@inknomens Encountered Kirara~!
She'd been missing for days, having gotten separated from the group during a relatively chaotic battle. Coupled with several injuries, Kirara had lost track of where they'd gone and had to take several days to heal enough to be able to follow their scent in hopes of finding them again.
Finally, after almost three weeks, she'd managed to find them again. The undergrowth rustled beneath her feet as she walked towards them, ears flicking as she stopped several yards away, eyes searching, wanting to make sure it truly was the group she had been seeking. Mouth opening, the large demon let out a sound, alerting the group of her presence and hoping they truly were who she'd been searching for.

@coffeemusings Encountered Kirara~!
How many days had she been wandering alone? Ever since Sango had passed, Kirara had separated herself from Inuyasha's group, having stayed in silence by her gravesite for almost two weeks before she finally decided to move on.
Now, she had been traveling on her own for quite some time, finding fish in rivers and stopping on occasion to rest. Her wanderings had taken her to the base of a relatively familiar mountain range, tails flicking as she stopped and scented the air.
Offering a soft, low growl, she stopped and looked up at the pathways leading up through the large obstacle, ears twitching. The scent of wolves filled her nostrils, as well as those of the wolf demons that lived there. There was one smell in particular that seemed very familiar, though she couldn't quite place it right away. Maybe she could find a place up the mountain pass where she could rest for the night, hopefully without disturbing the locals.
Turning, she began to wander up the pathway, stopping every now and then to scent the area and ensure she wasn't encroaching too much on those who lived there. Finally finding a relatively wide ledge, the large demon leapt up to it and settled there. She could see everything from her current perch, including any animals or demons that would likely come wandering by, and she decided this was as good a place as any to rest for the time being.
Lying down, Kirara yawned and surveyed her new surroundings, tails resting by her back paws, one front paw tucked beneath her while the other outstretched. Perhaps tonight, she might actually be able to get a proper sleep.

" nodding off... "
send in " nodding off... " for the exhausted sender to fall asleep against the receiver's shoulder, and for the receiver's response to this. ||Accepting!||
They'd been traveling for days now, Kirara's wounds were almost fully healed, and she was finally able to walk at a solid pace again without limping. The night was dark, and they'd finally found a suitable place to stop for a quick moment of respite.
Kirara had sat down for a moment to catch a second wind when a sudden weight fell against her shoulder, causing her ear to flick slightly as she turned her head to see what it was.
It seemed that Inuyasha had pretty much fully passed out against her, and a gentle growl left the large feline. Slowly, she lied down, nudging the half demon to allow him to rest within the crook of her body, his head still against her shoulder, tails wrapping themselves around him.
A low, quiet purr sounded from her as she settled down, not minding his full weight against her. For tonight, she could keep watch and protect them both, he deserved to rest and she wasn't about to wake him up.

For several long minutes, she stayed right there in his arms, tucking herself into that soft, comforting warmth. It took a while for those tears to stop, leaving soft stains upon her fur, but those would wash off relatively quickly.
When she had managed to get them to stop, Kirara suddenly perked up to attention, sitting up in his arms, ears up, nose to the wind. She had remembered something, something very important.
Without warning, she leaped from his arms and transformed, not even pausing before she was taking to the air. She hoped they wouldn't take too much offense by her sudden departure, hearing everyone's confused calls of her name as she flew off, back the way they had come, faster than most could even blink. But she had to do this, it needed to happen, and it was important enough that it was worth leaving for...Even if it meant she had to be on her own for a few days.
Kirara was indeed startled by his sudden appearance at her side, having been completely focused on the dog. She jumped slightly at the sound of his voice, turning her head to look at him with a surprised hiss, but she made no move to lash out at him. After all, she knew who he was, someone she recognized as a very dear friend.
It took a few long moments, but her snarling expression slowly began to fade, ears falling back slightly as she shook her head with a soft growl. It wasn't one of aggression, frustration perhaps, but not at Inuyasha or anyone else in particular really. The way he spoke to her, like he understood everything without even trying, the way that Sango had once done...
It hurt. Hurt in a way that she couldn't even understand, her eyes stung in a way they never had before and something within her chest seemed to tighten, but she couldn't understand why.
It wasn't the first time Kirara had lost someone she had loved, and yet... Somehow, the pain was worse than it had ever been before. A large paw raised up to swipe at her eyes, head shaking violently to try and get rid of the stinging within them, a low hiss of confusion or perhaps even sadness sounding from her throat.
Was this what everyone else was feeling, too? This deep, indescribable feeling that up until now, she'd never known a demon could experience? Was this really what humans felt when someone died? Suddenly, every time she had refused to let one of them pet her or lean into her fur when they had perhaps needed it, she couldn't help but feel downright awful, and that seemed to make the tightening within her chest even worse.
The wet feeling now dripping from her eyes and down her fur was something she couldn't understand. It was salty, it stung, and it hurt, and yet... She couldn't seem to stop it.
It didn't take long for that familiar flash of fire to appear and she was back to her much smaller size again. The anger and restlessness before having been replaced by nothing but a deep, painful sadness. She was still pawing at her eyes, small body trembling slightly and yet the tears just wouldn't stop.
Figuring out that the pawing at her face wouldn't make them go away (even if it took her a solid minute to do so), she finally managed to look up at Inuyasha and... The look within his eyes told her everything she needed to know. Offering a soft meow, she stood up and moved to brush herself against his ankles, figuring that if he was feeling this same pain, then maybe she could at least try to help him feel a little better despite her own feelings.

