You romanticize Azriel willing to die for Elain
I romanticize Azriel wanting to live for Gwyn
We're not the same.

One argument I see a lot is "Gwyn isn't connected to the overarching plot, so how will she have the next book? she isn't the third sister"
But these are the same people who say she is under the influence of Koschei, that her boss Merrill secretly works for Koschei, and she is unknowingly or knowingly doing work for Koschei.
And her "Light singer" powers have something to do with Koschei basically
And Koschei as of now is one of the overarching plots of the story,
So, like is connected or not? They can't be possible together.

Elriels: Mating bonds take away choice and we want Elain to choose!
Also Elriels: ELUCIEN MATING BOND IS FAKE AND ELREL ARE TRUE MATES
Elriels: Gwyn is just a side character. She won’t have a whole book
Also Elriels: Vassa will get a book!
Elriels: Elucien mating bond is sus. It snapped in place and immediately but it always needs time to snap
Also Elriels: Gwynriel aren’t mates because they’ve known each other for two years and the bond hasn’t snapped yet
Elriels: Gwyn is evil and lied about her SA
Also Elriels: Gwyn and Az can’t be together because she is an SA victim and he’s freaky
Elriels: Lucien forces himself on Elain!
Also Elriels: Lucien avoids her! He doesn’t want her!
Elriels: Gwyns story ended with ACOSF. She won’t play a major role in future books
Also Elriel: Gwyn is in the Bonus Chapter because of her lightsinger powers that we apparently won’t explore because she isn’t important anymore
Elriels: You can’t use the BC to support your ship. It will be confusing for readers that haven’t seen the BC.
Also Elriels: Elriel will be forbidden romance because of what happened in the BC

Canon: "Elain in black was ridiculous."
Antis: That means nothing! Since when is Cassian a fashion icon? This doesn't mean Elain doesn't belong in the Night Court! Elain declared she's a part of it! Cassian is clearly biased because he loves Nesta—
Canon: "Cassian had never once in the 2 years he'd known her found Elain to be plain, but wearing black, no matter how much she claimed to be a part of the Court...it sucked the life out of her."
Antis: ....Okay, forget Cassian. Elain was dressed down and made to look dull deliberately so as to not take away the attention from Nesta—
So you agree? You agree that Night Court Black makes Elain look dull?

This is how ACOMAF went in my dreams
Feyre: Fuck off Lucien, I sent Tamlin a letter explaining I left him of my own choice and I’m fine in the Night Court!!
Lucien: WELL FORGIVE ME FOR THINKING THE LETTER WAS FAKE CONSIDERING I NEARLY DIED LIKE A MONTH AGO BECAUSE YOU CAN’T READ! OH BUT NO I SHOULD JUST ASSUME RHYSAND HAS BEEN TEACHING YOU AND NOW YOU’RE EMILY FUCKING DICKINSON WITH THE CORRESPONDENCE OVER HERE YEAH SURE THAT IS REASONABLE!!! I WILL JUST BE A VILAIN FOREVER NOW HAVE A NICE LIFE!!

I’m sorry but I do not believe anyone who says they love Lucien and at the same time ship him with Vassa. Why would you ship him with a human he will outlive by centuries? Sjm has made it clear that the mating bond is rare and cherished among fae. And Lucien clearly longs for a relationship with Elain. If you love Lucien so much why don’t you want him to have that epic, fated love? 🤨

Can we please take a moment to appreciate just how tragic a character Lucien is? And acknowledge how much he deserves his own happy ending? 🥺🥺
Raised in a household where he is hated by all of his brothers and his father.
Forced to watch as his father executes the female he loves and planned to marry. His own brothers restrain him. When he flees, three of them follow him and he’s forced to kill one of his own brothers, while Tamlin kills the other.
He’s attacked by Amarantha after insulting her. She carves out his eye and sends him back to the Spring Court. The injuries are so gruesome they made Tamlin vomit.
Under the mountain he refuses to give up Feyre’s name and Rhysand basically mind tortures him.
He helps Feyre in the first task and his punishment is to be whipped by Tamlin (his best friend). Amarantha slows his healing powers so he can’t even move for days.
During the second trial, Amarantha chains Lucien to the floor and he almost dies again, all while his brothers watch and laugh.
When Tamlin refuses to perform the rite on Calanmai, Lucien goes in his place, despite his hatred for Ianthe. This is borderline SA in my opinion.
He finds out he has a mate only to lose her instantly. Thinks she's being tormented in the NC.
He is used as a pawn in Feyre’s schemes to destroy the Spring Court. This eventually results in him not being able to return to Spring because people think he helped hurt Feyre or was complicit.
Ianthe ties him to a tree and tries to assault him.
Once again his brothers attempt to kill him as he and Feyre try to get to the Night Court.
He is constantly rejected by Elain, probably thinks he will never be loved by her.
At one point Lucien comes back from the Spring Court with a black eye. He is now being physically abused by his former best friend.
After Rhysand taunts Tamlin, Tamlin has all of Lucien’s belongings dumped on the Spring Court border, so now he can’t return there either. He has no home.
HAS MY MAN NOT SUFFERED ENOUGH? 😭😭😭

