Artist, musician, writer, industrial designer, engineer and insuffrable pit of despair and pain. ALWAYS REMEMBER: Reblogging is the best way to show respect for an artist. Do never repost.
I think you might find the book All Tomorrows quite interesting, though there's some quite sizeable cosmic horror in it, so beware.
clears my throat. fantasy setting where all the standard fantasy races are present (elf, dwarf, human, etc), where all marriages are arranged by the gods, and every year the gods choose champions from amongst the races for a kind of beauty pageant/sporting competition
and over time it becomes apparent that 1. this is our world but in the future and 2. the "gods" are aliens who have bred ur standard humans into different appearances over thousands of years and are doing dog shows with them
also presumably there's magic of the "sufficiently advanced science" sort
you guys usamericans have dinner at like 6-7 pm and the older they get the earlier they wanna eat their dinner. ive heard oral tales of dinners as early as 3 pm. ive been in this barbarian land for 10 years so ive adapted to their savage culture and simply go along with the primitive ritual of early dinner when required to so they accept me as one of their tribe, but i forget the civilized latinoamerica doesn't know about this exotic nonsense custom
Sometimes you just make a character so that they appear in the background of a scene. Sometimes you make the drawing to visualize an aesthetic idea and as you keep drawing the character slowly reveals their personality. Sometimes you just need someone to appear in a drawing and any other OC doesn't cut it so you just make up a figure on the spot for that scene that fits and then never use it again.
i've never understood how you can just make an oc with no story attached. this seems to be a visual artist thing, where maybe it's fun to draw a cool design in the void over and over. but i am permanently stuck in writer mode, so to me a character is inseparable from a character arc. with no story, no internal tension that gets set up and resolved, no character moments, there is no character. they have to be doing something
i really wish platonic relationships were more important. i’m tired of losing friendships because i’m less important than their significant other. i hate that i’m automatically not as close to my friends because i’m not the person they’re dating/sleeping with. and i hate how whenever i complain about it the response is “you’ll find someone too someday!” like no I shouldn’t have to “find someone” to feel loved and important, maybe we should stop promoting investing all your time and effort and physical and emotional intimacy into one romantic/sexual partner idk
Chicago should host another World's Fair in 2033, No world's fair have happened in the US since 1984 and I think its time to try one again, and there is no better time than on the anniversary of the 2nd World's Fair Chicago Hosted, The Century of Progress
