Jerome: Don't bother me unless it's dire
Jerome: Unless it's at least an 8/10 on the serious scale, don't bother me
Jerome: The wellbeing of my stepdaughter and her road to recovery is far more important than unnecessary messages
Jerome: The required reading was given out before the event.
Lola-Blue: The essay for the reading is on your desk sir.
Lola-Blue: I hope Bella is okay and recovering quickly.

“But you didn’t.” Maddox countered to reassure her he was fine. “I’m okay Baby Blue, alright? Stop fretting. You don’t have to get me a new one, I have loads of suits” he shrugged, letting out a chuckle at how worked up she was over a suit. “No she won’t and it’s just a suit. You matter more than a suit, stop apologising”
“I burned you, didn’t I?” she mumbled against him and sat back to look at his face “Where did you get burned?” Lola asked, not giving him an opportunity to try and convince her otherwise “I do. That was a nice suit and I ruined it. Don’t laugh” she pouted, biting back a smile of her own when she knew he wasn’t angry “I’m serious. I feel really bad about it all”

He held her tiny frame against him and ignored any pain that came from his injuries. “It’s okay, I’ve got you” he said in reassurance and stroked the back of her blonde hair “I’ve got you” he repeated “Don’t apologise I’m fine, nothing serious. As long as you’re unharmed and safe.”
“But I could’ve hurt you” she whispered between them, her face pressed into his chest. Lola let out a gasp at the sudden memory flooding back “I set you one fire, are you injured? I set your suit and shirt on fire. I’ll get you a new one, I promise.” she chattered away “Your aunt will be so mad I ruined your suit. I’m so sorry Mads.”

It was a quite calm and quiet afternoon that day. Sure, the hospital was still full but there were no death-threatening cases anymore (at least none that Henry was aware of). He was sitting in the corner of Lola’s room, doing some reading for the classes (nerd) as he waited for her to wake up, which according to the more experienced healers was going to happen soon. His duty was to take care of her – something he already had experience with, from other patients and since he had done a good job, the healers trusted him enough to let him do that on his own. With a soft smile, he approached the blonde’s bed as soon as she woke up. “Good afternoon, Sleeping Beauty,” he spoke to her, still smiling. “You’re at St. Mungo’s but everything seems to be fine… how are you feeling?” he asked her carefully.
“Afternoon Henry” she smiled up at him “I feel exhausted, which is odd considering I’ve been sleeping this whole time.” she sighed and rubbed her eyes, still adjusting them to the light “How long was I out for?” she asked curiously but stopped in her tracks after her next thought came to the front og her mind “Wait. Is everyone okay? Are you okay? I-Is Maddox okay?”

After having spent a week in the hospital just wandering around, he had now taken to just walking in random rooms and hoping that he knew the person in there – which nine times out of ten he did, considering most of the university were in St Mungos. “Lola!” he exclaimed happily as he walked in and saw her. Every time he found another friend alive and well, it felt like another weight had fallen off his shoulders. “How are you feeling? Did you get badly hurt?”
She wan’t sure how long she was out for or what had even happened after she passed out. Sitting up in the bed, Lola looked around the room for anyone. Her eyes darted towards the door “James!” she grinned, happy to see her friend alive and well “I’m feeling better thanks. Umm not really, more from myself...well the elemental magic. Did everyone make it out okay?”

He was drifting in and out of sleep while perched in one of the armchairs by her bedside, getting some well needed rest after the events. Hearing that familiar voice slip into his ears like his favourite song, Maddox peeked out an eye “Hey sleepyhead. How are you feeling?”
“Maddox?” she asked sitting up to see his face “Maddox!” Lola reached out to hug him, quickly scanning him for any injuries her magic may have caused “I’m so sorry. Are you okay?” she apologised over and over “I’m so sorry. I lost it in all the panic. Please tell me you’re okay.”

Lola had been unconscious since the attack thanks to her elemental magic going haywire and Maddox thankfully thinking quickly enough to put her into a sleeping state with a spell. With that wearing off now, Lola groaned as her eyes fluttered open, letting the sunshine from the nearby room window illuminate her already piercing blue eyes. “Hello?”

“You’re looking rather beautiful tonight, Miss Loxias.” James grinned and took Lola’s hand so he could twirl her. “I agree, everyone here looks incredible.”
“Thanks James” she smiled. Lola’s smile stretched into a grin and a laugh escaped from her while she twirled around “They really do. Everyone’s really taken the opportunity to dress up. It’s nice seeing everyone happy”

Lola knew these social events weren't really Mercer's cup of tea, but she really appreciated the fact that he made the effort to come. She smiled over at him and hoped that he wasn't hating every second of the Valentine's dance or missing one of his many hats too much. The dresses, the suits, the masks; everyone had went all out for the Valentine's Ball and Lola barely recognised some of the people in attendance because they were so different from their normal attire. Looking back at her friend, she gave him a small squeeze of reassurance on his arm to let him know that she was with him every step. If he turned round and asked to leave, Lola would leave with him. "You think? I don't think I'm that much fun." she laughed at his wink "The same goes for you. If you want to go find anyone or go dance with some people then go right ahead and don't worry about me" she added. Lola's mind wandered to their conversation over dinner when Mercer had mentioned about becoming friends with Zach and Mylo; maybe at somepoint they would bump into them and it would help him feel more at ease to be surrounded with people he feels comfortable with.
lolablueloxias:
“Maybe?” she asked, linking her arm with his and holding the lengthy back of her dress. Lola had considered changing her dress before the ball considering it was so different from what she would usually wear but the rest of the girls had confirmed how good this choice was when they went shopping. “Thanks Mercie, you look dashing. How you got stuck with me instead of a date, I’ll never know.” A few days ago she had a momentary lapse of confidence in attending but the reminder that all her friends would be around her was comforting.
He gave a slight nodding, wishing he could be as excited as her. What kept him from doing so was the mere fact that he didn’t want to fake it. But it was nicer than he expected and he wasn’t about to bring her hype down, so gave a smile. Everyone looked so elegant. Even Lola had gotten his eyes to widen. He didn’t like dressing up like this–and wouldn’t be a grouch about it all evening–but he liked seeing his friend happy. If his friends were happy, then that would be enough. Besides, Mercer was mentally patting himself on the back for going through with this. The compliment got his smile to widen a little and he shrugged. “Pfft, dates are overrated. Escorting you was way more fun. But, if you see anyone you want to dance with…” With a playful wink, he gently nudged her as a way of saying she should so go out there and have as much fun as she wanted with whomever she wanted.