I love how Jude kissed Cardan the first time with the intention of humiliating him. this guy pushed her into a lake, kicked dirt in her food, did little to nothing when she was high on faerie fruit, and now he reveals it was cuz he has a crush on her and hates himself for it. And her knee-jerk response is to shame him by making out with him so he can feel how badly he wants her and how embarrassed he should be by it. It’s almost too girlboss to wrap my head around. And then she accidentally enjoys kissing him so whoopsie

You know what? Gwynriels have had their Gwyn is important talk. So I’m gonna have my LUCIEN is important talk.
Idk why everyone keeps acting like Lucien is NOT important. He has been around since book 1. Take him out and EVERYTHING changes. It was anger on Lucien’s behalf that caused Tamlin to reject Amarantha so harshly, prompting the curse. It’s Lucien’s tragic backstory that is explained in book 1. It was Lucien who told Feyre how to catch the Suriel. Lucien who gifted Feyre her first real weapon. Lucien who played spymaster to gain intel on Amarantha. Lucien who saved Feyre on Calanmai night. Lucien who protected Feyre under the mountain. RhYsAnD yeah well he didn’t do shit for her without forcing her into a bargain and SAing her, did he? Lucien healed her without obligation, then saved her life in the first task by calling out, TO YOUR LEFT! and took a whipping for it.
In ACOMAF? Less screentime. But still. It was Lucien who came for Feyre in the Night Court. He didn’t know Rhysand wasn’t hurting Feyre; he thought she was under his thrall. He risked his life and came for her. It was Lucien who vouched for Feyre against Tamlin and got punished for it. Lucien who fulfilled the Calanmai rite. Lucien who broke the spell of Hybern to get to Elain.
ACOWAR? It was Lucien who tracked down the Bogge with Feyre. Lucien who killed the Hybern twins with Feyre. Lucien with whom Feyre traveled with across court after court. Lucien who allowed Nuan to create the faebane antidote. Lucien who brought back Papa Archeron and the human army.
In ACOSF? It is STILL Lucien keeping things together. He is the liaison to Spring, emissary of Night, and friend of (essentially) the human king and queen. It is Lucien who dominated Cassian in one word. And it is LUCIEN’S brother Eris who is reigning in Beron for now. And ERIS wants to repair his relationship with Lucien. Both Vanserras are keeping Prythian together at this point.
And it will be Lucien who will need to broker peace between Spring, Autumn, the human lands, and Vallahan (where Mor FAILED). Lucien who will be destroying Koschei to save his friend Vassa. Lucien and Eris who will be killing Beron. THAT IS ENTIRELY LUCIEN’S PLOT. It just pisses me off that Elriels and even Gwynriels moon over Az and try to shove Lucien to the side. Because make no mistake, Lucien IS important, and not just because he’s a future High Lord. No, it’s because he is KEEPING PRYTHIAN FROM ESCALATING INTO ANOTHER WAR!! Lucien is arguably the most important character in this series.

So can we just agree that both ships are insufferable? Like yes, everybody can interpret something different. It does not make people who do not agree with you illiterate. Like that is SO disrespectful. Also, please stop shoving your opinions down someone’s throat. If they don’t agree with you, stop forcing them😭 Just because someone does not interpret the same thing as you, does not automatically mean they are out to get the other LI. And stop commenting on the opposite ships fanart and giving your two cents in. Nobody. Gives. A. Shit.
Besides that have a good day and don’t forget to read:)
#it’s just a ship#IT’S BOTH SIDES#not elucien tho y’all stay safe#acowar#acosf#you know damn well who i am talking about

I’m curious how sjm would handle elucien not being the endgame because unless she goes against everything she established about the mating bond, it just won’t make sense. amren said that the bond can’t be broken by anything. not even magic can severe or trick it, and that’s why feysand remained mated even after the acomaf climax. it’s constantly highlighted throughout the entire series how every other relationship pales in comparison to what mates have, and this is what makes the main couples special. it’s also physically impossible for the mated male to be attracted to anyone beside their mate. didn’t cassian literally go celibate for two years and the bond hasn’t even snapped for him yet? it was always feyre for rhysand, nesta for cassian, even when they both didn’t want anything to do with them.
