The Cavern of the Gods pt 7
Part 1
[The Livestream continues, in surprising quality considering the earlier technical difficulties]
The team swims down through the new passage into a dark room. A pair of large Araquanid rest on the floor, and glowy fish school near the ceiling. Leaving through an identical path puts them in another altar room.
"We're in the West part of the tomb now. Up those stairs should be past the cave-in that Cay and I saw down the south hall." Oceana says, mapping their movements on her dive computer.
The hallway turns northward to a mirror of the entrance room. Both walls are covered in murals, but the eastern one has hieroglyphics as well. Hayako gets right to work on translating.
"To my descendants who seek treasure, you will be tried by the dead ones. The last ray of the sinking sun is the key that opens the gate to the underworld." She pauses in thought before turning around. "Well the sun sets in the West..."
Sure enough the mural on the western wall depicts a scene of the Egyptian afterlife. Cay swims over to it, finding a golden glimmer at the horizon of the mural. Pressing down on it causes more mechanical noises as the eastern wall slides away and reveals stairs heading upward into a massive room dominated by pillars. Relicanth drift slowly around the room.
The radio crackles into static "Pic...g up ... room... ab.ve you..."
Almost 10 stories up is a raised portion of the ceiling. The four slowly make their way up to it.
"Hey, there's a door here! Lemme just..." GG gets to work trying to open the stone door.
"Watch out! Sharpedo!" Oceana points down, where a pair of Sharpedo are swimming up to meet the group. Their pinkish-white color and pronounced snouts identify them as being a deep-sea variant of the species.
Cay unholsters her Pulsar as the pokémon approach, thankful that Nancy had gotten a capacitor upgrade for it before they had left. "Stay back, I'll keep them busy until GG's done."
Three quick blasts from the Pulsar pacifies the first, but Cay is only able to get one pulse off on its partner before it can attack. Cay grunts in pain as its rough scales slash at her wetsuit. Flipping over to get the shark pokémon back in her sights she is able to hit it with another round of pulse charges and send the two of them back to wherever they came from.
"Hah! Got it!" GG celebrates as the stone door rumbles open.

The Cavern of the Gods pt 6
Part 1
[The Livestream continues for some minutes, completely black with only Jean-Eric's only slightly panicked troubleshooting. Eventually it cuts to a still image of the L&L Diving Service logo over an ocean sunset. After another minute, the video feeds from the divers come back crystal clear, but Jean-Eric's voice is gone.]
Cay desperately tried to stay upright and facing forward as the current swept her down the corridor. Her training as a diver allowed her to keep breathing steady. Eventually the current dumped her in an altar room just like the other two they had explored.
"Yo! Cay made it! Let's divvy up our air supply, make sure everyone is working with the same amount." The radios are working fine between the four of them now that they're in the same room. "Okay, Hayako was filling us in on what we've actually found here."
Hayako swims towards the statue in the room. "The currents shifted when you played the Song of Dragons for the mural, and again for each god's altar. But this is the last accessible altar room, as both corridors leading to the West are collapsed."
She swims back to Cay. "I would like to try translating the mural at the entrance. I had gotten part of it before being taken here, so it shouldn't take long. If you play the Song again, I believe the currents should die down."
The Song of Dragons echoes out yet again, and the water in the corridors goes still.
"-ceana? -- --- read me?" The voice over the radio sounds a lot calmer than Jean-Eric was a moment ago trying to get in contact with them.
"Yeah, Gramps, barely."
"It should clear up as we head towards the entrance."
The videos clear up as they return to the entrance room. Hayako begins to translate the hieroglyphs on the mural as Oceana and GG reassure Jean-Eric that everyone is fine.
"My descendants must pass through the underworld and reach the hallowed realm to find the treasure. Only the holy metal of Magnesia can open the gate to the underworld. That metal... Could be silver? Or perhaps iron."
GG thinks for a moment. "The statue of that Horus dude, he was holding an ankh made of metal. I don't think the other rooms had much metal in them."
Returning to the altar of Horus, GG approaches the statue's hand. "This thing has a bit of give... if I just..."
The ankh twists to the side, and the sound of ancient mechanisms coming to life fill the water. The massive statue shifts, scraping across the floor to reveal access to a room below.
"So... ready to go through the underworld?" Cay jokes.

The Cavern of the Gods pt 5
Part 1
[The Livestream continues, only the camera feeds from Cay and Oceana remain active, albeit very poor quality.]
"GG? Wha- ---pened?" Cay's voice was met with only dead air for a moment.
"I've lost all contact with him, and you're breaking up as well. The currents shifted again, but the way back is still blocked." Jean-Eric speaks, hoping enough got through to the remaining pair of divers.
The two swim back to the entrance room, where the other corridor's current has died down. Continuing on, the corridor is completely blocked by rubble, but an altar room similar to the other side is still accessible. Within swim some small fish and a few deep-sea feebas, their red ribbon-y fins fluttering about. The statue in this room depicts the god Osiris.
Oceana remains at the top of the stairs as Cay approaches the statue, Dragon Flute in hand. Yet again, the Song of Dragons echoes through the Cavern.
"Whoa, he--!"
Cay turns around just in time to watch Oceana get caught in a current and pulled out of view. Her video goes dark, leaving only Cay still transmitting to the surface.
"-ceana?" She swims up the staircase and into the hall. The water is eerily still for having just made someone disappear.
A whirr of some sort of machinery and rush of water are picked up by the mic before Cay's video cuts.

