hey so remember in season 8 of Supernatural when someone repeatedly poked holes into Cas's brain and he had a mini Winter Soldier arc?

And remember at the end of 8x21 when he showed up bleeding on the road and then we skip straight to him being like, fine at the opening of 8x22 the next morning?

I literally "boo"ed at my screen about that, because it was such a missed opportunity for whump and pain and desperate confusion because he has holes in his brain. Missed opportunity for him to just have to trust Dean to take care of him for a minute. Missed opportunity for Dean to have to go "maybe my anger is not as important as his actual life."

So anyway, I'm writing a fic.

…a last-ditch effort by Dean to see Cas, one last time. Dean knew he was gonna die, and the chances of Cas finding him along that stretch of road were fantastically bleak for the both of them.

Dean is saying, hurry-hurry-hurry-please-just-get-here-please.

Pretty damn long. Four hours just to drive that stretch of road in CO from Granby to Wray, and that doesn’t count getting there.

That little late-series stretch of Dean n’ Cas living together made them fall in love in an extra bad, devastating way, huh.

They’re still duty driven, they’ll still mutually do everything in their power to protect the fam. But…

Talking about why this scene was rewritten/cut. Says he would get notes saying they know what the subtext is, bury it, use language less to the core but he wants to go straight to the core. Says its still clear Castiel is totally ride or die by Dean. He has to show it not tell it.

okay so. when i was reading the 2005 supernatural forums there was a bit of talk about phone numbers and voicemails that i didn't really pay attention to until this morning when i found something more

right after 'phantom traveler' ended, people started talking about dean's phone number that john gave in his voicemail

but i watched that moment and went, where are they getting this completely different number from? on bluray john gives the number as 785-555-0179

and then i see this

so at some point, the producers went back and overdubbed the number john gives with a different number, but the people who were watching it live heard 866-907-3235. and they called it. and this is the voicemail they got (youtube recording of it)

so, the first time dean's phone is given out on the show, the viewers are prompted to call it and get a voicemail. 11-2-83 is the night mary died.

the next time dean's phone is said on the show, in 'home', they're also prompted to call it.

and they find out that the voicemail changed

since dean gives out john's full email address in this voicemail, people start writing it too. and the day before 'asylum' airs, they get a reply

so now they have a day's head start on figuring out what this connects to. and this person gets it

dean does, in fact, get a similar message as them in 'asylum'

i don't know, seeing people this engaged with the show from the very beginning is just cool

before the season 2 premiere they got one more e-mail, this time jo's

if you wrote her, she would write back "Do I know you? Aren't you a friend of Ash?"

according to the spn wiki, this message was automated up until s05e10 'abandon all hope', after which the e-mail no longer responded. :(

the way they play dean thinking adam is a trap as him being paranoid and pessimistic and then he’s literally right. like. again. s4 is a season about dean being right over and over again and no one listening to him because he doesn’t have physical evidence. dean winchester you are the cassandra haunting this narrative and babygirl i am all ears

absolutely robbed of a scene where dean realizes that cas LETS him hold him back

like. dean was literally so lonely growing up even with sam there. he kept so much bottled up. rewatching s1 it’s just hit after hit of sam being like “i didn’t know that about you.” because they literally are strangers. dean didn’t have a best friend in his sibling, he didn’t have a confidant. he had a responsibility. and sure there were light moments here and there and they had their sibling moments too but they really weren’t as close as the narrative wants you to think. sam had school and sam made friends easy and sam was always trying to run away and sam’s best memories are the ones where he’s on his own. while dean had…escapes in tv. movies. music. lonely and solitary hobbies. the best time of his childhood where we see him the most social and engaged with others is at sonny’s. they literally thrive when they’re apart.
