BTS - WINGS ; Jungkook as The Crying Boy

There’s already been some talk about the story of The Crying Boy floating around. As the painting in WINGS appears to be crying, and simple search of ‘crying painting’ will reveal the mysterious painting.

It was created and widely distributed in the 1950′s but the painting wasn’t a major topic until September 5th, 1985. From that date onwards, a series of house fires had garnered the attention of the public, all which contained this painting. The reason that this was so strange is because everything within the house was completely burned down, except for this painting.

With years to come, they had recorded 40-50 different cases of houses burning down, and each case showed that this painting was still completely intact although the houses were destroyed. This led this to be called the Curse of the Crying Boy.

September 5th was the day that a British newspaper first reported that a firefighter had claimed that undamaged copies of the paintings were found within the ruins of house fires, the same day that BTS posted WINGS.

The story actually gets even more interesting, and very close to both the WINGS and I Need U and/or HYYH.

“It is said that the curse will only affect someone if the owner of the painting becomes aware of it. Some psychics have claimed that the painting is Haunted by the spirit of the boy it depicts.”

After digging around, I found out that the artist created the Crying Boy, had painted the portrait from a orphan. The artist’s studio later burned down, and the orphan later died from a car accident.

I just read the lyrics to So Far Away and I full on, properly cried. If anyone could put into words how I have felt these past few months, it’s exactly this:

So its much cheaper to purchase from Kpoptown than BTS official shop. Its because Kpoptown has an option for Registered mail shipping while BTS official only has EMS shipping option. I tried if I ordered 3 in BTS OS and found that EMS fee will be less if you ordered more..so maybe its good for group order. But if you're buying 1 item only..Kpoptown is a better option. Its 35% cheaper so Im ordering from Kpoptown for now. Ive been ordering from them since 2012 and all the goods comes on time and the packaging is always good & safe.

안녕하세요. 빅히트 엔터테인먼트입니다.빅히트 엔터테인먼트와 방탄소년단은 2015년 말부터 방탄소년단 가사 내 여성혐오 논란이 있음을 인지하고, 가사를 다시 검토한 결과 내용 중 일부가 창작 의도와는 관계없이 여성 비하에 대한 오해의 소지가 있을 수 있고, 그로 인해 많은 분들에게 불편함을 야기할 수 있다는 점을 알게 되었습니다. 또한 방탄소년단이 데뷔 전에 SNS에 올린 내용 중 일부가 여성들에게 불쾌한 콘텐츠일 수 있다는 것도 자체적으로 확인했습니다. 이에 대해 빅히트 엔터테인먼트와 방탄소년단은 함께 오랜 시간 많은 고민을 하였으나, 그동안 공식적인 입장을 표명하지 않았던 이유는 가장 적절한 시기에 올바른 방법을 통해 정확한 내용으로 진심 어린 피드백을 드리��� 위해서였습니다.

BigHit Entertainment and BTS acknowledge that since the end of 2015 there has been a controversy regarding misogynistic content in BTS’ song lyrics, and after reviewing the lyrics once more, we found that a part of the content, though not intended during production, could be misunderstood as degrading toward women, and we came to understand that this issue could lead to much discomfort (offense) to many people. Also, we personally confirm that a part of the content posted on SNS by BTS before their debut could be offensive (content) toward women. BigHit Entertainment and BTS have together worried (mulled) over this issue for a long time, however, the reason why we did not take an official stance on this issue until now is because we wanted to give sincere feedback with accurate details at the most appropriate time and through the proper method.

As an idol group that continues to create popular cultural trends, we are aware that BTS and its members’ comments, actions, etc. can have a large influence on many people and the society. T/N: last sentence - When they said they will “work even harder…” in Korean it’s a little more of a deeper meaning in my opinion. They say they will assume a hard working position, so not only are they “working harder” to accomplish something, but they will assume a better, more open attitude to listening to the people around them and to fix their flaws.

T/N: I realized about 2/3 of the way through that this has been translated on other websites (namely allkpop) and my translation is REALLY similar to theirs but I honestly didn’t use them for reference/quote them, so even if some sentences are the exact same, please don’t tell me I’m stealing translations because I did not.
