After Wildcats 205...
About an hour after their match, Maxine and the Bombshell Club had made it to their hotel room. To save money and to make sure everything gets accounted for, all four of the women decided it’d be better to sleep in the same room. Thankfully, there were rooms with double queen beds available and they were able to get accommodated rather quick. After the group put their bags away, they went out to a nearby bar to get some food, drinks, and celebrate the victory. Laura and Brittni spotted a karaoke machine, and pretty much dragged Maxine and Mercedes over to sing a few songs with them. Their celebrating went on for the next couple hours, with stories shared amongst the Bombshells and the other patrons in the bar. Max had kept to herself most of the night, only chiming in when the story involved her. She was going through some personal stuff, and didn’t want to bring down the good vibes that not only her girls had, but the rest of the bar had. It was almost like something out of a movie for Max, seeing proud fighters boasting their wars amongst the people, and those people buying them drinks. Eventually the group left, and made it back to their hotel. Laura and Brittni were the first of the group to fall asleep, Mercedes followed suit shortly after, and Max slowly fell asleep on the couch not far from where Mercedes was sleeping. Only a few hours had passed, and Max was slowly waking up due to the couch not being comfortable enough. She sat up, setting her feet on the floor and let out a yawn. Max took a look at everyone else, they looked comfortable which made Max feel at peace, at least somewhat. She stood up to stretch and felt her stomach rumbling, so she decided she was going to head out to the lobby to get food, coffee, and do some light paperwork on her laptop. It didn’t take long for Max to gather her things, and head out to the lobby. She ordered her food at the counter, waited for it to be done, and then went to an empty table to get set up.
Max looked at her phone for the time. Thankfully, she didn’t need to leave until later in the day, so she had time to enjoy her breakfast, and get caught up on her work. She was so caught up in what she was doing that she didn’t notice a familiar blonde approaching the table.
“So, this is where you ran off to.”
Max looked up from her screen to see Mercedes, she smiled. “Hey.”
“Hey” Mercedes playfully mocks as she sits across from Max. “Was the couch too uncomfortable, Max?” she asks while keeping a smirk on her face.
Max bit the corner of her lip for a few seconds. “I wasn’t planning on sleeping long, I have a lot of work I need to get done anyways…” she said.
Mercedes looks at Max with derision. “Sure.” She says before reaching to Max’s sandwich, and then takes a bite from the corner of it. “That’s about as believable as a screen door on a battleship… Submarine… Whatever that saying is.”
“No, go ahead, help yourself.” Max says in a dry tone.
“Come on, Muscles.” Mercedes takes another bite of Max’s sandwich before placing it back on the plate. “You’ve been quiet all night, like more than normal.” She starts off. “What’s going on?”
“Mercedes.”
Mercedes gently closed Max’s laptop, she made sure that Max’s hands weren’t in the way before doing so. “Max, I’m worried about you.” She said. “I mean, we used to be much closer when you started out.” Mercedes moved one hand towards Max’s hand. “We’re all in this together, you know that, right?” she asked. “If you’re sad, I’m going to be sad too, because we’ve been through a lot together… Even if it’s not public knowledge.”
Max looks down at Mercedes’ hand, taking a deep breath. “I know, ‘Cedes… I know.” She says quietly. “I’ve been dealing with a mental patch in my life, that involves another person that I care about deeply.” She admits.
“Is it Trixie?”
The muscular woman’s gaze met with the blonde’s, she gulped and nodded a couple times. “I… I had lamented about feeling powerless to help her, and that I understood why she’s being consumed the way she is.” Max starts to explain. “I also mentioned how little my feelings matter in this industry, and…” she sighed. “She in a way brushed it off, or at least that’s how I feel.”
Mercedes knew that Max had some feelings for Trixie, it was never a secret. Still, it wasn’t easy to hear that someone that she cared about, didn’t exactly make it clear if it was mutual or not. “Would you like my opinion, Max?” she asked, Max nodded. “I think she knows that the old Trixie Decker is dying, and what or whoever is taking over… That’s going to be the Trixie Decker of now, and the part of her that cares about you, wants you to know that, but also to find comfort elsewhere for your sanity.”
“Yeah..?”
Mecedes nodded a few times. “I know why Trixie is important to you, she was your first… Since becoming you.” She grazed Max’s knuckles with her thumb. “I’ve done what I could to help you along the way, but I know it’s nothing in comparison…”
“I wouldn’t have been Max, if you didn’t lead me on that path, Mecedes.” Max turns her hand slightly to take Mercedes’ hand in her own. “You’ve been the missing part of me, every time I had felt lost, you were right there, and I remembered where I needed to go.”
A soft chuckle comes out of Mercedes. “Look at you, being all sweet, and flirty.” She jokes. “We were here for you because you were there for us in the beginning, and continued to be there for us even from afar.” Mercedes smiled a slight amount. “Ride or die, Bombshells for life… Right?”
A slight smile comes from Max as she nods. “Ride or die.” She confirms.
Mercedes returned the smile before letting go of Max’s hand. “I’m gonna go order some food, because that sandwich ain’t kickin’ for me.” She said as she stood up.
“No shit, you ate half of it.”
Mercedes shrugged and walked around to stand next to where Max was sitting. “You know I’m good for it, Muscles.” She said before she cupped Max’s cheeks, and pressed her lips against Max’s.
Max’s face lit up from this action, and instinctively she placed a gentle hand on Mercedes’ neck so she could return the kiss. Of course, Max has had her fair share of people that she’s kissed, even prior to being Max, but… There was something about Mercedes that made Max feel warm for once in a long time.
The blonde tilted her head some to deepen the kiss, causing a soft noise to come from Max which only made Mercedes wish they had their own room, that way she could take things a little further. But, she was okay with a slightly sloppy kiss in the lobby, at least for now. She slowly parted from the kiss, letting out some soft breaths as her eyes opened some. Mercedes smirked at the sight of Max. “I know I’m the furthest from your first, how the hell do you look so damn innocent?”
Max chuckled and then bit her lip. “You’re the second person that has me feeling like this, so.. It must be the quality of the person that kissed me.” She said before placing one soft peck against Mercedes’ lips.
“Shut up.” Mercedes kept a smile on her face as she straightened up. “I’m getting me another sandwich, you want anything?”
“Uh.. I’ll take whatever Java Chip frap equivalent they have.”
Mercedes nods and heads towards the counter to place her order.
Max leaned back in her seat, observing the sight of Mercedes walking, almost as if something in Max’s head clicked about the Bombshell leader. “I wonder…”
