Luminaire LED features single-frequency Amber and single-frequency Red LEDs in many of our Vandal Resistant and High Security Confinement Luminaires.
The Amber LEDs are measured at 593nm, a wavelength of light that will not disrupt the circadian rhythms of individuals while they are sleeping. They are commonly requested as nightlights in areas of confinement and in senior living facilities, and are used in turtle-friendly and wildlife-friendly spaces.
The Red LEDs are measured at 621nm, a wavelength that will not disrupt one’s night vision. They are commonly found on military bases, in senior living facilities, firehouses, and in vivarium-friendly environments.
Luminaire LED can provide single-frequency Amber and Red LEDs as nightlights on independent circuits, or we can populate entire LED boards using these LEDs.

Endeavor Update
The Endeavor stairwell luminaire continues to gain momentum and has become popular with both specifiers and distributors due to its performance, rich array of features and attractive price. Most important is when wall mounted, the 50 watt unit will help your specifier to meet both Life Safety Code and local energy codes such as IECC or ASHRAE 90.1.
If you have not been out with Tommy or I with this exciting new product contact us to set up time. If you have, continue to show it and be sure the sales people from your local supply houses are aware of The Endeavor.
Compact Fluorescent Lamps Effective immediately we are discontinuing all CFL products. We bid a fond (maybe not so fond) farewell to all PL-S, PL-C and PL-T lamped fixtures. We will no longer accept orders for compact fluorescent products. Contact us if you require assistance in locating equal lumen packages in LED. CFL spec sheets will be removed from the web site this month.
New Downloads Installation sheets are now available for download from our website. They can be found in the “Downloads” section on our home page. IES and Revit files are being update

New Stairwell Luminaire
Luminaire LED proudly introduces our second product in the family of stairwell luminaires, the Endeavor or ESF. Drawing on our experience with the TSL, the Endeavor gives you a more budget friendly product with a host of additional options.
The Endeavor is a vandal resistant, DLC listed, dedicated stairwell fixture designed to meet the stringent code requirements for means of egress stairwells. Designed for wall mounting, at 50 watts under normal power it will deliver the lumens required to achieve the 10 fc minimum required by Life Safety 101 (Section: 7.8.1.3) as well as meeting codes for power reduction when the stairwell is unoccupied. Unoccupied low levels of 10%, 20%, 30% or 50% are field adjustable. Integral battery back up is also available.
The Endeavor uses an integral High Frequency Motion Detector, capable of sensing motion from behind the lens. This feature allows us to offer the ESF as an optional WET location product.
Additional Functions:
Group control as well as multiple sensors per group control is easily accomplished.
Adjustable detection area control.
Standard time-out function as well as a Stand-by Corridor Function, which can turn the fixture off after a second preset time.
Preset Daylight Function that can easily be adjusted or disabled in the field.
Programmable Ambient Daylight Threshold allows the luminaire to “learn” what daylight levels will not trigger the fixture to full on.

Discontinued
December 2, 2016
HID - CFL - DLC
Discontinued – HID
Effective January 3, 2017, Luminaire LED will no longer produce any HID products. At that time all HID spec sheets and links to spec sheets, IES files, and Revit files will be removed from our web site. In January you will receive an updated price book with all HID pages removed.
Discontinued – 42-PLT and 57-PLT Products
Effective immediately we are discontinuing all 42-watt and 57-watt PLT products. The expense and lack of efficiency makes LED not only the better choice, but also a less expensive solution. New, redesigned spec sheets are currently being developed with complete removal of this lamp combination to be uploaded to our website by January. For the immediate future we will continue to produce products with 13, 18 and 26-watt PLC lamps as well as 32 watt PLT lamps.
DLC Listed Products
We now have 43 catalog items that are DLC listed with more on the way. The Stair Lighter (TSL), Anyx (ARV13) and Vertex (CLF) products are now all DLC listed. The Swoop (SWP) 610 and 1212 are in the process of being listed with additional products listed early next year. Please check the DLC Qualified Products List at www.designlights.org/QPL for listed configuration details.

