Hearing him ask the question as to why she was here, the answer was simple. She had come to the event to get away from her problems, but she had really come here to support Remington. After all, aside from Frankie & Michael, Remington was the only other ranger she knew here in Elisabeth. Things being rocky between them however,. she truly wasn't sure why she was here. "I'm um., I'm here supporting some friends. I usually skip out on these things, or try to steal the alcohol and then go home, but not tonight." Lucy said as she folded her arms across her chest. Taking a deep breath, the shenanigans she and Rem had caused at the last couple of events, it was surprising that they were never caught. "Oh, so it was a women who you threw liquor on?' She questioned, smiling wide and now more curious for this story "What did she do to you?" Lucy probably should just drop it, but this was the most interesting thing she has heard all night. Taking a sip of her alcohol now, the women held onto her cup and then finally sat down on the stool. "Let's hope I'm not the one to cause drama, but with the shit I've been going through lately, I can't promise anything." Lucy scrunched her nose, and then let her hands fall after she placed the drink on the table. Watching the lights go out, the women looked up and then rolled her eyes "Well this is interesting." It was as if someone heard him and did it on q.

Lucy had a few friends who lived in Fremont, so the women was well aware of the power outages. However, the one friend who she visited the most there always a had a generator and always had everything prepared when something like this happens. So she wasn't worried about him as much, she was always worried about him but knew that he'd be okay for now. However, Marley wasn't okay and the blonde had invited the women over for as long as she needed. Living in Port Elisabeth had it's perks, and the women was very grateful for the part of town she choose to live in when first moving here.
Sitting on her couch in her living room, the women had chose sweatpants and a sweatshirt for the day and she didn't care. It was freezing outside, and Lucy was used to harsh winters but this was a bit worse than the Windy city. Eating some popcorn the blonde had made, she put on Netflix and clicked New Girl. "No need to thank me Mar, you're allowed to stay here however long you'd like. Having no power can be shitty, so I'm glad I'm able to help. You into New Girl? I'm restarting in for the thousandth time if you'd like to watch."
The water had been turned up so hot that it’d left Marley a pleasing tinge of pink. Not knowing when she’d get the luxury of more than an ice cold shower, she’d taken her time, letting the warmth melt away the chill she felt had permanently imbedded in her skin the last few days. She was no stranger to electricity outages, though the ones of her childhood had been inflicted at the negligent hand’s of her mother as opposed to the weather. She didn’t consider the way that she grew up to be lucky by any means, but she supposed Jerome had had it’s perks: lack of blizzards being the main one. No air conditioning in the middle of July, however…now that’d been a real issue.
Eventually, slick hands reached to turn off the shower handle, and Marley stepped out of the shower into the steam-filled bathroom and the comfort of a towel wrapped around her body. “That might’ve been the best shower that I’ve ever taken in my entire life.” Marley announced with a laugh as she opened the bathroom door, having left her clothes in the other room. “I seriously don’t even know how to thank you.”

