La Finestra sul cortile - RARE WINDOW
In Milan, in the area of Brenta, architect Alessandro Giudici has transformed a nineteenth century courtyard into a contemporary home, without distorting the charm of tradition. The layout of this renovated small building is inside unconventional: the ground floor sets the service entrance, the bedroom and leads to a secret garden; the open-space living room is on the first floor, which is accessed by a spiral staircase, and features the kitchen, the dinning and the sofas areas. The decor is eclectic and refined, and has been chosen to achieve a balance between past and present: modern furniture and vintage family pieces dialogue with design icons, such as Breuer, Ponti and Jacobsen chairs or Alvar Aalto, and Achille Castiglione lights. Remains of the old building perfectly coexist with new architectural elements: from the grunge walls which have been restored to showcase their original decoration, to the concrete worktop in the kitchen and concrete walls in the bedroom.

Let everything that’s been planned come true. Let them believe. And let them have a laugh at their passions.
