I am a Midwest USA-based artist and mother who has done a little bit of everything, including science. Currently, I am most active in costuming and collaborating with my husband to design and produce performance jewelry for American Tribal Style (ATS) Belly Dancing. Attempts to get me out of the kitchen have been largely unsuccessful, unless you count smoking meat in the backyard as “out of the kitchen.” (Apparently you can take the girl out of the Texas panhandle, but a little bit of that dust and mesquite smoke always sticks.) I dabble in making my own bitters and liqueurs, and experiments in fermentation are ongoing. Not to mention putting dinner on the table most nights. Neither Christian nor atheist, I find the philosophies of Sir Terry Pratchett* to be most helpful in navigating day-to-day life. You can never go wrong listening to the Grannies, but the important thing to remember is, “If you don't turn your life into a story, you just become a part of someone else's story.” ** Admittedly, as a descendant of both Irish immigrants and American Southerners, my story is always going to be part of a large and deeply interconnected family web. This is purely a stuff-I-like blog, and I am not the most advanced tumblr user. Things I like include feminism, Star Wars, in-depth media analysis, pretty dresses, popular witchcraft, Thor, and herbalism. Or whatever else catches my eye. Surprise! Tumblr just got turned into an epic fantasy RPG, just like [your favorite appropriate media franchise]. And the Tumblr RPG's plot needs to have all of its characters covered, in roles both large and small.
That means that you are assigned to a stereotypical RPG role inside our new fantasy world. Spin this wheel to find out what you are now doing for a living.

If public nudity was considered normal and not an issue (legally or otherwise,) would you go outside naked a lot?

To anyone wondering if it's worth it to tear down fascist posters or whatever. I spent a few months last year engaged in silent battle with another student at my school who was putting anti trans stickers up everywhere. I had it down to a system where every night I would walk the five block radius they went up in, and tear down all the ones I could reach, and use a stick to put duct tape over the others. Like, within hours of the stickers going up, I would have already purged the whole zone. I knew the basic schedule of whoever put them up based on when and where the stickers appeared. I probably could have found them in person if I'd wanted to. And I told all my classmates and friends what the stickers looked like and got them to rip them down too. And after a few months of this, the stickers slowed, and then stopped forever.
My point is, a lot of this fashy or right wing stuff is one local weirdo. And if you pay attention, and do a little light organizing with your friends, you can basically make their efforts into a giant sisyphisean exercise in misery. You control your streets!

Murderbot, a construct that was built and used to do extreme violence it's entire existence : I hate talking to people but I will try to resolve this situation peacefully if I can, threats only make people panic and then they take irrational decisions. Extreme violence is sometimes unavoidable but last resort.
ART, a peaceful research transportation : I love talking to people because I can threaten them with extreme violence right off the bat and it makes them do what I want (ads more totally-not-weapons to it's research equipment)
