Okay, I've seen several people now claim they didn't like Davrin at first because he's "too mean to Assan" at the start, and I've just gotta ask..... Is that the impression he gave off to most people??? Do I just have rose colored glasses because he's my canon Rook's love interest????

Because I never got the impression that he was genuinely MEAN. He always just gave off 'exasperated parent who doesn't know how to handle their excited kid' vibes to me. Even near the beginning of his arc the worst I can think of is when he talks to you about wanting Assan to learn by doing so he can protect himself. And I don't even think that's coming from a place of being "too mean"