The town was a blanket of snow due to the blizzard that had happened over the weekend and all Lucy wanted to do was curl up in a blanket, and binge watch some tv. She had taken a few days off this week to recover from the event and the women didn't regret it. That was one of the perks of being her own boss. Sure, the blonde did some work from home but she didn't go crazy like she normally would in her office. However, being distracted at home with all the blankets she was curled up in, Lucy decided to head out instead.
It was a little early, and the blonde decided to wear one of her favorite sweatsuits. She threw one little make up, and grabbed her winter coat. One of her most worn bomber jackets. Finding her things and gathering them up, the thirty-two year old decided to go to Bean & Co her favorite coffee shop in town. It was a nice little place to relax when Lucy didn't feel like relaxing at home. Grabbing her keys, the women locked up and headed to her car.
Once arriving at Bean & Co, she locked her car after grabbing her purse. Heading in, she saw a pack of teenagers. The blonde laughed quietly to herself and realized how young people start drinking coffee. She started at twelve, decaf of course and then she headed onto caffeinated and it was a game changer. The line wasn't long, and she ordered her coffee, the usual that she gets. Regular with cream and sugar, and added a scone onto it.
Spotting Heather, Lucy sat down at the table next to her and took out her laptop and notebook, and everything else she needed for the day. Looking at the brunette, the women shook her head "No, they pretty much are." Taking a sip of her coffee, and a bite of her scone the women logged onto her website and opened up google calendar. "You partied without me?" She questioned, and then smiled "What papers are you grading?" Taking another sip of her coffee, Lucy smiled and nodded "Maybe they will, maybe they won't."
A crisp breeze drafted through the air as Heather made her way to the Bean & Co coffee shop to grade some papers, which probably wasn’t the best idea she had, considering she found a bottle or two of Champagne in one of her cupboards. Pushing the café door open, a sigh escaped her lips. A bubbling group in the corner instantly hushed as she walked in – instantly recognising one another as student and teacher. Pretending not to see them, Heather made her way to the counter, ordering an americano and a pastry before finding a seat by the window and letting her bag rest against the table.
A crimson mark decorated the porcelain mug as she sipped her coffee, the bitter liquid cascaded down her throat, instantly reviving her. After correcting a couple of papers, her frustration peaked as scarlet pen danced through each page – angered and exasperated marks littered the margins as she read the answers given. A thwarted expression etched its way onto her features, her brow creasing as she read word after word.
Hearing a sudden commotion in the corner from her students, Heather felt like throwing the papers at them, clearly her hangover still billowing from the night before. Turning to the person nearest to her, she quizzed, “Is it just me, or are kids much more insufferable as the years go on? Or am I just bitter and old?” She knew deep down that her frustration wasn’t purely from the gaggle of giggles in the corner, perhaps it was more from the buzz of the hangover that still lingered in her head. “Apologies for off-loading and asking that, a hangover and grading do not go well together, let me tell you,” Heather half-smiled, “Although, I wonder will the barista give me a free coffee if I give them these papers for the fire, I won’t lie, I’m kinda over these now.”

She needed him, she needed him in her life and the thought of loosing him completely scared her. He was her best friend, he was the one who made her laugh, the one to make her smile. The one who made her feel safe. Had Lucy fallen completely in love with him when she wasn't supposed too? Yes. However, the blonde didn't regret it and she didn't regret telling him either. Sure, the women wished he would have said something different, wished he had felt the same but if he truly didn't then the thirty-two year old would just have to get over it. Right now it was hard, of course it was hard, the way he looked at her, the way he was looking at her right now made her stomach flutter and her heart race. This was their bar. They met met here, had their first kiss here and Lucy oh so wished she could just rewind and start things over with him. Looking at him, she took a deep breath and then took a sip of her beer. It was almost empty, and the women truly should stop drowning her feelings, but it was helping. "Well generators always run out.., so if you need..." Stopping herself, the women couldn't go there. Not just yet, she couldn't invite him to come and stay at her place no matter how badly she wanted to. Finally finishing her beer, Lucy sat there and thought about the first time they had met here, the first time they kissed. It feels like a life time ago but it wasn't. The women swallowed hard and then laughed a little "We won't. This is our place Rem.. and if I'm remembering correctly, we had our first kiss a couple stools down." Shaking her head, Lucy continued with “However, I am claiming the food store.” Lucy joked again and then looked at him “I miss you” She whispered under her breath, hoping he wouldn't hear her due to the loud music in the background.

"That is 100% true." Lucy said smiling at him, all teenagers were lazy and sure the women was lazy but Lucy was also exhausted when she was a teen. Dance lessons non stop, on top of that the thirty-two year old tried to excel at school and everything else, the women back then was a busy bee. It was how she liked it though, and coming from the Baker family that was a way of life. "I am, yes! Brake the rules every once in a while dude." Lucy said smiling again and then took a sip of her water. She folded her arms across her chest and then laughed "I promise you, you won't regret it!" She told him and then watched as he almost begged for a slider and Lucy smiled bigger "See! There you go." Laughing a little, she nodded "That's what people tell me."

Lucy was far from a life savor, so the compliment was nice and the women appreciated it. It made her form a small smile on her lips and then the cold air hit her face. She was used to the winters of Chicago, but if the women was being honest she wanted Summer. It was her favorite season, and Lucy couldn't wait for it. Looking at Vic, the blonde formed another small smile on her lips and nodded her head "It kind of does, but I don't know." Shrugging her shoulders now, Lucy laughed a little "I mean I'd call him for you, and stuff but being cheated on sucks and I haven't talked to him in a while."

