My love for darts
I can clearly remember the first time I was watching darts a couple of years ago. I thought it was really enjoyable to watch and I knew that there is a lot of training involved to achieve this level of darts, but how difficult is it actually? After that I decided to try it out myself and it was surprisingly hard to even throw a simple 20 points. That was the turning point where I began to appreciate the professionals much more and I started to watch most of the big darts events. Every year around Christmas, there is the biggest darts event of the year: The PDC World Darts Championship. This is the most exciting and longest event in darts. We gather with my family and watch all the games together. My favourite is someone that not many people love: Gerwyn Price.
His enthusiastic way of playing the game and his energy is what made him my favourite a couple of years ago. Initially he wasn’t the most successful darts player, but he managed to win the World Championship in 2020 which I was incredibly happy for. He isn’t the most liked player due to his short temper, but he really improved as a person in the past years and people respect him more and more, especially after his hard fought WC victory.
One more person that I really like is Dimitri Van den Bergh, who’s personality and exceptional skills really stood out to me. I would consider him my 2nd favourite and he has a bright future ahead of him, which I’m excited to be able to follow. There is one big tournament going on right now called ‘The Premier League’, but for some reason I don’t feel the same excitement whilst watching these games. This might be because Price has to miss the tournament, due to sickness. I’m excited to see him on the stage again stronger than ever.
Overall I really recommend everyone to start watching darts, because it is a fast-paced, exciting and really fun sport to watch, that you can enjoy with friends and family too.

The 0.1 per cent: How eSports pros make a career playing video games
Article: https://globalnews.ca/news/4420706/esports-starcraft-lol-pro-gamer-dota/
I’ve always loved video games. When I was a kid, I used to play games all day long until my parents told me to get off of it. But as I grew up I started to play more competitive games and came to the question: “Should I become a professional?”
Many eSports player’s answer to that was a “yes” and they can compete with each other for millions of $USD. But what does it take to be at this high level of gaming? According to this article and former StarCraft professional Guillaume Patry it takes a lot to get to the top 0.1%.
ESports tournaments have awarded a staggering US$500 million since 1998 to professional gamers. The sport has grown immensely and Patry explains with his own example, how much the gaming scene has grown throughout the years.
He was 18 when he decided to try himself in South Korea, because in North America StarCraft wasn’t a huge thing at the time, meanwhile in South Korea there were 3 TV channels dedicated to StarCraft. There were also news about the game and people treated it like a regular sport. Patry quickly became a professional and won the StarCraft world championship in his first year. Throughout his 3 year long career, he made US$62,965.
Currently eSports players can earn up to US$2 million for winning a big tournament and they are treated as professional athletes with salary even when there are no tournaments. Top North American League of Legends players make an average salary of US$320.000, according to Riot Games.
This huge change in money was possible thanks to the nature of video games. People watch professionals for their own entertainment and they can learn some new skills in the mean time. This isn’t realistically possible with sports like Football or Basketball, because those things are much harder to execute in real life.
Patry also says that age means a lot in professional gaming. Even a couple of years can make the difference in speed, so the younger you start, the more likely it is that you can become a professional. Also, unlike other sports, in eSports the game changes constantly, so you always need to adapt. “It’s not something you should give up education or your job for,” says Patry to those who want to be a part of the top 0.1% club.
At the end of the day, you need serious dedication and determination to become one of the best at a video game. The risk is not always worth it, but thanks to options like Twitch streaming and smaller tournaments, you don’t have to sacrifice education or personal life to earn money whilst gaming at a high level.

My favourite musician
I’ve always been of fan of music. I remember when I was around 10 years old and my younger sister used to show me what she was listening to and I loved it. Electro, rap, dubstep and so many more that has really shaped my taste in music. The biggest outbreak for me was a man called Skrillex who’s weirdly satisfying aggressive dubstep songs have caught my attention. I was listening to him every single day, until I got into Middle School, where I have been introduced to many new people with very different tastes in music. One of my friends showed me a song which had the artist: ‘G-Eazy’ in it. I loved his voice and his flow so I looked him up and listened to many of his other works. His massive hit, “I mean it” was the first song that I couldn’t get rid of for weeks. After that I binge-listened every album of his. I knew many-many of his songs from my head, had hundreds saved on my phone and I couldn’t get bored of him. He influenced me so much that my first tattoo is the name of my favorite album from him. My first ever big festival experience was all because of him too, where he was one of the main stage performers and it was the best experience of my life. Obviously after years of mostly listening to him I got a bit bored, especially that the quality of his music took a negative turn in recent years. I still listen to him every once in a while, but he lost his charm, especially that I know most of his songs. I listened to many-many other artists whilst listening to him, but he is and will forever be the rapper who managed to change who I am and I will forever consider him my favourite.
I will also mention a couple of my favourite rappers nowadays: Logic, Joyner Lucas, Eminem and NF, but there are lots of others whom I listen to.

Me and Video Games
I have been interested in video games since I was around 3 years old. We have pictures of me sitting before the computer whilst playing some educational kids’ games. Throughout the years I have been wanting a PC, but until I was 12 years old, I didn’t have anything to play on. Then I got my first laptop and I was as happy as ever.
The game that I put thousands of hours into at first was Counter-Strike 1.6. After school all I did was play this game, whilst being in a Skype call with my best friends. Those were the good days. Eventually our lives have seperated, because we all got into High School, so I started to play other games as well. One in particular stuck with me until this day: League of Legends.
7 years have passed since I started playing this game and I’m still unable to get bored of it. Sure, it can make me furious at times, but the satisfaction of winning a hard-fought game is unexplicable. The amounts of mechanical depth the game has is incredible and you can learn something new about it in every game. Even if you are at the highest level of skill, you will learn something new constantly.
To not only talk about League, I would also mention a couple of my favourite games of all time: DOOM Series, Devil May Cry 5, Far Cry 3, Portal 2, GTA 4 and CS:GO. These are the ones that I have enjoyed the most and I’m still playing CS:GO with my friends on a daily basis. I have recently gotten into The Witcher 3 and so far I’ve been really enjoying it. DMC 5 is the single-player game that I don’t think I will ever get bored of.

Neymar’s Pain
Original article: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/14/the-pain-is-immense-neymar-to-miss-reunion-with-barcelona-and-messi
Neymar and Messi have a long history together. Messi was the one who accepted Neymar first when he joined FC Barcelona in 2013. They have been close friends ever since, but since Neymar left the team to PSG in 2017, they haven’t been able to meet on the field yet. The two teams will finally meet in the UCL last 16 stage, but Neymar sadly picked up an injury against Caen a couple of days ago. He will miss both the games against Barcelona and he feels sorrow and pain because he will not be able to play against his best friend and against his former club.
Neymar is incredibly angry towards those, who say that he is a ‘cry-baby’ and said that he doesn’t know how much longer he can take these types of comments. All he wants to do is enjoy football and that’s it. These comments occured, because he has a history of missing these Champions League games throughout the years, thanks to his sister’s birthday parties, which he attends this time every year. He has hinted in his interview towards a potential reunion between him and Messi in PSG, but the Argentine still has half a year to decide where he will go in the summer as his contract will expire. Maybe they will meet in PSG, but no one knows how and where these two might meet in the future.
