It's hard to comprehend the loss. Between Monday afternoon and now. Sad to think the homes I drove by and store I shopped in are now burned to the ground. Every major road I've driven on to enjoy the Oregon outdoors the last two months is closed or was closed. McKenzie River...

Wildfires

5 pm - blood red sky.  News of people trying to evacuate and rescue their horses from mountain areas. All three major highways across the mountains closed. Small towns burning up - Mill Creek.  I wish I was there in the midst helping get the horses out.

A surreal morning is Salem, Oregon.  A blanket of wildfire smoke.  Stark contrast to yesterday’s adventure at Blue River reservoir.

Had a great day! Started with breakfast in Eugene, then swimming at Blue River reservoir. Took a short side trip to Cougar reservoir. The Water was much lower at both swimming holes. You'll see in one picture I found a rock outcrop to jump off of. Yes, I checked the bottom first... Days like this I wish I had a water proof camera with me. Always grateful for good friends!

Neptune state park. Just walk a hundred yards from the road, away from the few others that might be there. No footprints in the sand, just mine.

Only a handful of people on the beach. Like a dream, I fall into the waves. Nothing else matters.

All along the coast from Waldport to Florence. Cape Perpetua. One of the most breathtaking places.

Devil’s Churn Oregon.  This weekends camping trip takes me to the coast south of Newport.  Base camp is at Waldport.  Tomorrow I explore the cape.

Crooked river canyon. Back to camping in the high desert. Up at White Rock Springs.   Valley south of Prineville.

Beverly Beach state park.

Mount Washington on the way to Redmond, Oregon.  Blue River Lake on the way back to Salem.  I went around to the main side this time.  Went swimming in two spots, both great, refreshing, not cold.

On my way from working at Bend I found Blue Lake. The water crystal clear. Refreshing, not cold.  I went swimming.