A quiet, low purr rumbled within Kirara's chest in response to the quiet fingers running through her fur. Her tails wrapped quietly over him, and there she stayed, though she did raise her head to look at him for a few moments. She knew how deep of a bond Sango and Inuyasha had shared, having seen it every single day, even if no one else had noticed it. And maybe, offering him this silent form of comfort, to let him know that as long as she was there, he would always have a small part of Sango with him wherever he went, perhaps that would be enough.
Nothing could take the pain of her loss away from either of them, but at the very least, they still had each other.

He honestly wasn't expecting it and he was sure that Shippo would be upset about it later---he was a child after all and though he was a child that had been through things no child should ever have to go through, that was still a lingering fact---but he didn't stop her. In fact, when she curled up around him, he reached out and gently rested a hand on one of her front legs.
He had felt such a familiarity with Sango and her pain. It had created a sense of loyalty between the two of them that was unique. He didn't think anyone else existed that could understand him in that raw, powerful way and he certainly wasn't going to go looking for it again.
But...
He was silently hoping that maybe in her passing Sango had found some relief from her pain. All the times he'd seen her crying and grieving, he hoped that wherever she was that she wasn't feeling like that anymore.
He rubbed two fingers gently through the fur, a silent thank you.

Kirara turned her gaze to him when he moved to walk alongside her, a silent passing of understanding that just as he was by her side, she would also be by his. Demon or not, Inuyasha didn't have to speak in order for Kirara to understand him. Just like Sango had, she too had grown to form a deep bond with the half demon, in all honesty that had been the only true reason she had stayed with the group.
When Sango had died, she had asked Kirara to watch over her beloved friend, and the demon planned to keep that promise. But there was a reason as to where she was going now, following her keen sense of smell. It was slow going, but eventually, as night fell over the forest, Kirara found what she was looking for: A small clearing with a shallow river that ran through the area.
Choosing a quiet spot by a nearby river, the large cat did something that may have come as a bit of a shock to...Well, pretty much anyone. She walked straight into the shallow water by the bank and lied down, a low, drawn-out sigh hissing from her nose as she lowered her head to rest upon the riverbank.
The cool water soothed the pain of her wounds and also helped to clean them, and the relief it brought had been entirely worth the journey to get there. Not only that, but the clay within the riverbank also had properties that helped the healing process, without the violent sting of the herbs Inuyasha had used earlier. She knew it was there based on the smell, and it was a sign that she wasn't ready to give up, not by a long shot.
Instead, she had gone to this very spot because she had been here once before, with Sango, many years ago, and had remembered exactly where it had been, even after so long.
Eyes closing, she allowed herself to rest, allowing the cool relief of the cold water and the gentle clay to bring her some much-needed relief from the pain and actually get some proper rest in an area that was safe, and far enough away from the open ground they had traveled in before. Fireflies danced lazily through the trees, and a sense of peace was all around them.
Kirara was going her best to keep up with the group, fighting the searing pain of her wounds in order to stay beside them. Every step was painfully slow, and this had been the fourth time she had collapsed, unable to keep up. Growling and hissing as those herbs were pressed into the deep wounds she now held, some of which had exposed bone, ears pressing back against her skull in discomfort, yet she did her best to allow him to tend to them. Yet despite all of their best efforts, even for a demon, Kirara's wounds could yet prove fatal in time, if they did not heal properly. She remained in her large form, knowing that was her best chance at staying alive. Yet despite that, she was struggling more with each passing hour as her energy and strength slowly drained.
And the way the rest of them were looking at her...She knew what it meant. Inuyasha's gentle touch was a comfort, but it didn't stop the pain or heal her wounds. No amount of gentle petting or soft words would be able to fix this.
With a heavy grimace, the large demon slowly forced herself to her feet, pulling away from his touch. Yet instead of moving to follow the group, as she always had, Kirara slowly turned the other way. If there was a chance she wouldn't survive this, she knew exactly where she wanted to be.
Slowly beginning to limp away, tails held low and head level, gaze straight ahead. She didn't even stop to look back, ears swiveling slightly backwards as she forced her exhausted body to move, slow and agonizing as it was, the two tailed beast knew where she was going, and whether they went with her or not, that was of no concern now.

