“Harry Styles!” His name rang out clear through the city streets. He turned quickly back to the bar, startled by his own name and startled by the voice that called him. Standing in the doorway to the bar, back lit and glowing slightly was Louis. Not an eighteen year old apparition dressed in the same low slung blue jeans and t-shirt with swooping bangs that was always the image in his mind. No, he was Louis now.

or Ten years ago Harry dropped his best friend and high school boyfriend off at the train station and never saw him again. Now, he's twenty seven, living in NYC, and dreadfully unlucky in love. He can't stop wistfully thinking of Louis promising that they'd see each other again in ten years time. A chance meeting outside a bar has them tumbling head first into a summer of music, milkshakes, and maybe each other.

Zayn paused, his hand freezing as he was about to take a bite, his head snapping up to look at Louis. Louis could relate, it’s how he’d felt that morning after he’d woken up. He’d laid in bed for fifteen minutes trying to figure out what had happened, why it had turned him on so much, and then patiently waiting for his erection to go down. “Like… my Niall’s Harry? Harry Styles?” Zayn clarified, his face bewildered as if trying to comprehend what had just happened. “Do you even like Harry?” “His last name is Styles?”

or Louis woke up after having a sexy dream about his best friend’s boyfriend’s best friend resolved to never think about it again. He hardly knew Harry, so what difference would it make? But when they are thrown together only a few days later, Louis had to admit, his subconscious might have been onto something.

You know what, if larry isn’t real, I Wanna ask louis why he got the dagger tattoo that is perfectly complementary with Harry’s rose. its so ?? and its not like were making things up that its a matching one. He deadass got one and hets are like ok but L got an E tattoo which points to elk and i’m like uhm u serious it can also stand for edward so 👀

The dagger tattoo is perhaps the most significant of them all. Not because he got it, after a year, but because of the timing that he got it. November 2014 was one hell of a fucking ride. Looking at all the facts, it was one loud scream for freedom and a big fuck you to everyone keeping them in the closet. It was as loud as he could get. And it was necessary. 

A quick recap of the preceding events:

September 2013: Harry gets the rose, fans start speculating that Louis might get a dagger, but they get the anatomical heart and arrow. No dagger for a year.

….

30 October 2014: Apple CEO Tim Cook comes out as gay at which occasion the rainbow apple logo is revived by the papers. Interestingly the “not that important” and “don’t knock it til you try it” interviews are taped that same day. The fandom is still blissfully unaware though. 

3 November: The  “not that important” interview comes out - in short, asked which traits they find important in a girl, Liam says “female”, and Harry replies “not that important”. 

4 November: Harry’s statement is all over the papers and speculations become loud, everyone is asking: did he just come out as bisexual? Harry instagrams an armchair captioning “seated”. Might as well have said “where is the popcorn?”

5 November: Rainbow Direction launches the rainbow heart badges to show support to Harry’s “coming out” of sorts and create safe spaces for fans to discuss LGBTQ+issues - 22.000 people download them to their profiles that week - rainbow hearts are everywhere.

Later that same day, the live FOUR hangout is announced for Sunday Nov 9th and fans can send in their questions.

7 November: Louis shows up at the X factor rehearsal wearing a rainbow apple shirt. Considering context of the past week’s events, a LOT of people see that as support to Harry, and Tim Cook

9 November: The Independent’s Jenn Selby ’s article is published saying “Louis Tomlinson supports gay Apple CEO Tim Cook - days after Harry Styles’ comments on gender and sexuality” also referring to the fandom’s support for Harry with the rainbow hearts. This is how it’s featured on the front page:

That evening the FOUR hangout is broadcast and it’s the most akward interview ever. Rather than coming from fans, several of the questions seem to be set up to give Louis and Harry the opportunity to deny their rumoured sexuality/relationship . Except they don’t. (if you’re brave, watch 12 cringy long minutes from 8 to 20). Also, it’s November and it’s cold, but they are in their T shirts, matching tattoos out, and Louis keeps adjusting his boatneck “It is what it is”.  Also Liam asks “Have you read the article in the Independent?” Louis “No, is it good?” Liam “Yeah" 

10 November: We get papshots of Louis at the lawyer’s near Harry’s public house and he’s looking cheerful and therefore so are we, but that doesn’t last long. Late that afternoon shady agenda anons start imbuing the fandom with “it’s just the vintage apple logo” but we’re not having it. That evening, @Louis_Tomlinson tweets Jen Selby the same shit, but worse,it gets personal, it’s homophobic, it’s vicious and I’m not in a mood to recap or link it, may it disappear from the face of the earth. Interestingly a few minutes later followed by the more vague “Ridiculous I even have to tweet that shit” - some people think this is real Louis shading 1DHQ - we’ll never know - but I like to think so. 

11 November: Louis’ tweets to Selby get noticed and suddenly the story about that Independent article and @LT’s homophobic reaction is all over the place. Harry captions the following pic on his IG with “funny money”

14 November: Harry instagrams twice, one picture of a cracked wall saying “lovely view”, and another “no such green” which we think links to the funny money. 

