I rewatched Inception and realized pretty much every single character has extremely divorced energy

Cobb: technically widowed, but his ex-wife still appears and he is Definitely Not Over It. Divorced in spirit

Saito: sleeping with a married woman, but it isn't referred to as an affair on his part. And yet, definitely husband material. Ergo, divorced

Arthur and Eames: divorced from each other. but also remarried

Ariadne: The only one who is definitely not married or divorced

Yusuf: Possibly just chronically single

Prof Miles: canonically extremely divorced

Robert Fischer: appears to be currently unmarried, but just wait 10 years

bad habits inception gave me:

going “hm actually i think it’s better if it’s the OTHER way around” about any headcanon or dynamic assigned to a pairing ever because arthur and eames both have a mask up at all times so do we really know how they would act in their private relationship. they are much more interesting and feel more human if they have layers and contradicting characterizations and something unexpected under their skin in this essay i