The night had been peaceful, no attacks or hardships for once. And so... Kirara finally allowed herself to curl up and rest. As she drifted off into slumber, the warm crackling of the fire put her at ease.
Yet before long, a soft, familiar voice called her name, stirring her from her slumber. Sitting up, Kirara found that she was still in the same place, but it was nearly midday. The voice called her again, black ears perking up almost instantly as she turned her head. She knew that voice... But how could it be? Yet she couldn't deny what she saw, and within seconds she was sprinting right towards those open arms.
Loud purrs and happy meows came springing from her throat as she leaped into them, soft hands moving to pull her close. Sango was back! Kirara didn't even think to question it, she was so overjoyed that her best friend was there again.
Sango gave a warm chuckle. "Hey, easy there, Kirara! I missed you too." She said, gently running her hand over the nekomata's soft fur as she spoke. "I'm sorry I had to leave you, but it looks like you're doing a great job keeping everyone safe."
She hoped this moment would never end, that she could stay in Sango's arms forever...And yet, before long, that soft touch began to fade away, that voice growing ever softer.
"Take care of them for me, okay Kirara?"
And just like that, suddenly, she was wide awake again. But as she looked around, eyes wide, jumping to her feet... Sango was gone. For a brief moment, panic set in and Kirara began to look for her, calling out for her friend.
She ran from one side of the campside to the other, head turning as she searched for her friend, eyes desperately searching the other familiar faces within. Until finally, after several long moments, she realized that Sango had never really been there. Her scent was nowhere to be found, she was nowhere to be found.
Yet those words still wrang clearly within her mind.
"Take care of them for me, Kirara."
It was then that she understood. It had only been a dream, and yet somehow... Sango's words were like one final goodbye. A request to keep the rest of the people she had once loved so dearly safe, to protect them just as Kirara had once guarded her.
Despite the deep pangs within her chest, Kirara sat in silence, head lifting to stare up at the stars. She would honor that one last request from her beloved friend, no matter the cost in the end. Even if she would never see Sango again except for in her dreams, she would still do as she had been asked, and keep a silent guard over the small group of friends that Sango had cherished ever so much.

Kirara understood him better than he likely thought she might, ears perking up. Her tails swished slightly as he spoke, ears twitching as she listened to every word before another soft meow left the small yokai.
Without so much as an ounce of hesitation, after he told her he just wanted her to be safe, the little demon leaped right up into his arms. Making her way onto one of his shoulders, a relatively happy purr sounding right beside his ear, she rubbed her head against his cheek.
Perhaps, if she played her cards right, he might decide to keep her around for a little while. Or perhaps even decide to let her stay with him...Wherever it was that he was going. After all, it wasn't as though she really had anyone else to turn to or anywhere else to go, and she didn't fancy the idea that people were scared of her.
It didn't take long before there was a rustling in the alleyway nearby, and a monstrous shadow showed upon the walls nearby. A massive beast, with saber teeth and two tails, just as they had described, and it was stalking closer and closer to Beast Boy as he gazed at the fur between his fingers. Closer it came, until it reached the end of the alleyway to reveal...
A tiny creature, with that same, golden fur, black accents upon its ears, paws and tails. No larger than a small house cat, barely as tall as the hero's ankles.
Once in full view, the little thing sat on her haunches with a soft mewl of curiosity, head tilting as big, red eyes blinked softly up at him. She was no threat, not like this, tails swishing slightly. She was indeed a demonic little critter, but she had no intentions of causing him any harm or ill will, and it showed.

@beastypaws Found Kirara~!
For weeks, citizens had reported seeing a strange creature that looked similar to a cat. Some said it was massive, almost six feet tall. Others reported it being the size of a house cat, perhaps slightly smaller. But the consistency within the reports was that the creature had two tails rather than one, with red eyes and an almost demonic-looking appearance.
Whatever it was, people were starting to get spooked. Police reports found nothing of particular interest, other than the occasional stray cat, but that didn't stop the fear from spreading. The more sightings were reported, the more people in the city and countrysides were starting to panic.
It got to the point where the police, as well as animal control, asked the Teen Titans to take a look and help dispel the worry of this supposed mystery beast. Its last sighting was coupled with a blurred picture of what people thought could perhaps be a known predator with a possible mutation.

