De Kunst van de Muzikale Spagaat: Techno ontmoet Kroeg, een Liefdesverhaal

Hey allemaal, welkom bij een nieuw artikel waarin ik graag deel hoe ik een interessante uitdaging ben aangegaan. Techno is mijn roots; dat is waar ik mee ben begonnen en wat ik het liefste draai. Maar als DJ in een kroeg voor zo’n 300 man, merk je dat je ook rekening moet houden met een breder publiek. Hoe doe je dat zonder jezelf te verliezen in standaard kroegmuziek?

Mijn Vertrekpunt: Trouw aan Techno

Techno heeft altijd iets speciaals voor me betekend. De diepe beats, het ritme dat een eigen verhaal vertelt. Dat wilde ik behouden, ook in een kroegsetting. Maar ik begrijp ook dat niet iedereen daar altijd voor in de stemming is.

De Balans Vinden: Geen Verkooppraatjes

Ik had een keuze kunnen maken om top 40-hits of Nederlandstalige muziek te draaien, maar dat zou niet echt voelen. Dus ging ik op zoek naar iets anders. Na dagen van muziek luisteren en uitzoeken, kwam ik op nummers zoals ‘Freestyler’, ‘The Logical Song’ van Scooter en ‘Don’t Go’ van Yazoo. Stuk voor stuk nummers die mijn persoonlijke muzikale smaak raken, maar ook breed genoeg zijn om een kroegpubliek tevreden te stellen.

De Uitvoering: Voorbereiden en Aanpassen

Voorbereiding is cruciaal. Vijf dagen in de week ben ik bezig met muziek zoeken, beluisteren en sorteren. Ik probeer mijn setlists zo op te bouwen dat ze een mix zijn van wat ik zelf wil draaien en wat ik denk dat de kroeggangers willen horen. De eerste keer dat ik dit uitprobeerde was ik benieuwd naar de reactie, en gelukkig was die positief.

Constant Leren: Altijd Opletten

Dit is een doorlopend proces. Elke week voeg ik nieuwe nummers toe aan mijn setlist en let ik op hoe het publiek reageert. Dit helpt me niet alleen als DJ maar geeft me ook meer inzicht in de brede muzieksmaak die er is.
