textual evidence supporting my hc that violet baudelaire has adhd:

- often seems unable to think if her hair is in the way. her hair ribbon is essential to her ability to focus on anything.

- once tried to make breakfast for her parents and fucked it up so badly that the smoke alarm went off. putting food on the stove and then forgetting about it is something that I guarantee you most people with adhd, me included, are guilty of doing.

- excels at fidgety activities like knot-tying, rock skipping and lock picking

- basically the only teenager in the series (excluding carmelita) who doesn’t have a hobby that requires a lot of book smarts and/or note taking skills. (I mean sure inventing requires maths but on the whole it’s one of the more creative and hands-on sciences)

- doesn’t pick up on small details as fast as Klaus does, usually. eg. in the wide window, she didn’t pick up on the errors in Josephine’s suicide letter until Klaus pointed them out and initially didn’t think they were significant, despite the fact that Josephine was giving them grammar lessons every day while they lived with her. that to me says that a) violet forgot everything aunt josephine tried to teach them and b) she wasn’t reading the note all that carefully.

- she hyperfocuses. (she and klaus both do it actually) I don’t have all the books but I can remember at least a couple of times where Violet is ‘holed up in the inventing part of her brain’ for long periods.
