You know those people who are cursed to always be with eyes partially closed in photographs? I hc Jon having the opposite problem after becoming the Archivist. In every photo he's in he's always caught looking directly at the camera, no matter where he is in the shot. Eyes wide open staring directly at the viewer. Seems normal when he is the focus but subtly unsettling the more photos of him you happen to see when he's part of the background or in the crowd. Especially since, after a while, your eyes seem to be pulled to find him to look directly back.

This logo looks incredibly similar to the british civil service logo! The alchemy symbols are mercury (☿) sulfur (🜍) and salt (🜔). The latin says ‘we will not waver.”

 - fay & fable (company competing w/ RQ) marketing person posts an article about RQ mismanagement & exploitation (https://medium.com/@newtschott/whos-afraid-of-alex-j-newall-ae3a67f3a5e1)

- the article didn’t state that the author was a marketing person at f&f until they were called out for not stating it; it was then edited in

- they cite approximately three sources in total, mostly coming back to unverifiable anonymous RQ affiliates (ex employees, people who were offered a position, etc)

- tal, not affiliated w/ f&f says this isn’t a marketing thing, was run past two editors and multiple lawyers

- there’s some truth in the article, mostly a lot of plausible but unverifiable things, and some plain misinformation / bad faith readings [i.e; article states that "there’s a very good chance that the list on Kickstarter of stretch goal guest writers may be the totality of the people in the audio fiction indie world that have still not had an experience with Rusty Quill.” this is provably false; many of the guest writers have RQ podcasts or have interacted with RQ before

This article is six parts and thousands of words, but I hope you read it. Incredibly brave creators spoke about their experience working with Rusty Quill, and their stories kept me up for nights. In my opinion, some of the actions taken by this company were unconscionable - but I invite you to read this piece and decide for yourself.

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism, but the behavior we support will be emulated by other podcast companies. It is up to us as a community to decide what that behavior should be, and take concrete action to uphold it.

As someone who has witnessed old, established fandoms get completely erased under a wave of new content, I'd like to put this request out now as early as possible:

Can we all, please, use separate tags for "The Magnus Archives" (TMA) and "The Magnus Protocol" (TMP) both here on tumblr and over on Ao3.

There will be some overlap, of course, but searching for TMA should turn up content about Jonathan Sims, the Archivist, and the old established set of characters, while searching for TMP should turn up content about our as-of-yet unnamed new civil servant protagonists and whoever shares the show with them.

I realize that people are going to want to keep using the TMA tags for both personal organization reasons as well as visibility, but I promise you, once content for the new show starts really picking up steam it'll be easier on all of us if we have two separate tags to keep them straight.

[If we need an overarching umbrella tag, I'd suggest "The Magnus Universe" (TMU) to cover content related to the world as a whole rather than a specific show.]

The protagonists work for the British Civil Service (apparently inspired by the video game “Control”)

Alex is excited to revisit the metaphysical lore, what the audience knows, what we think we know, what we think we don’t know, and what’s actually happening. “The info dump is done” and now he gets to play

Jonny is excited to revisit certain characters in new and exciting ways, also “agency related occurrences” Alex is desperately preventing Jonny from saying more.

Sam the Composer (Sam Sam the Music Man) is on the call, aka the “spooky viola man”.

Someone’s asked if the background tracks for statements will be released in an album, a question Alex has asked before to which Sam said ���why?”. Chat is very enthusiastic about getting these tracks (mainly for ttrpg usage) (they have yet to answer the question with a yes or no) they moved onto another question without answering

“Which tma character is most attractive/do you have an image of the characters in your head” the characters are blurry images in Jonny’s head, but the answer is Georgie. Alex Fancasts. The hottest character for him? Jared Hopworth. Helen says Elias is hottest because he’s evil, Alex argues that he’s not hot because he can’t crush metal between his thighs.

Returning to the music question, re:uploading on Spotify. Sam will consider it, the Magnus theme is already up on Spotify. He has to consider the legality because of the sampling of sounds, it has to be changed enough to not get copyrighted. Sam is talking about how he made the sounds now (with Alex’s vague directions)

Rusty Quill Twitter and Instagrams post UNPROMPTED, UNEXPLAINED eyes

On the same day, RQ patrons got a code in the weekly Patreon round up

12 October

RQ Twitter posts a tweet with an image of a cassette tape with the same code as had been given to the patrons: U3RhdGVtZW50IFJlbWFpbnMK

Using base64, the code comes out to “Statement Remains”

The RQ insta also posted this image to their story:

Which, if you take the image as binary code, comes out to “Are you still listening?”

A new code was also posted to RQ patrons, and will be added here if/when it is publicly released.

EDIT: There were strings of text added to the episode description of Goodbye for Now in the TMA feed, which when translated through Base32 and then Base64 read: "this one was an accident. sorry -_-"
