How to learn foreign languages

Hello, guys!

I`ve said before I`m interested in foreign languages. I learn English and Italian only but I hope one day this list will get bigger. So, I wanted to share my experience in learning languages with you all.

At first. If you are not very organized (i am)  it will be good for you to find a school of foreign languages or a teacher.  As to me I prefer to study with a group. This way you can practice your speaking skills not only with your teacher but also with people whose knowledge is the same as yours. Better to study with people your age. So, my English group consists of three 16 year olds (I`m 16 too), Italian: 18 year old and 24 year old girls.  I feel myself okay with them all. 

Doesn`t matter if you have classes with teacher / group or learn language yourself you can use all of these tips to improve your skills.

To know any language well you have to be good at 4 things:

                              ○ Listening

                             ○ Speaking

                             ○ Reading

                             ○ Writing

Let`s talk about all of them.

Listening.  You need to listen and understand what you`re listening to. How to do this?

              • Watch films, tv shows, youtube videos, cartoons in the language you learn with subtitles. For example you start with subs in your native language, watch, listen, read subs and try to ‘connect’ them. When your skills will get better watch with subs in this language, to understand written text is easier than just speech. Also you will know how some words are pronounced.

              (I think everybody knows English speaking Youtubers or at least it`s not difficult to find them, what I can`t say about other languages. So I made two playlist of Italian and Russian Youtubers I like. Check it out if you learn one of them.)

              • Music. When 2 years ago I became interested in English I started with this. I was listening to the song while reading its lyrics in English, then in Russian, than in English and in Russian again. Repeat it hundreds of times. Or at least just listen to music in this language.

              • Audiobooks and podcasts.  You can just listen to them like podcasts or listen while you are reading (the same book of course). Almost the same thing like watching films with subtitles. You can find original book or adapted for your level.  

              • Exercises.  Buy a book or find on the internet listening exercises for your language and do it.

Speaking.  It`s quiet easy. Just speak.

              • With yourself, oh how many time I did it and heard that my friends had done it too. In the car, at home, etc. You can record it for the memory or to listen it later and find your own mistakes. It`s okay, if you are alone now, speak with yourself.

              • If you have a friend who learns the same language offer him/her to speak this language always or just sometimes.

              • If your lever is good start a channel on Youtube.  You will have to speak really a lot. There`s no other way, your speaking will get really better.

Reading.  

              • Learn lots of words. To know the language fluently you have to know many words.  So, develop your vocabulary.

              • Read and translate quotes, phrases and so on. It is not hard to open Tumblr/twitter/etc. and read some but it is helpful.  

              • Books, stories, fan fictions, blogs, etc. Just read a lot.

Writing. (spelling)

              • To improve your spelling just rewrite texts of your level. You can find more here.

              • Do lots of exercises. As I have already said you can buy a book or find them on the internet.

               so, i hope some of these tips i know will help ypu to achieve the success.

Look at photo albums 

Bake cookies together

Try to bake a traditional dish from your country/region

Paint together

Play loud music and dance/sing together

Binge watch tv/Netflix

Go for ice cream

Go to animal shelters

Go window shopping at the mall

Go thrift shopping

Take your dog for a walk or to the dog park

Go to the movies on discount days (usually Tuesdays)

Build a blanket fort

sleep in fort

Make breakfast in bed for your partner

Do junior science experiments with household products

Prepare a candlelight dinner for your partner (or prepare it together)

Go to you/your S.O.’s (former/current) high school for sporting events

Watch a local amateur play

Play video games together

Play board/card games together

Dear teen girls,

Stop abusing your boyfriends and yes what you are doing is abuse.

Stop:

Yelling at him in front of his friends 

Hitting or slapping him when he does or says something you don’t like

Telling him he doesn’t have a choice when it comes to decisions that involve both of you 

Telling him he can’t hang out with friends because you don’t like him

Telling him to not talk to other girls even if they are his friend

Forcing him to spend every moment with you 

Belittling him and pointing out all his flaws

Calling him stupid or making fun of him for making a mistake

Threatening to break up with him if he doesn’t do what you want

Being emotionally manipulative and crying until he does what you want

Accusing him of cheating every time he’s not with you

Blow up is phone if he doesn’t text you every five minutes 

Telling him you are the must thing that has ever happened to him and no one else will love

Physically attacking him when ever you are mad

Forcing him to have sex despite that fact that he said he didn’t want to

Invading his privacy by going through his phone

Getting mad at him for changing his password and demanding he tell you what it is

If a guy did any of these things to a girl it would be considered abuse but since its the other way around its considered normal. Throughout High school I saw many girl treating their boyfriends like shit. Sometime even physically abusing them in the hallways and no one trying to stop it because its a girl attacking a boy. 

Boys: If your girlfriend does anything on this list leave her. It is abuse and you deserve better.

Girls: if you find your self doing anything on this list to your boyfriend you need to knock it off because you are being abusive.

Imagine. A world where women don't have to be Leggy, Busty, Long haired and size ten or below to be seen as attractive. A world where men don't have to be Tall, Toned, and Practically Perfect to be attractive. A world where nobody judges you for your race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, appearance, money, social class, or anything other than your personality. A world where people can wear whatever the fuck they want and feel fantastic but also safe from lude stares and remarks. A world where men aren't afraid to report domestic and sexual abuse because society will perceive them as "weak" or say "He must have deserved it". A world where bisexuality and pansexuality are seen as valid as homosexuality. Where they aren't erased, and people aren't told that they're just ''in a phase, and will eventually settle on being gay or straight" A world where the trans community can use whatever the hell toilet they wanna in the knowledge that they will be safe. A world where mental health is valued as much as physical health. A world where we don't fight fire with fire, and respond to hatred with our own "An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind" A world where people aren't afraid to say I have depression I have a personality disorder I have anxiety I'm​ transgender I'm bisexual I'm gay I'm pansexual I'm disabled I'm Islamic I'm Asexual I'm Sikh I'm Catholic I'm pagan A world where, when someone sees a girl wearing an engagement ring they don't say "Who's the lucky guy?" And they just say "Congratulations! What's their name?" And that they do the same when it comes to men A world where people are kinder More accepting A world where the only thing that matters, is your personality. A world where you can be whoever the fuck you want, whoever the fuck you are and feel safe and loved and accepted. I know, that I will never see a world like this in my lifetime. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't do anything about it. So I judge the individual. Not the group. I make my own decisions, not follow whatever the hell everyone else is saying. So yeah If you want the same, get off your backside and do something about it. Be kinder. More considerate. Stop constantly jumping to hate.