@loyaltwxntails
"Don't move too much. It'll get worse."
He hated having to do it, but it couldn't be avoided. He had to apply the herbs he'd crushed to the gaping wounds, and he knew how much it would hurt. But it was either that, or they may never properly heal. Unlike him, she was a full demon. But wounds this severe, even a full demon would be incapacitated for days, if not a little over a week before they healed.
A hand came to rest upon Kirara's head, maybe gently petting it would help her deal with the pain. He wasn't blind. He could feel the others staring at him. Fourth time he'd stopped for her, today alone, and they'd only been traveling for a few hours. His deep hatred for Naraku hadn't changed, but he'd already lost his best friend. He'd lost the woman he'd never get to talk to again. He'd be damned if there would be any risk of losing Kirara, she had been even closer to Sango than he was.
Hand continuously petting her head, there was ferocity in his tone, and golden eyes when he glared back at the others. He's sick of being stared at in general, but the looks on their faces. The subtle annoyance, he can see it all. Weren't they all supposed to be like a family here?
"Ya gotta problem? 'Cause if y'er so inconvenienced right now, go the hell on by yourselves."
Attention was back on Kirara, words spoken under his breath soon after. Like night and day, his voice was soft all over again.
"The burning should ease up, and it'll help keep your blood from gettin' tainted or anything."

He knew her name? It had been a long time since anyone had called her by name. The small creature's head tilted slightly to one side and she calmed, blinking up at him with one ear drooping in a slightly comical way.
He was the first person who hadn't tried to grab her or chase her, and his scent...She had smelled something like it before. Not quite human, but not quite demon, either. Like... Someone she had once known many years ago. Nose twitching, she started to grow curious. That familiar smell was something she recognized, and as he spoke to her in a calm, kind tone of voice, it reminded her of her old friends.
Maybe he really was different. Getting up, she took a slow, hesitant step in his direction, then another, until she was close enough that he could easily reach out and touch her. A small paw slowly outstretched, drawing back as though she wasn't quite sure of herself at first, before she tentatively reached out again and placed it on the back of his hand.
This was probably the closest anyone had gotten to her in weeks, maybe even longer. But something about Rin was reassuring, whether it was the fact that he smelled familiar or perhaps it was because he had been kind to her, she wasn't really sure. But at the very least, she was trying to reach out to him, as shy and uneasy as she was.
@aonokumura {Plotted Starter~!}
It was pretty unusual for the higher ups to assign such a task to a student, but Rin was no ordinary student it seemed. After all, his affinity for communicating with demons of the feline variety seemed to be very strong and so...Well, he'd been given a little bit of a project to work on.
And so, there she was, now backing herself into a corner of his room, hissing and growling. Her fur bristled, tails lashing...Yet despite that, when he'd reached out to pet her, even though she had batted his hand away with a fast paw, she had not used her claws.
They had told him her name was Kirara, and like Kuro, her master had also passed away recently. Unlike Kuro however, they thought that she did not have the ability to transform, as she had never shown any inclination to do so (at least as far as they knew).

Kirara moved slightly to sit up a little, but not because she didn't want his hand resting on her back. Instead, she shifted closer to him, turning her head to gently lick at the back of his fingers since that was the most she could reach. A soft purr rumbled beneath his palm, ears twitching a little.
She hadn't been sure how to process it all, but the fact that he'd been so quietly patient spoke volumes, and perhaps in her own small way, she was trying to bring him just a small amount of comfort.
After a few moments, she moved out from under his gentle hand and walked a few steps away, transforming into her larger form and stretching before moving to lie down behind him, gently nuzzling her head against his and wrapping around him slightly, tails moving to rest over him like a blanket of sorts. Laying her head down, paws tucked beneath her chest, a low purr steadily rumbling within her chest, her eyes closed. She had noticed his own silent grief despite her own pain, so maybe this time, she could help him know that just like her, he wasn't alone.

He wished he didn't know what it felt like---that he didn't understand what was happening the moment he saw it. Sango's death had hit them all hard---InuYasha was never the type to show his grieving openly if he could help it, a habit from years of being alone, but Sango had been just as important to him as everyone else. He had respected Sango a lot as a person and as a fighter. He had trusted her to have his back at all times. He didn't think that he had ever had a companion in his life that he had felt that way about.
He had held a crying Kagome, he had sat with a grieving Miroku, he had let Shippo sleep near him for comfort when he was having nightmares and unable to cuddle up against Kirara when she wouldn't let him---but not once had he ever tried to push himself into Kirara's space or say even a word to her about it, because he understood it all so well.
He had been staring off into the distance when he heard the little paddle of paws approaching him. He didn't make even the slightest movement, letting Kirara decide what she wanted to do. When she curled up against him, he waited a moment before gently resting a hand on her back. He didn't move to pet, not yet, but he did let her feel his hand there to acknowledge the effort that she was making and that she was safe.
