His silence was telling. The wolf was passionate about few things that didn't have to do with her feral nature, but she couldn't rightfully stand by while a child was in danger. And remained in danger because they refused to see how deep in the midst they were. Which was nothing short of baffling for the canine. The boy would rather sit there, and bleed than leave, holding on to some hope his father would what...come around?
"I can manage." She was stronger than she looked, at least in her current form. He likely wouldn't be too heavy if she was in her human form either, and while she was hesitant to show that side of her this was undoubtedly a case where it was almost a necessity.
But it seemed it wouldn't be that easy. He was determined to stay for some ungodly reason. And the wolf didn't want to be there when the other's father woke up. If they could do this to their own son, who knew what they would do to a talking wolf.
"...Half an hour. No more, and no less. After that I'm taking you out of here. I don't care what you say. In the meantime at least let me look at it." Her eyes went to his leg, then back to meet his gaze.
He's run out of excuses for Clay , he well and truly has , he doesn't even flinch as she steps closer . Receiving that in his own mind . He trusted a wild animal more so than his own father .
Staring into the floor , one that he couldn't see , not even grass nor mud , it was all shrouded in darkness . The moonbeams only seem to paint the trunks of the trees . Dimly lighting up is eyes , as sunken and exhausted as they are . He doesn't answer any of her presses . He didn't know how - or he was afraid to accept the answers himself . No , no and no .
I...could carry you.
Orel shuck his head , hopeless , for once . I'm too heavy . ❞
He had managed to stumble here and doubts he could go any further , even using the other are a crutch .
❝ Where would we go ? I need - I think we really do need to just hold out and pray that Dad sobers up soon . ❞
Orel was patient even in this moment he could wait . He shouldn't have to . It's not to say it wouldn't be difficult .

It was an odd gift, but the wolf could still see some merit in it. It was thoughtful, and that's what usually counted right? She wouldn't know, she didn't give gifts often except to the old witch in the forest she frequented, and that was mostly out of respect and very little more. Nothing but small trinkets she found during her travels but the witch seemed to like them.
Satisfied once Harmony had attended to her wings, the wolf kept sniffing about. Perhaps the first time she had used her nose for something other than hunting or idle information. Oddly enough, it wasn't her sense of smell that caught on to something first.
It was the small 'tink' of a claw that made her backtrack a little before digging her paws into the mud a little.
Her nose would do the rest of the work, leaving it caked with mud but also revealing a metal surface. "Think this is it? Or do you think there's more than one metal box lying around?"
Between both noses, one was bound to pick up the item they sought. Although the scent of the rotting wood and moss muddled things, Harmony was happy to have company during the search. Her tail said as much, wagging as she hopped from spot to spot.
"I don't think it'll blow up, but Dad said 's got some old trail maps in it. One o' the older lookouts is retirin', and he wants t' get the map framed for him." It may have been a little unorthodox of a present to give someone, but to those who kept the village safe, it meant a lot.
The next comment made the teen lift her head and look over her shoulder. With a sheepish grin, her tail wagged just a little harder.
"Ya know... I keep forgettin' those are there." She folded them a bit closer to her body and returned to searching. "At least my paw pads can take it."

Very few could take on the creature in question. The fact the wolf had even scared it off was a miracle. The fact she was alive should have been the thing of legends.
"Good. What the hell were you doing all the way out here, anyway?"
❝ i could have taken the river bear. ❞ he murmured, though he knew damn well that he couldn't take the animal -- it would definitely maul him easily. he arched a brow at her words and inhaled deeply, nodding his head. ❝ yeah, i can do that. ❞

Mari was an odd human. She had the power of what was essentially a Beast, something many coveted in Tala's world, and yet she chose to work alongside them. As a team, friends even. Part of the wolf couldn't help but find that respectful, and yet another part found her to be a bit of a fool.
"If you say so. But I would be careful. Red would fetch a hefty price if he ends up in the wrong hands. And those same hands wouldn't be against using you as bait."
"I'M NO BULLY." MARI REPLIES STERNLY. "And I certainly don't use my monsties as a shield." If anything, it was the opposite. Mari was the protector and the family guide. She provided instruction, coordination, dexterity and resolve—and not to mention, a little muscle when it was needed.
And thus far, history has shown that dangerous minds coveted Ratha's power rather than feared it. There were times Mari knew to play it smart and lay low—particularly when it came to her companions' sakes.