15 November: The interview in which Harry says to Niall - “Don’t knock it til you try it” about sex with a man (also filmed 30 Oct) is aired. TMHFN/Rainbow Direction ask for an apology.

17 November: on Elounor’s anniversary, this appears on Jay’s Instagram

It’s is deleted minutes later and her twitter says it was a hack. 

Also, interestingly, Lottie tweets “no point in sorry when the damage is already done. some things can’t be forgiven”  

It’s a hectic few days, as while they are in Orlando, Zayn doesn’t show up for a gig, Harry serenades Louis, oh and news comes out that our beloved security guy/tour manager Paul quits. Supposedly something to do with Zayn. November 2014 was so wild on all levels. 

23 November: At the AMA’s Harry serenades Louis *again* and he also sits next to Louis’ parents. 

26 November: we see that Louis got the long anticipated dagger tattoo, a quote (given a chance), and a  second smiley xx) this time on his wrist

And in case we missed it, next shoot, he’s pointing right at it:

About Harry’s finsta: I’ve seen some information around, but I’d like to gather it and add what’s missing.

Harry’s username, previously colazione8, is now scottysakamoto. He probably changed due to the several people that tried to follow the account.

So I tried to figure out who the finnsta was following and the accounts I found: David Attenborough, Ladbible, thearchbish0pofbanterbury, pubity and memezar. Not sure if these have already been said but there we go!

Hi, Gina! Just wondering, do you know how Harry’s finsta was found?

I believe there were people in the fandom who knew about it last summer. A bunch of Harry’s friends, family, and colleagues follow it, so either some people put it together and guessed or there were some shady anons dropping the info because the stunt was being planned and they wanted to start seeding the idea that it existed. 

Then right before the Holivia stunt dropped there was an article in Vice (I think) about celebrity Finstas and they listed Harry’s. Which was really weird because there’s no way they could have known it was his unless it was confirmed by his team which means they wanted that information out there.

The account is i was talking about @purienne on IG! velvetcoke is just a 90’s/early 2000’s account! someone on a another harry discussion blog pointed out that his finsta follows purienne that's the blonde skinny model account so why would he follow it if he's gay and its in secret?

You know who else follows purienne? Zander, an openly gay man. Is he not gay anymore because he follows an esthetic IG account that posts insinuating pictures of women? No, of course not:

Is Hailey Bieber a lesbian because she follows this account? No, of course not.

Louis' makeup artist follows this account. Olivia's personal assistant follows this account. Manos, Columbia's head of digital follows this account. He worked on Harry's Fine Line campaign.

You know what other accounts Harry follows from his finsta? Close friends' accounts. He also follows a bunch of meme accounts, including best_of_grindr - a clearly gay account:

So excuse me, but basing someone's sexual orientation solely on one IG follow is crazy. I know plenty of gay men who appreciate the beauty of women and follow such accounts. I also know plenty of straight women who follow a bunch of insta models on IG - are we second guessing their sexual orientation for it? No.

There are so many reasons why he may follow this particular account. Maybe the owner is an industry friend, maybe it's an esthetic he likes, maybe it's the style of photography, maybe it's related to his gender exploration, maybe he appreciates the beauty of women, maybe it's his account, maybe it's a close friend's account, maybe it's for inspiration, maybe he saw a few pics he liked from them and followed then forgot about it, maybe it's....the list goes on and on.

To immediately conclude that he can't possibly be gay because he follows this account is so narrow minded and lacks any sort of critical thought. It also ignores the years and years of other instances where Harry has showed over and over again that his interest in women is not romantic or sexual. Or how he has showed over and over that his interest in men is romantic and sexual. It ignores several instances where he's shown how he identifies with gay men's culture.

Sexuality, and gender, are extremely complex. A single IG follow means very little when put into the context of what we've seen from Harry for the past 11 years.

now there's a rumored track listing that includes a song called Music For A Sushi Restaurant. Google that and you find this article about composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. If you have a good memory, that name might be familiar because I turned him up when I first looked into Harry's finsta's new name, scottysakamoto.

I'm still very skeptical of the rumored track list, but that's a funny coincidence...

Oh my gosh, India, so well said. If I am wrong about Larry (which I don’t think I am), I will be ok. The world will not stop turning for me. It will not break me. It comes down to if I’m wrong, I saw love where there wasn’t. And it’s ok with me to want there to be more love in this frightening world. Antis wanna make fun of that, because I made the mistake of believing there was more love in the world?

That’s ok. I’m gonna keep looking for more love.

Exactly this. I’m not threatened by looking foolish, because at the end of the day, I saw love and I spent my time supporting it. And, if it turns out I was wrong, then I was wrong. But there’s no loss in that.

I say this all the time: Larry is not a point of pride for me. It’s literally a personal observation, and I personally don’t understand why that observation should be threatening to anyone considering I have no intentions of convincing anyone to believe me. I have no skin in the game.

At the end of the day, I would rather be part of the ‘foolish’ group of people that chose to see a love that ‘wasn’t there’ than have spent my time harassing people into believing ‘the truth’.

I’d rather be kind than be right.
