Things Sento has gone through in the last two episodes alone:

Got poisoned and was in literal constant suffering for three days straight

Most likely barely slept because he was in too much pain, and was instead stuck in a sort of half-awake, half-asleep limbo

Died

Got revived about ten seconds later only to find out that his best friend got possessed by the main villain

Fought said friend while being completely exhausted and got thoroughly pummeled

Immediately went for a second round after sleeping for maybe two hours, probably less

Nearly had his brain overloaded by the Hazard Trigger again while still being in no shape to fight

Lost the second round just as badly as the first

Failed his mission to keep the bottles out of Evolt’s hands and was forced to watch as the Skywall Palace, which he knows is capable of destroying an entire planet’s civilization, is completed

Case in point: WHEN WILL SENTO GET A BREAK

To the first kpop group I ever liked, today the really depressing news of SHINee Jonghyun's death occured. It was by suicide. It was shocking, but at the same time the signs may always have been there. It felt as though he was always repressing his feelings, and to me it was hard to find moments where he was genuinely happy. There may be many other things that eventually pushed him to the edge by stress and depressing thoughts.

But it made me think so much more. Because the signs are not there just for jonghyun, I see forced smiles and some of those moments in so many kpop idols and always tried to ignore the reason behind it, always thinking that it will end and eventually they will go back to when they are truly happy again (like the smiles they gave during their debut days). But for some, the scar is too deep for them to go back to who they were.

Sometime we wish we could have known earlier, gave encouragements, do something to make them happy. But who's to say the signs were not there? I genuinely wish that the kpop industry will be more forgiving towards idols, and fans be more forgiving towards your idol because at the end of the day, all of them have worked really hard.

To my current groups and idols that I genuinely love, you have done well and I really really appreciated your efforts for becoming the best role mode in our eyes.

To Jonghyun, you have worked hard, as a singer and composer you have became one of the best in kpop. Our thoughts will be with you, always, so rest in peace.

I totally agree! Ex-aid is like one of the best kamen rider series and gobusters is probably the most underrated Sentai that had great plots and great actors!

Are there any Sentai or Rider series that, upon initial information, you had low expectations for, yet actually watching it defied those expectations and the show turned out better than anticipated?

Oh yes!  In fact I can point to a currently airing show as a perfect example!  

When I first saw the designs for Kamen Rider Ex-Aid and learned the plot revolved around the weird mix of Video Games and Medical Drama, I was totally turned off.  The suit designs especially had me really not looking forward to the series at all.

However, the show proved to be very well-written with intriguing and likable characters, a fascinating plot and wonderful twists and turns that have quickly made it one of my favorites of recent years.  Heck, one of the things that initially turned me off the hardest was the Gamer Driver belt itself.

My initial impression was something along the lines of, ‘That looks like something designed by Nickelodeon in the early 1990s’.  However, it became the first Kamen Rider henshin belt I ever bought after falling in love with the series.

For years, I have had a policy of giving every new series at least 10 episodes to impress me.  For a year-long (or nearly year long) series like Kamen Rider or Super Sentai entries, it sometimes takes a while for the show to really get started after introducing the characters and plot to the viewer. 

Another good example of this from Super Sentai would be Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.  The first looks we got at the costumes and characters were so different with the leather-like outfits as opposed to the spandex that had become standard and going back to a three person team.

It didn’t help that it was the next series after Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, a total favorite of mine which was always going to be a hard act to follow. However, thanks to a mix of an intriguing plot, fun characters and a fantastic villain (Enter is the man) I found myself going along for the ride and getting more and more invested in the adventures of these Enetron-defending heroes and their foes.

Those are just a couple of recent examples.

Thanks for the question and I urge everyone to never judge a show by first impressions, give them all 5-10 episodes to get into the meat of the plot and you may find a new favorite in something that initially turned you off.
