on Aaliyah’s lap and the rest of him settled into the comfy couch. “I’m feelin’ pizza. Or Chinese. We can go shoppin’ tomorrow when we can actually be arsed,” he said, looking up at her. One thing Connor was looking forward to the most about living in his own space was being able to have Kara over whenever he wanted. He just hoped that Aaliyah and Kara would actually get along.
“I know you’re not, being a people person is overrated to an extent anyway,” Aaliyah chuckled softly. “And I guess it’d be fair to have some privacy considering most of our training and working out is done at C.A.R.M.A. anyway...” She let her hand fall down and run her fingers through his hair. They were terribly domestic for two people who were extremely and exclusively platonic with each other. Which was actually a nice thing, Aaliyah liked that they could be close like that but have it not involve any anxious, romance entangled feelings. “Hmm... I think Chinese is the kind of ‘move in day’ food. Dunno why. Or maybe I just want shrimp rolls... What d’ya want, bub?”

So far, everything that Hayden had been able to smuggle out of CARMA had been minor. It was all information that needed to be brought into the light, but none of it would bring the agency down on it’s own. It didn’t take long for her to realize that there really was no smoking gun. No one thing that would dissolve the agency and all of it’s subsidiaries over night. It had to be a mountain of negative information and she would move it to the rebels stone by stone if she had to. The only deal she had tried to make was, when it did fall, that her sister was spared. Even if she went down with the ship, her sister had to be left out of it. The most recent thing she had come across was fairly significant, however. She was practically bouncing as she went searching the base for one of the novas, finally finding Aaliyah. “Nova Rowell, do you have a moment? I think you might want to see what I’ve found as soon as possible.”
@lunaraaliyah
Aaliyah had been keeping her attention high and her wits about her lately, everything had felt so... Weird and off. Especially when she was getting the feeling she wasn’t leading the life she was meant to lead. Or maybe her it was just her general paranoia around her own existence (as well as the Rebels). She was never too sure about anything anymore. She was making her way back to her room after a particularly rigorous session with Lessa, they had been training a lot more lately which was exciting. She was seeing first hand Lessa’s development as a fighter. But before she could get to the sweet, safe embrace of her room, she had run into Hayden. “Oh-- Hayden, you know you can call me ‘Aaliyah’ right? You’re older than me and ‘Nova Rowell’ is just so formal anyway...” She chuckled lightly, “what’s up though, star?”

Lessa walked to the center of the room and smiled at Aaliyah. Hearing her comment on holding back, Lessa snorted. “As if I would hold back! You’d kick my ass even worse!” She laughed before taking a ready stance, waiting on Aaliyah to join her. “Trust me, I am more than ready to clean up my style.”
She was excited to be learning from Aaliyah, the woman’s precision in fighting was flawless. Lessa had watched her drop men twice her size in mere seconds, using their own force against them. She didn’t discount the things she had learned on the streets, they had helped her survive in her younger days. Dirty tricks would only get her so far though, especially against CARMA agents. She grinned at Aaliyah again. “Here’s hoping I can gain at least half of your skill!”
“Well, color me flattered, Lessa,” Aaliyah said with a soft chuckle as she stretched her arms out just one more time. For good measure. “And I’m glad you’re ready to get started, I love seeing initiative like this. It definitely earns brownie points with myself, Fel, and Monica.” She let herself loosen up before grabbing her bo staff and tossing one to Lessa. “You think you can try fighting with one of these things? Or should we go strictly powers and strictly fists? Y’know, let you have a little of an advantage.” She was teasing of course, she wanted to get the other riled up, Aaliyah had learned people were almost always more genuine in their fighting when they felt on edge.
