Finn glanced over his shoulder as the others slipped into their tents and hurried off after his old friend, catching him around the side of the building. “Jakkon. We need to talk.”

The Satyr raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms. “Well? What is it you have to talk to me about? Alone, late in the night, oh great and powerful feathers?”

“You know what.”

“Do I?” He countered, raising an eyebrow challengingly. 

“You have a problem, Jakkon.”

He froze, as if he hadn’t expected that. But as shots fired in his head, he narrowed his eyes, recalibrating his strategy. “And? Tell me how what I do with my time is any of your business?”

Finn’s hand shot out to grab the Satyr’s wrist as he noticed him backing away. “Because it’s hurting you, and because we need you, it’s hurting us, as a team.”

“So? I’m here to make sure Rose is safe, and she’s away from that gods-be-damned city! I don’t give a flying fuck about any of you! Why should I listen to you? Especially after what you did?”

“Because you need to tell them. We’re a team, Jakkon. And no matter if you like it or not, you’re one of us. They’re all just as important as you, you don’t get to act like you’re better than them!”

Jakkon wrenched his hand out of Finn’s grip, eyes finding Finn’s as his scowl turned into a death glare. “I’ve done no such thing! I look out for myself and Rose, and since when have I given you any trouble other than an argument or two?”

“Does she know?”

Jakkon’s mouth snapped shut in an instant.

Finn hesitated, considering this new information before he frowned. “If you don’t tell them, I will.”

The Satyr’s glare darkened, panic flitting through his eyes before he blurted, “Tell Petals about my drinking, and Morena will know about your curse!”

This time Finn was the one who froze. “H-how do you know that?”

Jakkon straightened, wiping the fear from his face in an instant as he feigned confidence. “You’re not as discreet as you think, Feathers.”
