It sure is a great day to accidentally hurt my own feelings by thinking about how things would’ve ended up differently for Otto if Rosie had survived.

Last night the ten billionth post on r/spiderman calling MJ a whore popped up, and it led to some interesting arguments. Here's my contribution:
Tumblr media
...and I really like the idea that "MJ is a morality test." One of Peter's first lines in the movie is that the story is actually about her, and it is. All other characters in the movie are judged on how they treat her. It's not for nothing that Norman is seen to be specifically misogynist towards MJ, and Eddie too. In the Raimi universe, intentionally or not, gendered violence is what marks someone out as irredeemable. MJ is a hard woman to love, she very much does cheat on Peter, but the movie makes clear over and over that attacking her in any way is still completely and utterly wrong. I find Sam Raimi's treatment of the women of the Raimiverse so damn fascinating.
I also want to highlight this comment:
Tumblr media
A great gem to find in the utter cesspit that is Reddit.
What wouldn't I give for respectful Mary Jane discussion that doesn't involve the word "whore", man.

2009 'Spider-Sense' Spider-Man Activity Book with stickers
This one has used pages and missing stickers. I specifically remember growing up with the Spider-Sense branding and still have a magnet puzzle on my fridge featuring Scott Johnson's art.

2007 Spider-Man Big Doodle Pad with velvet doodle pages
Any of you remember when those black velvet coloring pages were a thing? Like this board and you colored in the flat white part with markers. I don't really see those anymore. At least scratch art pages are still a thing. (Please note this book is missing 1 velvet page.)

2006 Spider-Man Activity Book with stickers, pull-out poster and growth chart from Bendon Publishing International

This was a gift from a friend who found them lying around, along with 2 other coloring books of the same era, this being the only complete and unused one. It's great luck, even the posters are here. Scott Johnson's art really takes me back!

1995 Marvel Masterpieces Spider-Man #92 Base Card Nelson
This is from series 4, each character got 3 different cards with their own respective art. I just really love this illustration of Peter donning the mask, its a bit different to the usual pin-up work you'd see. The dark and intense shadows just give this piece such a cool atmosphere. I'd love to have this in my collection someday!

Absolutely nothing brings me more joy than finding high quality images of the actuators, so I figured I'd share these ones I found today!
I believe this is the same statue from this photo and this photo, judging by the swapped top and bottom claw. My guess is at some kind of exhibition, although when and where I could not tell you. I'm 90% confident it's not at a Spider-Man specific event, judging by the background items.

Tobey cried the way we cry, and I stan that. I sure as hell don't look cute when I'm miserable.
everyone makes fun of they way tobey cried but so many actors have this single stream of tears while they look stoically into the distance but peter parker UGLY cried and tbh relatable
