I think a lot about how in Ice Age 1 a huge theme is the slow but unstoppable advancement of the human species as they start to threaten previously unchallenged megafauna (hunting the pack of the antagonist sabertooth and killing Manny the mammoth’s family) and then in all the sequels they just fuckin disappear

hardison telling eliot he doesn't like seeing him get hurt actually goes SO hard because???? that might be???? the first time ever??? that eliot hears this???
it's such a true profession of love for them specifically, who always bicker about whose job is harder and about what eliot went through during a con. and it's a walls-down, sincere effort on hardison's part to - just once - tell eliot that seeing him get beat on gets to him on a very real level.

This may seem like an exaggeration, the idea that one can learn how to properly think like a criminal by learning how crime stories work. On a personal note, let me tell a story from the Leverage writer’s room.
Apollo Robbins (http://www.istealstuff.com/) runs a crew of professional thieves who consult for law enforcement. He was also our criminal consultant on Leverage. Every few weeks he would visit the writer’s room to advise on the scripts and keep us up to date about new cons and the latest in criminal technology.
One day during the third season he sat in with the writers while we broke a story. We posted the details of a real-life white collar criminal up on the room’s whiteboard, using him as the basis for our Mark. We looked at his weaknesses, how he moved his money, what his hobbies were. Once we were happy with that element of the story we added a Vault to the mix, one that used an interesting new alarm technology we’d researched. We then spent about an hour figuring out how to circumvent that alarm. We even sketched out a map of the imaginary building so we could keep track of our Crew’s movements during the Job.
“Well, I’m done here,” Apollo muttered. Noting our confusion, he pointed at the board and index cards cluttering the wall. “This is exactly how real Crews plan these things. This writer’s room is now a fully functioning criminal gang. You could be thieves.”
Of course writing television pays better than crime (usually), with far less chance of being arrested (usually), so we all managed to resist the temptation. But aside from the day a US Attorney asked us to change a plot because we’d created a scam that was a little too foolproof, or when a Homeland Security Agent admitted they were spooked by a security hole we’d exploited in our season finale, it was certainly one of the proudest moments I had on the show.

I like how leverage has a genius character and an autistic character but the autistic character isn't the genius character. the genius is a 22 year old black man with adhd who becomes an expert in anything you give him within 24 hours and the autistic character is a white woman who jumps off buildings for fun and once stabbed a man with a fork because he encroached on her personal space and sense of moral conduct

Just saw a tag someone reblogged with and I...
Do y'all think the DPxDC fandom is dead? Dying?
How do you miss a fandom that is still here?
Y'all do understand that fandoms only die when people stop interacting with them, right?
And, I'll admit, I haven't been seeing as many round robins and prompt fills lately as there was a year or so ago. And that's been a bit sad. But, fuck, life is hard; from what I can tell, many of us are adults; we're living through some pretty major events right now; and sometimes interest and hyperfixations come and go. Can't fault anyone for not being here and interacting as much as before.
Besides, for every username I feel like I haven't seen in a while, I've seen 2 or 3 new (or new to me) names pop up and start posting and reblogging quite a bit. I think we're hardly dead if there are still people to discover still posting.
I don't know, it just... feels dismissive I guess. I'm still here at least. Still reaching out. Been reblogging a lot of stuff lately from myself, hoping something'll reach someone new who wants to add on and keep it going. Cause that's always been my favorite part of this fandom. The back and forths and round robins. Bouncing ideas around and building something new out of the old blocks.
You don't gotta miss it. I'm still here and I know some other folks are too and all those old blocks, the prompts and headcanons and aus and round robins. S'all still here, just waiting for people to come and play with us.

I think it would be funny if Bruce found out about Danny Phantom-style ghosts and immediately started reading the leading scientific research on the topic, which of course comes from the Doctors Fenton. So he's got like, a basis of knowledge, and decides to bring in a magic expert. He asks Constantine what he knows about ectoplasm and the Ghost Zone, and Constantine just groans. He can tell you've been reading materials by those Fenton quacks, Bruce. It's called the Infinite Realms you dolt. "Ghost Zone" isn't just inaccurate it's borderline offensive. If you want to call the un-matter of the Infinite Realms "ectoplasm" then sure, go ahead, see how many ghosts want to talk to you. Don't internalize that dehumanizing slop.
So Bruce mentally notes all of that down, and when he finally meets a ghost he makes sure to use the right terminology for the Infinite Realms, and Danny is like, "haha, you mean the Ghost Zone?"
Constantine receives a very passive aggressive email.

to be honest there has never been a fictional character i’ve actually wanted to date. like. i want them to date each other. i don’t want myself as a person to be involved in this scenario whatsoever. what would i add to this narratively? what’s my thematic purpose in the narrative? immersion breaking.

Praying they bring back the gag of Stephanie using ridiculous combo batarangs because Barbara hooked her up with a custom batarang maker and foolishly assumed she wouldn't abuse this power. Everyone's a gangster until they take a 'fire and scorpions-erang' to the face.
