“Oh---no, it’s okay,” Rose smiled, shaking her head. She’d noticed some time ago that the boy had seem distracted, and stopped telling her story out of concern for him. “I doubt you want to hear about my day with a bunch of kids anyway. But um, are you alright?”
“Hmm sorry? I wasn’t paying attention. Something caught my eye and pulled me back into a memory.” Sawyer said, unusually soft for the obnoxious boy. He’d caught sight of his ex-girlfriend’s best friend walking down the street, and couldn’t shake the memories of her. “Could you start over? I feel bad for making you say all that while I wasn’t listening.”

“Joey. Aw. Well, I’m not sure if there’s any kind of plant heaven, but I’m sure in his last moments he knew you only wanted the best for him. You could... hold a small service. Bury what remains in the yard and grow something new, or be all poetic and scatter him into the wind. I’ve personally always found withered flowers and plants kind of pretty in their own right.”
—– “ DEFINITELY. i just … well, joey the hydrangea plant will definitely be missed but … this has never happened to me before. i mean, sure plants have withered due to it not being the right time for them to bloom but that’s natural. i feel like i actually killed him – but that’s not what i’m getting to. i’m just wondering what exactly i should do with him ?? throw him away ? bury him ? FLUSH HIM ?? ”

“Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that. I’d say looking at it as a fresh start is your best bet. It’s a silver lining! Positive thoughts can only bring you positive results, right?”
—– “ MY HYDRANGEA PLANT DIED, most likely during the drive here, and i’m actually really sad about it ? i don’t know. this must be a bad omen … i mean, it could also be a good one if you really think about it ?? now i’ll have to start fresh. new. maybe i’ll even try planting a hibiscus plant this time. ”

“Thanks, you’re an angel. I almost---wait wait, no! No, I’m not a mom! I’m a teacher. Kindergarten. I meant my students. Oh lord, imagine me with more than one kid at my age.”
“I don’t see anything, you’re fine. You’re a mom, though? How old are your kids?”

“How very noble of you. But dear god, that sounds like some creepy Syfy movie. It’d be nice to be spared, but to be queen? Of the tiny evil overlords? No thanks.”
“See, I know my boundaries.” He replied with a laugh. “I think you will because they’re still young, they don’t know better. And maybe they’ll think of you as a sort of mentor and spare your life when they take over the world. Maybe you can be their queen.”

“Yes! I’m ready for my debut. Bring me my tail Lily, the fans are waiting for me.”
“Ariel who? You’re the superior mermaid. It’s official, they should make a movie about you.”

“Just a few, yeah,” she winced in a playful manner. “Oh god, please don’t say that. If my first year teaching is to a bunch of evil geniuses I don’t know if I’ll make it out alive. Nap time is my only solace.”
“I mean, I’d offer to help check, but that might be pushing some boundaries.” He laughed along with her. “Wow, those are some smart kids you have in your class. Little evil geniuses. They’re all going far in this world.”

“You’re cute! But I guess you have a point. I can just try pulling off the whole mermaid thing.”
“I mean, what’s wrong with glitter in your hair anyways? It’s cute!”

“I think I might be finding glitter in new places for at least two to three months at the very least,” she laughed, sighing at the end of it. “But they walked away with way less damage than me. In fact, I think it might have been their plan to dump it all on me. Some kind of first day initiation.”
“I think you might have some stuck in your part, but I’d say you did a pretty good job. How badly were the kids glittered?”

“Damn. Thank you,” she let out a soft laugh. “I really thought I got it all. But that’s life with kids --- I should start getting used to it now.”
“actually… you missed a pretty big patch. but, it’s okay. It looks pretty.” taeil chirped.

“So my lesson learned today is not to leave my kids unsupervised with glitter. Not even for a second. I... think I got most of it out of my hair? Mind giving me a second opinion on that?”