The Cavern of the Gods pt 4
Part 1
[The Livestream continues, the feed has become slightly fuzzy and Hayako's camera is offline]
"I've lost contact with Hayako, but the currents have shifted. I'll keep trying to reconnect." Jean-Eric's voice is the only one not affected by the interference. The stress and worry is obvious in his words, although he is doing his best to keep calm.
"Hey, you two go check that hall that's opened up. I'll stick around here and keep an eye out for the Prof." GG says confidently, before swimming to investigate the other side of the entrance room again.
Cay and Oceana swim down the hallway, passing by odd fish that typically live deep in ocean caves. A current prevents them from passing farther down the corridor, but a staircase to their left leads down to another room.
This room contains a large Alomomola and some schools of purple Luvdisc. At the back of the room stands a massive statue of the goddess Nephthys.
"Looks like a dead end... Maybe playing the Flute will change the currents again?" Oceana ponders.
Cay follows the suggestion, waving the Dragon Flute through the water. The Song of Dragons once again flows from the lapis flute, and is once again answered by a loud echo through the structure.
GG was examining the mural in the entrance when the Song echoes around him. "Wait... let me get awa-"
His video feed goes dark.

The Cavern of the Gods pt 3
Part 1
[The Livestream continues]
The four divers are in a stone room. Each of them investigates one of the three halls leading out of this room, but strong currents prevent access to any of them.
"The current is too strong, our way out is unviable at the moment." Hayako turns to address the group.
"Both of the other paths are also blocked"
Cay examines the final wall, which bears a mural of the sun and hieroglyphs. "...The Song of Dragons is the key..." She pulls out the Dragon Flute, an intricate lapis lazuli device created by the Okeanides. The others swim over to join her.
Waving it through the water, the Song of Dragons twirls from the Flute. After a second, the Song echoes back through the halls, much louder.
"...Did anything happen?" GG asks.
Hayako turns and her video feed cuts to static.

The Cavern of the Gods pt 2
Part 1
[Video Livestream from the L&L account]
[the screen is split four ways between the camera feeds of the four divers.]
They meet up in front of the structure. There is an open entrance to the tomb itself that they approach.
"The Cavern of the Gods..." Oceana whispers.
Jean-Eric spoke up over radio. "Be careful, we don't know what might be in there. Stick together and keep your composure."
Cay begins to respond but is cut off by the Song of Dragons coming from deep within the structure. The haunting melody is shortly followed by the four of them being pulled into the tomb by a sudden current.

The Cavern of the Gods pt 1
[Video Livestream, POV set from Cay's dive mask.]
The sea is teeming with cetacean pokémon. Pods of all sorts of different Finizen play together, Wailords of many breeds dive and breach.
The radio buzzes to life. "Cay? This is Jean-Eric. Are you doing alright down there? All of these Wailords are messing with the sonar."
"Yep everything is fine here. I'm going to head towards the Echoing Terrace, see if it opened up."
Cay begins swimming towards the cliff. Her Finizen, Cove, swims ahead towards a wide cave in the wall. The Echoing Terrace is currently populated by a small pod of jet-black Finizen, happily chirping and playing around. At the back of the cave is a tunnel leading further in.
"That rock wall is gone! Totally opened up to a tunnel!" She swims onward, passing rubble and an ancient, mangled sheet of metal.
Hayako's voice comes over the radio. "The treasure of Pacifica sleeps with the queen behind the bronze door in the abyss."
"And there's our door!" GG calls out, "Oh man! I need to get in the water yesterday!"
"hold your horseas, GG. Let Cay get to the end of the tunnel." Oceana laughs.
Cay reaches a light at the end of the tunnel, opening up into the cavern she had seen from the Long Fissure.
The radio mic is overwhelmed by the excited cheers coming from the boat, followed by splashes being barely picked up.
Jean-Eric's voice starts quiet before returning to his normal volume. "That must be it... The tomb of the last queen of the Okeanides... The others have already dived in to meet up with you, I'll keep tracking you from the surface."

Cove wants to join us for our exploration. I'm worried about bringing him because he's blind and caves mess with his echolocation.

[A photo taken from the L&L dive boat, out to sea. As far as the eye can see there are pokémon. Wailmer, Wailord, Finizen, even some Cetitan swimming towards the sea floor drop-off.]
Ah I have to swim through that, huh.
There's so many! From all over the world too.
Were they brought here by the Cavern?

Scientists Note Mass Migration of Cetacean Pokémon
By Ann Emony, Posted November 6th, 2024, 1:24 PM
Starting earlier today, November 6th, 2024, marine biologists around the globe have begun reporting strange behaviors from tagged cetacean pokémon, such as Finizen and Wailord. Many have begun swimming away from their habitats and typical migration routes, but to where is still being investigated.
(Update 1:53 PM) Reports are coming in from pokémon trainers that their cetacean pokémon are also exhibiting similar migration behaviors, despite the known effects a trainer's bond has on these behaviors. Authorities are recommending that trainers keep their cetacean pokémon in their pokéballs until more is known.
(Update 3:04 PM) A large amount of Finizen and Wailord have crossed through the Suez Canal into the Red Sea. Pods meeting up in other parts of the oceans also seem to be moving towards the Red Sea.