Product Updates
June 23, 2016
From a tequila bar somewhere in North America
Swoop 1212 LED
We now have the ability to produce the Swoop 1212 (SWP1212) in both 15 watt and 25 watt with an integral battery and no CAB back box. This reduces the depth of the fixture from 8.3” to 5.05”. Spec sheets online have been updated.
The SWP1212HO-40W also no longer requires a CAB back box. The HO spec sheet is no longer online and a 40-watt option has been added to the standard SWP1212 spec sheet. Until we issue an updated price sheet continue to use the 40-watt HO pricing. The CAB will not be provided unless requested and priced accordingly.
Amber LEDs We receive numerous requests for amber LEDs in our products. The amber LEDs we use are a true amber operating at a peak frequency of 593nm. This is within the frequency range accepted by turtle friendly locations, wildlife friendly requirements and observatory restrictions. We have encountered other uses for the amber LEDs including healthcare and nursing homes. These amber LEDs are also the night-light options in our confinement products since they do not disrupt circadian sleep cycles. Recently we had an engineer who chose to use all amber LED fixtures in areas that were prone to graffiti. The lack of color rendering tends to discourage graffiti artists.
We have created a sub-menu on our web site home page linking you to fixtures available all amber or a mix of white and amber. We have many other options for adding amber LEDs.
Contact the factory for your particular requirements. Sincerely, Eddie Chernoff

TSL Driver Options
May 5, 2016
The Stair Lighter, unlike many of our competitors, offers 4 different driver control options: M7, SD, O/F & 2B. Because the new codes are requiring a minimum 50% power reduction within 30 minutes of a stairwell becoming unoccupied, many specifiers immediately choose the SD: Step dimming option. This may not be the best choice and is certainly not the least expensive choice.
M7 - This is by far the least expensive with the most bang for the buck. The sensor we use is a Wattstopper FS-505, which is a low voltage sensor that is attached to a 0-10V power pack. We run the signal from this power pack through proprietary circuitry to give you field adjustable low-end settings of 10%, 20%, 35% or 50% power input and lumen output. Movement always triggers the sensor to full lumen output. No movement reduces power input and lumen output to one of these preset levels. These settings are field adjustable.
SD – All LED boards dimmed to 50% output. This gives you only a 50% low end and is more expensive than the M7 option since we have to add our SD2 step dim module to our existing dimming driver.
O/F – All lamps sensored on and off. This is not for use in stairwells unless local codes allow them to be dark when not occupied. The sensor is configured to turn the entire fixture off when no movement is sensed.
2B - Like the spec sheet states this turns off ½ the fixture when there is no movement. This is a more expensive option than the M7 option because it requires a second driver with the sensor wired to one of the two. No movement turns off one of the drivers. There is an added cost for the second driver. In addition there is one board running at full output and a second board being turned off and on. The constant-on row will reach its L70 end of life a long time before the sensored row will.
Sincerely, Eddie Chernoff

Reduced Fixture Footprint
December 11, 2015 From the airport cocktail lounge of Eddie Chernoff We were very excited with the introduction of our high security confinement LED product line, but we’ve noticed a common trend with the specifier. That trend is to think in four foot increments. This is not unusual since all of us thought in terms of 2x4 ceilings, four-foot lamps, etc. Fixture design had to adapt to existing sources. One of our goals when designing the confinement line was to offer smaller fixtures with the comparable delivered lumens of larger traditional fluorescent confinement fixtures. A confinement fixture, whether in a cell, dayroom or mental health facility is a target for the people living there. The smaller the fixture, the smaller the target. Another consideration is cost. In most LED products the majority of the cost resides in the internal components. In confinement products, especially when using heavier gauge materials, the majority of the cost resides in the shell of the fixture. Smaller fixtures translate to reduced costs both in materials and installation.
Watts vs. Lumens Another trend we have encountered is people sometimes will use watts as the criteria instead of delivered lumens when crossing from another manufacturer. We have some of the highest efficacies compared to our competitors so it is important to use delivered lumens as your crossover criteria. Example: VPF84-50w - 52 watts, 5,215 delivered lumens, 100.5 lumens/watt Brand K - 50 watts, 4,938 delivered lumens, 99 lumens/watt Brand F - 50 watts, 3,625 delivered lumens, 72.5 lumens/watt Brand N - 52 watts, 3,936 delivered lumens, 75 lumens/watt These can all be considered 50 watt fixtures, but two would not be considered equal in delivered lumens. Watch your crosses.
Sincerely, Eddie Chernoff
