Regarding last paragraph, I love the Ruby Blake platonic dynamic. Even though Weiss is Ruby's partner, I always see Blake as a better second in command.
Seeing people pull the "they're like sisters" or "they're like brothers" card to shut down gay ships makes me so upset. If the creator doesn't do it, the distributor or side material does as a means of censorship. And even if it's completely absent from the text, members of the fandom still plaster them with that label.
Then they'll try to paint you as problematic for shipping "sibling coded" (??) characters, or feign upset at "erasure of friendship" when they don't have the same energy for friendships between a woman and a man.

The fact that it took Ruby and Yang one day to corrupt Blake into torturing Weiss will never not be funny
#of course there's the argument that Blake didn’t need to be corrupted and in fact would have shit on Weiss regardless#i have no doubt she would have but i believe that seeing the methods Yang and Ruby employeed let Blake do it more subtly

I firmly believe that Yang steals Tai's clothes and actually prefers them. It's just for combat clothes she wears different
I want to see Yang wear the hawaiian dad polo shirt she wears in the comics and blake in one of her cute kimonos when they visit menagerie
Yang "husband lesbian" Xiao Long and her wife princess Blake Belladonna visiting the in-laws? On their honeymoon? Both? Sign me up! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

ya know what... I'ma say it. I think it's really gross how a lot of LiS fangirls didn't care about LiS2 until they found out Sean was bi and that they could obsess over his relationship with Finn.
There's been a very noticable increase in how many ppl post on the LiS2 tag. And honestly it would be great that people supported Sean being bi, if it wasn't such a shame that so many people didn't care about the story of Sean and Daniel, and even trashed the game for dealing with the topic of racism.
I remember when the game first came out so many people hated that the game chose to focus on the story of their brotherhood and many ppl undermined the importance of POC representation simply due to the fact that the characters were male. But the moment LiS fangirls found out they could have romantic scenes between two guys, they came rushing to the LiS2 tags because they finally had their mlm relationship to fetishize.
when characters of color are only cared about when it comes to who you can ship them with... it's kinda gross. As a POC myslef I've noticed this happens very often in fandoms. Hardly ever do people care about non white characters if the aspect of romance is not involved.
I'm sure other POC can relate to what I'm talking about.

ok im going to #seriouspost for a second here. I don't think Harry Potter is a manifesto. I think it was a flawed passion project that millennials latched onto because of the fantasy of sticking it to their mean teachers and arbitrarily categorizing themselves (hogwarts houses; it's the thinking millennial's astrology). I think the fact that the series got popular when and how it did was very much a product of its time.
I don't think Harry Potter is the biggest symbol of JKR's bigotry. I think the most flagrant sign of that was how she responded to critics. I watched her become radicalized in real time. I watched how she doubled down on her racism when she was called out for the ways she promoted her tragically mid fantastic beasts movies. I watched her chase marginalized teenagers with a double digit follower count off of twitter for daring to criticize her thought process, and no one with any kind of power standing against her because she was the one who was paying them. This isn't to say Harry Potter is without flaws. This is to say she really didn't give a shit about that. Getting rich and powerful is a hell of a drug, and she had enough sycophants that she had no reason to care about what her critics were saying.
She was convinced that she was a martyr; a voice for the unheard; a leader for the ages, so of course her detractors were the bad guys. And I think we should take this to heart. We should see this as an example of how easy it is to get radicalized; if you think of yourself as a paragon of virtue, you are going to think that whatever you see as good and right is an objective fact. Most people don't know this, but the majority of terfs start out as trans allies. You are not immune to propaganda! You are not immune to falling into dangerous ideologies!!!
This is why the most important thing you can do as an activist is to listen. Do NOT think you're above being wrong; do NOT develop a god complex; do NOT form an identity out of being right all the time. Involve yourselves in the groups you claim to speak for. Listen to trans women; share resources that help trans women; familiarize yourself with the diversity of experiences that trans people have and the struggles they face.
No, none of you are as bad as JKR because you don't have her money or her power. You will likely never have the capacity for harm she does. But check yourselves. Do not affirm yourselves into thinking you always have the moral high ground. Watch yourselves; humble yourselves; check yourselves for signs of cult behavior and internalized prejudice. You are always learning. You will always be learning. Do not allow yourselves to get a power trip from brushing off marginalized voices.

I think with specifically team RWBY it's an intentional misinterpretation of the facts. Team RWBY IS a sisterhood, but in the sense that a convent or coven is. They don't actually see each other as specifically sisters, they just view each other as family. People have taken the idea of them being a "sisterhood" literally to further arguments against the ships that exist within the team. It's ridiculous. Team JNR is a family as well, yet Ren and Nora are never labeled as "ruining a sibling relationship." Hell, I guarantee that if Ren and Nora were actually completely platonic and only saw each other as siblings, these same people denouncing ships among Team RWBY would wave it off, saying that they'll figure it out.
Seeing people pull the "they're like sisters" or "they're like brothers" card to shut down gay ships makes me so upset. If the creator doesn't do it, the distributor or side material does as a means of censorship. And even if it's completely absent from the text, members of the fandom still plaster them with that label.