Tala couldn't honestly say which she preferred, humans or Beasts. They each had their flaws, glaring in some respects, but there were good parts to them. It was one thing she had in common with the one before her. She enjoyed what humans had to offer in terms of music, in that odd comradery one could find at the taverns and certain gatherings. Alcohol was something the wolf was familiar with, but it had never affected her quite the way it seemed to take humans, and at times she would say that was when they were at their most entertaining.
Beasts were different. Wild in most respects, and things were either a competition or done to satisfy some carnal urges in those settings. Rarely were they just for fun unless one found themselves in the older regions. There was still an air of respect, of pride at being who one was, in those areas. Tala had a love-hate relationship with those parts.
"I can't argue with that, won't even bother. I can't say if there's more or less to it in my case. I've...never had a real explanation for what I am. Half the time I'm convinced I don't belong anywhere. And maybe that's for the best." She could tell the other was nothing like her, despite some similarities. And not just in what they were, what they could do. There was something else there, her instincts could pick up on it but she knew better than to question something that was most likely sensitive. Moreover, it was none of her business. Regardless of the title the other had just given the two of them.
In fact, Tala snorted. A sound half amused, and half incredulous.
"I don't typically have friends, and you hardly know the first thing about me. How do you know I won't stab you in the back, or just sell you to the highest bidder the moment I need some spare change?"
ALINA WASN’T SURE IF SHE WAS a people person herself… it was a finicky ordeal - humanity. she loved to bother them, loved to be chaos. she loved their music and their dancing and their stupid, wild habits. they could be engaging and clever, make her laugh or joyful. however, they could be CRUEL, treacherous beings. destructive and poisonous to others and their surroundings. though such facts were her saving grace; because when those types existed, she could have a meal without having to take on a conscious. a part of her e n v i e d her mother in that regard. kasmira never felt regret nor concern. the demon queen merely lived for thrill and joy. alina? well, it was hard to make her hurt over a mistake, but she still had the capabilities.
admittedly it was a fear of feeling those sensations again that kept her in line more often than she would have been otherwise. that recollection of everything she had felt when she had murdered eden. if that hadn’t have occurred, maybe her bloodied hands would have been all the more crimson, and her smile all the more sardonic. but life had thrown the wrench into her machinery, and now she carried herself stiffer than she would have otherwise… it annoyed her mother, of course, who simply wanted alina to unleash herself.
“yeah yeah, shifter’s a generic term, not a specific species, yatta yatta. still, it’s… something. the sort of something that most people can’t say they have in c o m m o n with another.” for all her years, she rarely came across others of the supernatural variety. rarely felt the ties that bound her to strangers filled with magic and energy and inhumanness.
low hum, leaning forward. “except i want to be an annoyance in a random, non-gathering place… something most people don’t look for in friends. or at least i don’t imagine. unless you’re INTO that in your friends which… i won’t judge. though i guess it would turn this whole ordeal into more of a friend scenario. interesting way to have started a friendship, me wondering if you’re a knock off werewolf. what a story... on second thought, we're going to be best buds now.”

"Supplies. Weapons. Anything that you might need to, I don't know? Survive what the hell is happening out there." There was no way he was that dense, surely. At the very least she figured weapons were the obvious thing to get. They could defend themselves. They could fight back.
ben watched her and tilted his head. ❝ look around for what? scavenge for what? ❞ he questioned, still unsure of what was going on in the first place. he even looked outside and still, he's not sure what's going on and there was no one that knew the answer to that.

Just a small heads up, I might move Tala, Rya (tentaplenty), and Phineas (fabulousflynn) to a multimuse account. Mostly because I can't keep up with the account switching when I'm on other devices, and there might be more muses I want to add to my collection :)
My Sonic muses will stay on their own blogs because my main boy (emeraldtied) is just way too AU at this point and my other two (dyadhogs) might be heading in the same-ish direction.

24.) What might your character’s ideal romantic partner be?
Oh boy. She has no real interest in romance at the moment. It's literally the last thing on her mind in any shape or form.
If she was thinking about it? She would need someone who doesn't tie her down, who accepts her and what she is. They would need to respect nature and, most likely, be a Beast of some sort. Humans still make her uncomfortable in a variety of ways.

The ocean part the canine knew all too well. Except for their boats and giant ships, humans did seem to avoid the ocean. At least those with any reasonable sense did. Even the wolf knew there were things in the deep waters that had no problem sinking a boat just because they could. They were best left alone.
Odd that Ruby would be so interested in other creatures given what she was, but Tala could given a few more examples.
"Things like actual werewolves, banshee, hybrids of almost anything you could think of. Even what humans call 'cryptids', though they're no different than any other Beast, except being good at being seen."
"Makes sense. Humans are pretty much everywhere outside of the ocean and maybe Antartica."
Tala doesn't really need a reason to remember said places if she doesn't stay too long in one place after all. Though fins do perk up at the latter remark. Not the first strange creature she's seen? Oh, now that grabs her attention!
"Really? What sort of other strange creatures have you seen then? Things like cryptids perhaps?"

"Hmm." Beasts and humans, despite their hate for one another in most parts of Tala's world, were still technically equals. One didn't use the other for something like transportation, though the wolf had the feeling there was more to what she was looking at. She just didn't know what.
Her eyes went back to Red, examining them with more interest than fear. For such a large creature they were awfully mild mannered.
"Or you use it to your advantage. I doubt anyone in their right mind will try to harass you with him by your side."
"I'M NOT SURPRISED IF IT IS." Mari almost scoffs. Even in her own homeland, being a rider or associating with monsters in a friendly manner was considered taboo, in several parts of the mainland. While the world she knew was steadily opening up to riders, some places were still more wary than others—Lulucion among them.
"But as long as you let me stay by his side or put him somewhere safe, we're square. Got it? Though maybe if having him near is going to draw peoples' attention, I should get us out of this kooky place."

23.) Is your character superstitious?
In a way yes. She believes in respecting nature or else getting her karma royally screwed. Yes, she's a Beast and yes she hunts but she always does it out of necessity, never just fun. And she never hunts younger animals if she can help it. Plus she's also a green witch so she believes in only using what she needs and nothing more. She replants what she can and never takes endangered plants.

What Kind Of Stupid Are You?
Confidently stupid
You think you are the smartest person on earth as you put your spoon in the microwave to make it easier to scoop ice cream. You give awful advice that sounds smart when spoken but terrible when executed. You insist on doing things yourself and are so absolutely sure you are doing everything right. Your confidence gives you charm, as well as the bravery to do the dumb things that you do