Lucy needed a girls night, the women hasn't had one in what feels like forever. Sure she caught up with almost everyone during the event but for some reason that wasn't enough. Dealing with her own shit, it wasn't easy being alone but the blonde was lucky to have some close friends in town. These past couple of weeks have been mentally and emotionally draining for the thirty-two year old, and she really just wanted to enjoy herself tonight. However, the Chicago native decided to invite Mia over to catch up. Sitting on her couch, and eating some Chinese food the blood heard her door bell rang "Come in, it's open!" She shouted and took a bite of her food. Placing it down on the table, Lucy played with her hair “I bought us Chinese food, figured you'd be hungry.” @miarockefeller

Hearing Michael explain to her what the word friend zone actually meant, the blonde looked at him. She knew what it mean, the women just sometimes wished she hadn't put Mick in it. However, putting Mick in the friend zone was the best thing she's ever done. Over the time he's truly become her best friend and she was forever grateful for it. Sure their few dates were grate, but this was better. Getting lost within her thoughts, she laughed a little "Ouch.., I'm kind of sad to know that you weren't sulking about me." Lucy teased and then continued to listen and nodded her head. "True, but I also dumped you because you wouldn't let me change the curtains or give you some decorating tips. That place could've given me the big bucks dude." She joked and then looked at him, dating Mick seemed like a life time ago when it really wasn't. Laying down on the couch still, she took a minute to breathe and collect herself. As he heard her say she didn't run very far, she knew he was talking about him and her but the blonde couldn't help add in another joke "Dude.. I'm from Chicago. I'd like to say I ran pretty far." Raising her eyebrows for a moment, Lucy licked her lips and got comfortable. She figured she'd be with him for a while, talking about what had happened and she hated doing this to him, really. "Mick.." Lucy started and then felt herself get all choked up. Not even realizing he had gotten her a cup of water, Lucy took it and took a sip and then held it tightly in her hands "I told him I was in love with him. It didn't really go that well. I fucked it up again, like I always do. He told me I couldn't be be in love with him and that I shouldn't be. That I deserve better.. but I dont want anyone else Mick. He's.., I'm in love with him. I want everything with him."

This could end right here. All the pain that she caused could end right here, but Lucy was in no mood for crying or yelling tonight. She did enough of that with him over the past weekend. Sure the women wanted things to go back to normal with him, and she was trying to give him the space he needed but it looked like that wasn't happening. It wasn't like she planned this, meeting him here. This is where she would come after a long day at work. She should really start spending those moments at home, away from everyone. She told him she was in love with him, and he told her not to be. Lucy tried to wrap her head around everything they said to one another, and it was killing her. This was killing her. She could do it though, she could pretend like she never said anything. As the bar tender handed her another beer, Lucy thanked him and then took a deep breath. Her heart tightened and Lucy swallowed har, but then played with the wrapping of the bottle again to distract her from her thoughts. Hearing his voice, and now looking at him Lucy formed a small smiled. She didn't know what to say, she was trying to think. "Mmhmm.." Taking a sip of her beer again, Lucy swallowed hard "How are you holding up, without power and everything.." The thirty two year old looked at him, she looked at him and then took one more swing at her alcohol “This is the place where we first met.. of course its big enough for the two of us..” Lucy whispered, she tried to say it like a joke, she would always try to joke in awkward situations

The hangover was going to be a bitch, that's for sure. Lucy knew that if she drank too much she'd be sick the next day. She always regretted drinking. Taking another shot of alcohol, Lucy laughed a little and nodded her head in agreement "I'm kind of mentally drained from crying. I'm over it. Just need this to drown everything out.." Lucy said and took one more shot. "How many shots have you taken already?' She questioned the brunette, curious now.

"Not sure if I would call myself a life savor, but I'll take the compliment." Lucy said laughing a little and then nodded her head "You're welcome." It was freezing outside, and she watched as his fingers touched the lighter. The smell of smoke used to reek on Lucy's clothes back when she was in college, and whenever she'd return home to Chicago her mother would yell at her for it. The habit had become a bad one and Lucy was glad she was able to quit. Getting lost within her thoughts, the blonde looked up at him "My ex boyfriend cheated on me.." She laughed, but she was being honest. Smoking was something she did in the past. "He was the one who got me into smoking, and he was the one who made me hate smoking." Taking a breath, she let the cold air hit her "It sounds stupid, but every time I think I want a cigarette, I think of him."
