Paddy shifted in the chair, glancing around looking visibly uncomfortable. He ran his fingers through his short beard, pursing his lips in thought. The garish set with it's vivid pink armchair and painted statues were a contrast to the scruffy Irishman in his simple plain white tee.

'I was intrigued I guess ' he eventually spoke softly 'intrigued to see whether you could find some poor soul for an undateable like me.' he barked a short laugh, shifting forwards in his chair, wringing his hands together in his lap. Looking back up into the camera he continued, 'I've never really dated anyone. Man or woman. Never been in love. Only came out recently, knew for a while but struggled to accept it. Don't even really know any gays' he laughed coarsely, fixing the camera with his blue eyes. 'so yeah, guess I was intrigued. Intrigued by the promise of love.'

'And what is it that you are looking for in a boyfriend?' the invisible interviewer prompted. 'whats your type?'

Paddy lent back, biting his lip as he contemplated the question before abruptly barking another laugh, 'anyone that will put up with my shit!'. He fidgeting, running his hands through his hair, pausing with them behind his head, impressive biceps on display. Then the laughter left his face. 'i don't know what my type is' he said quietly 'I don't know if I have a type. I'm not really a people person.' He paused, chewing his lip again 'But that doesn't mean I don't want somebody to love. I'm just hoping I recognise love when I find it.'

I've never written a fanfic before. Can't decide whether a mash up of SAS rogue heroes and I kissed a boy is a stroke of genius or a sign of insanity.... might do it either way as it's stuck in my head now. Can you imagine paddy on a reality TV show??!!

Oh God, he was in love fr. ‘Perhaps unusually’ I’m terribly sorry, author, but the theme is crystal clear, as are its roots. Homer? Whisked away by a ‘bad news’ typa guy who promises a life of adventure? Tired of poetic allusions and wishing someone would take action? My, what a mystery, indeed.
